Work Text:
Weekend. It could be another one of Marcy's weekend, except her parents grounded her from playing her video games. After the last incident that includes her passing out in one of her class which may or may not include staying up all night playing, her parents finally took things into their own hands. Literally. Which is probably the reason as to why she was heading out at 9 in the morning and on to her friend's house.
-
"Can you tell me exactly why you are here and ruining my beauty rest?" was the first thing that her blonde friend said.
"Well Sash, funny stor-"
"Your parents grounded you from using your gaming thing, right?" the blonde eyed her knowingly.
Marcy forced out a laugh but came out poorly, "How'd you know?"
Sasha sighed and let the girl in her room, "Oh gee I don't know, maybe because you don't really come here? Alone, if I may add. And I also heard about that falling asleep incident." was what the blonde girl said accompanied by a smirk on her face.
Marcy smiled weakly at the blonde, proving her theory right.
"Anne should probably teach you how to sleep in class– or not since she still gets caught. Speaking of, where is she?"
"Oh y'know, helping her parents with their restaurant. Wouldn't wanna bother her with-"
"So you came to me?" the blonde raised an eyebrow
"Wha- pshh no Sash. I want to hang out with you too." As Marcy explained, looking at every part of the room except her companion. "So can I?" Marcy asks pleadingly with her hands together as she tries to do puppy eyes on her friend.
For whatever reason, Sasha felt her face heat up and turned away from her friend. "Ugh why did it suddenly got hot here?" The blonde proclaimed as she tries to fan herself with her hand.
"Well– temperature works in-"
Sasha quickly interrupted Marcy's essay about temperatures, "Nope. Not dealing with this early in the morning. Anyways, what do you even want to do?"
"...", The short haired girl suddenly went silent on the bed.
Sasha was now wondering why her friend went quiet. "Yo Marmar? You there?" as she waved her hand in front of the girl.
"Huh? Oh- yeah totes totally, you just caught me off guard is all."
Sasha looked at her quizzically.
"Oh y'know, its just– you're usually the one with the plan and don't really ask us what we want to do soooo, yes."
Now that comment has caught Sasha off guard. Was she really that much of a control freak for them to think about her like that, was what the blonde thought. "Well, I just– i mean, why not? Well do you want to or not?"
"I do! Uhh" Marcy trailed off as she glanced around her friend's room looking for something to do until it caught her eye. Marcy got up and went to the corner of the room and picked it up. "How about this?" she exclaimed and showed her friend the object she got like it was some amazing artifact.
"My skateboard? Do you even know how to ride that?"
"Well, no not really" Marcy smiled sheepishly as her hand went up to scratch the back of her neck, "That's why I want you to teach me! If you uh want to of course".
Marcy looked at her in her EYES with a smile. Even if it was only for a few seconds, she felt her heart bounce rapidly in her chest. How could she say no to those eyes, not like she was planning on saying no in the first place. "Of course, try not to fall off and get a bruise alright? Anne would kill me" she said as she laughed.
"Alright! Let's go!" Marcy explained and runs out to the door then trips on her way out, "I'm fine, I'm fine! Just jittery and all that pent up energy" followed by a laugh as she dusted herself off.
-
The walk to the park was surprisingly peaceful. That is- if you count a girl randomly giving facts and her observation on everything she sees, falls under peaceful– then yes, Sasha does.
"-and that is why the sky is blue. I rambled again didn't I? Oh god and I thought I was getting good at controlling that. Its just sometimes everything's amazing like the environment, how living creatures work, and– oops I did it again, sorry Sash" Marcy looked away sheepishly as her hand rubs the back of her neck.
"Nonono it's fine. It's totally fine dude, it's kindacute" Sasha may have said the last part fastly and in a whisper seeing as how she glanced away too.
"What was that?"
"Nothing! I mean, t'was nothing. We're cool. Anyways we're here"
After some explaining over how her feet should be placed, Sasha stopped and looked at Marcy carefully. "Alright so hold on to me first, okay? Can't have you falling off and breaking something" The blonde advised as she offers her hand to the latter.
Marcy accepts her hand, and if the blonde noticed how her friend was controlling her shaking hand– well she didn't say anything about it. Was what the blonde wanted to do at first but, "Hey Marmar, look at me", the blonde squeezed the latter's hand in a comforting manner. "I got you, okay? Just tell me when you're ready" said Sasha along with an assuring smile.
It certainly got the girl's attention, seeing how she squeezed back and returned the smile. "Okay, I'm ready".
The blonde slowly walked and guided her friend with her. Marcy's grip was still hard but not in a way that hurts the blonde. After awhile, the latter's hand finally loosened. She has calmed down as she stood and balanced herself on her friend's board. "Hey I'm starting to get the hang of this!" exclaimed as she smiled at her friend proudly.
"Yeah! See? Told you I could teach you, aren't I the best teacher or what?" Sasha said and grinned at her friend. The latter only rolled her eyes and chuckled while keeping her balance. "I'll go on a different pace now, okay? Tell me of it's too fast for you". Marcy simply nodded and braced herself.
Surprisingly, she's still calm and collected. Looks like she really wanted to do this–and has she always looked this cute while focusing? How come I'm only noticing this right now–
"Hey Sash we’re nearing a corner and uh how do you turn this board? Do I like, get down and face it there or?”
The blonde quickly shook her head and almost grabbed her hand away from her friend if not the reminder that she’s guiding her. “Huh? Oh, right. So once we’re about to turn, the easiest way is to lean in the direction where you want to turn. So since we’re about to go left and you’re using your right foot as a front, put pressure on your toes and lean a little bit towards me. Got it?”
“Oh yeah I think I understand it- Hey we’re about to turn!” exclaimed Marcy excitedly.
She looks like a kid getting excited about candies on Halloween- wait what? Sasha cut it out and focus on your friend
I am focusing on her.
Well clearly you are– and are you seriously talking to yourself?
Shut up self.
“Alright so lean to me and put pressure on your toes okay? Slowly”
However, her friend was already leaning towards her and was doing well until she got so excited and put more pressure than needed which made the board turn faster– surprising her blonde friend.
“Marmar wait! Stop leaning, I think you’re putting too much pressure on your toes- Marcy-!”
Because of the sudden change of speed and seeing her friend panic–she also started panicking which was worse as they started pulling onto each other until Marcy finally regained her balance but they failed to see a rock which caused them to fall off.
“Marcy are you-“ Sasha stopped midsentence as she noticed the situation that she’s in right now. They have fallen onto the ground and apparently, she somehow ended up on top of the latter, faces inches apart from each other. The blonde remained frozen and somehow forgot how to breathe as she stares at her friends eyes, nose, li- well her whole face.
“Ugh, oh frogs I am so sorry Sash-” Marcy, for the second time that day went silent as she registers their current position. Noticing her friend’s silence–which is odd since she always talks, she looks up at her friend and froze as the blonde was already looking at her. She can feel her friend’s breath on her face which was somehow distracting for some reason.
“I.. uh” Whatever the blonde girl was about to say got lost in the wind, and suddenly her brain went off.
Dude get off
I’m trying- wait aren’t you my mind? Get off then
I am literally just like some sort of conscience or something–just move dimwit
You’re literally me-
“Hey Sash? Do you uh mind to um uh-“
“Oh yeah yeah totally. My bad” Sasha quickly got up and extended her hand to her friend. As the latter took her hand, Sasha pulled her up and they quickly let go of their hands. “Sooo, uh you okay Marmar? That was uh- some fall you took” the blonde looking everywhere aside from her friend.
“Huh? Oh yeah I think I may or may not have a bruise on my arm– nah I think its just a scratch nothing to fuss over” Marcy replied as she quickly looked at her arms.
“Oh crap let’s go home and get this cleaned up” panic and concern was evident in her voice and if its not enough, well her face speaks for it.
“Hey hey Sash it’s fine, okay? It’s just a scratch, we’ll get this clean at your place” Marcy said as she smiled in an assuring manner towards her friend.
-
The two got back and went to the blonde’s room. “Stay here. Let me just grab the first aid” and so she rushed out of the room and went downstairs.
As her friend left, the latter found herself alone in the room with her thoughts scattered everywhere. Marcy stared off and her mind would replay the event that happened awhile ago, and for someone who’s mostly awkward– she could say she somehow managed to stay calm and collected at that moment. Of course she couldn’t forget how close their faces were and how she noticed Sasha’s face turning into a light shade of red, along with the faded scar on her cheek. She sighed and shook her head.
I mean I know Sasha’s beautiful, like only a blind person wouldn’t know that. So why am I thinking like this-
“I’m back!” Sasha announced as she entered her room. She sat down beside her friend and along with the kit. “So this is probably gonna sting so just bare with it for a while okay?”
Marcy nodded and replied with a simple “sure”. There was something at how Sasha was acting today, the way her friend looks so careful and caring was absolutely a sight to see. If this was a way for her to see her friend’s caring side then she’s considering skating more often. “Well aren’t you one caring friend” Marcy teased and smirked at the blonde.
The blonde tensed for a bit then continued cleaning the bruise. She chuckled lightly, “Hey! I can be caring too y’know, Anne’s not the only one who’s got a caring knight in shining armor soul inside” she smiled bitterly. She knows she hasn’t been the nicest and caring person, but she cares deeply for them. “I know I may seem like a manipulative person and bosses everyone around her, but I care for you guys so much. I guess I just haven’t been showing it– in a way where you guys will notice it”. The blonde froze when she felt her friend’s hand on top of hers.
“Hey, I know Sash. I can see that you’re trying and changing. You’re not just a mean girl with anger issues that someone sees, you’re more than that. You're someone who’s loyal to their friends and tries to help them as much as possible. Its like you're a tsundere from those animes.” Marcy replied, looking at her friend and smiles, followed by a soft chuckle. “I know it’s hard, but hey we’re not perfect too. I’m just glad that I’m able to see this part of you Sash”.
Sasha stopped cleaning the bruise and stared at her friend as if it was the most beautiful thing that she’s ever heard. She found herself just staring intently at her friend, her brain short-circuited again as she struggles for the right thing to say, there was also that feeling from her stomach which was weird but somehow a nice feeling. The blonde felt her face heat up, was it getting hot again or does it have to do with her friend’s face close to her again. She can’t remember when the girl moved close to her but she’s all that the blonde can see. She didn’t know what came over her but she found herself leaning towards the latter, she’s waiting for Marcy to pull back but she didn’t. Until someone’s phone started ringing. The two suddenly broke apart and looked away.
“H-hello? Oh Anne!” Marcy exclaimed at her phone. “I’m at Sasha’s, but yeah sure sure. See you later Anna-banana!”
“What was it?” Sasha, finally having something to say.
“O-oh uh yeah, Anne was asking us to come over later and eat at their restaurant. I think they made a new dish? Anyways, let’s go there now!” said Marcy as she stands up and looks at her friend then smiles.
“Um, I think I’ll catch up later Marmar. I need to do something first, just hit me up if they’re gonna serve it early. Y’all better leave some for me” Sasha replied and smirked at her friend.
“You sure? If you don’t come as soon as possible then we’ll eat them all, pretty sure Anne will” Marcy said along with a laugh.
“Positive. Don’t worry, I’ll definitely come. Now go and make sure Anne doesn’t eat them first” the blonde chuckled.
“Well, alrighty then. See you later Sash! Oh and uh thank you for earlier” Marcy said and looks down then runs up to her friend and hugs her quickly before dashing outside the blonde’s room. “Later Sash!”.
Sasha remained frozen in her spot as she registers what happened. Yeah they hug at times, but this was different. As she lay alone at her bed, events from today played on repeat on her mind. Specifically the accident and the moment they had awhile ago.
The two girls went on with their day and thoughts occupied with what happened. One actually thought that it may just be because of the fall. However, their head didn’t even hit the floor. Maybe them falling off the board wasn’t the only thing that happened that time.
