Work Text:
Evening skies had begun to set over Ohashi High School, winds had quietly picked up and slowly played around, dancing about with the trees and flowers - most of the school's rooms and hallways were empty. That was all except Class 2-C, which had two students remaining behind and sitting on the desk at the back of the room nearest the locker and window.
"My chin still hurts..." One of the students, who went by the name of Ryuji Takasu, laughed softly, rubbing his chin slightly as he looked down and smiled at the flustered girl tugging at his shirt to hide her red face. "You know... Taiga... I missed you..." He said, playing with her hair gently and looking outside at the setting sun - dreading that night's dinner.
"Thats your fault..." Taiga mumbled, tugging on his blazer slightly to keep her face hidden - her mind was racing at what just happened, his words echoing over and over in her head: making her more and more flustered before pulling away from his chest to reveal her beet-red face.
The two stared - barely blinking as they kept staring for the next few seconds and now it was Ryuji's turn to blush. He swallowed his embarrassment and opened his mouth to speak; as he did, Taiga grabbed his blazer and suddenly pushed them both over - slamming to the floor as they yelled in unison before hearing the wooden chair clash against the wooden floor.
Wincing in pain, Ryuji was quick to yell. "What the hell Taiga!?" He was still laying down and feeling the pain surge through his body before it stopped as he just stared at her, sighing slightly and rubbing his head with the palm of his hand. "We should prob-"
"I love you!"
A soft gasp emerged from Ryuji's slightly agape mouth as his eyes widened - pupils dilating as they both stared at one another. Taiga was easily more flustered than ever now, what she said just came out without her even thinking. She stared at Ryuji, her eyes wide too as she began to let out flustered stutters.
A comforting hand suddenly pressed against the back of her head as Ryuji leaned back and smiled, looking up at the ceiling. "I love you too..." He said quietly and began running her thumb along the back of her head slowly. "Let's stay here for a bit longer... I can make dinner later..."
Taiga was silent before slowly shuffling her small body to find the warmest part of his chest as she closed her eyes. "Kay..."
