Summary:
Luna and Dean collaborate on a Pride edition of The Quibbler, featuring well-known queer people in the wizarding world. There's one particular article everyone can't stop talking about, complete with visual spreads and quotes. And it happens to involve Puddlemere's first-string Keeper and the Minister's Advisory Consultant.
[Or, that one time Percy and Oliver willingly agreed to a press opportunity to prove their relationship was indeed very real. After all, soulmate magic never lied.]
Notes:
For HP Queer Fest 2021. Based on prompt #16: Percy and Oliver are dating. They've been dating. The idea of it is so absurd to everyone else, though, that people either ignore it or dismiss it as a joke. It's frustrating, and the two are determined to make people acknowledge them, no matter what the cost.
Leave it to Percy and Oliver to go big when all else fails. Set in the early 2000s, with spreads inspired by Muggle magazines. If you want to read their full interview though, you'll have to subscribe to the Quibbler! ;)
Something about this prompt immediately jumped out, so I ran with it. The what-if of them going the unconventional route to publicise their relationship through a magazine was too tempting, especially when soulmate tattoos are thrown into the mix.
Percy and Oliver know how to deal with press, but exposing their personal lives is probably something they never, ever do. I'd like to think Luna and Dean were more open-minded and understanding to work with (comparing to the gits at the Prophet or other media outlets). Plus, having more bi representation never hurts. :)
Even though this whole thing turned into beast, the mock-up spreads were all so satisfying to draw and well worth making. Hope y'all enjoy. Cheers!

The soulmate tattoos are self-explanatory, as they represent a loved one's name but also characteristics of each wearer. Here are some interesting facts I've researched while making this piece, if you're interested in name and tattoo symbolism:
---Oliver's tattoo:
A valley- based the character Perceval, one of King Arthur's Knights of the Round Table who was given a glimpse of the Holy Grail (according to the poem by 12th-century French poet Chrétien de Troyes). The spelling was perhaps altered under the influence of Old French percer val "to pierce the valley". Valley and mountain tattoos tend to symbolise adventure, mystery, strength and/or a life’s journey from birth to death.---Percy's tattoo:
Olive branch- based on the name Olivier, a Norman French form of a Germanic name such as Alfher or an Old Norse name such as Áleifr (aka Olaf). The spelling was altered by association with Latin oliva "olive tree". The olive branch generally symbolises victory, peace, happiness and wisdom. It is a captivating vessel of everlasting insight and clarity and also a classic symbol of reconciliation.---People with tattoos on the chest tend to be very confident. Chest tattoos can have a romantic meaning, symbolising someone or multiple someones close to a person's heart.
---There's an old belief that tattoos on the left side are more meaningful to an individual because the heart is on the left side of the body. This side of the body links into the emotional, vulnerable right brain, which displays people’s emotional connection to their inner self and wounds. The creative, intuitive voice of a person’s soul is instinctually revealed instead of logically planned.
---Tattoos on the right side of the body reflect how someone feels about current life experiences and is governed by the logical left brain. It’s where things people are currently passionate about are comfortably expressed.
