It takes Starscream a second to find his voice. Looking up into Skyfire’s cerulean blue optics, he suddenly has to ask; “How?”
Skyfire sits down on his bearth, pulling Starscream into his lap. “What you saw was one of Hound’s holograms. I cannot be a Decepticon, Star. I just cannot. Can you understand that?”
Starscream nods. There are times when he doesn’t want to be a Decepticon either. He would rather be back in his lab on Cybertron. But he can’t leave his brothers, either. “I can’t just leave the Decepticons.” He tells Skyfire.
Skyfire accepts this truth with a nod. “That’s why we came up with this. Wheeljack designed it. You can come see me anytime and Megatron will not be the wiser. For all intensive purposes, my spark was distinguished when I hit the ice.”
Starscream shifts in Skyfire’s lap, laying his helm on Skyfire’s shoulder. Suddenly, his tank growls. He blushes, but Skyfire just laughs. “Hungry?”; he asks. Speaking into his commlink, Skyfire asks if someone could bring them two Energon cubes. A few minutes later, Wheeljack appears.
Starscream stands up and walks over to Wheeljack. Taking the Energon cubes, he hands them to Skyfire. Then he pulls a surprised Wheeljack into a hug. “There is no possible way I can ever thank you enough for this.”
After Wheeljack leaves, Skyfire and Starscream sit on the bearth together, drinking their Energon cubes. “I have fantasized about this for millions of years”, Skyfire says. “I have fantasized about us being together again, Star”.
The fantasy, now a reality, smiles at him, and that is when Skyfire realizes that his home is wherever his Starscream is.
