Tic… tac..tic… tac…
Anselm listened intently to the ticking of the clock in the empty waiting room. It was 9:40 p.m., just five minutes before he was supposed to have a checkup at the dentist. And even though the young vampire had been waiting here for over 15 minutes, he still couldn't quite calm down.
He never liked dentists. Anselm had always seemed them as scary, sadistic, with a terrifying laugh and a desire to see people in pain. Not that the earl had much experience with visiting a dentist. There was no such dentist service when he was a child, except for help from a blacksmith, and his last visit in 1935 definitely gave him trauma. Since then, he has tried to clean his teeth regularly and correctly, having them perfect and pearly white. Despite this, a cavity appeared in his molar, which, despite being relatively small, caused unbearable pain. Anselm had no choice but to call a dentist.
More than the fear of pain and the dentist himself, he was troubled by the thought of a person's gaze, looking at his fangs. Most people thought his fangs were scary, but few had the courage to say it out loud. They preferred to be silent, looking at Bill with a horrified, sometimes disgusted, look. Fortunately, none of them knew that the reason he had such big fangs was that he was a vampire. Sure, there were a few people who believed in vampires, but most of the people have either forgotten them or simply were convinced vampires don't exist.
But Bill was a real vampire, and a bottle of a mix of blood and tomato juice in his bag only confirmed that.
Without a word, he looked around. He had to admit that although the dentists terrified him and he would rather have his hand burned by the cross than be there, this waiting room looked quite nice. In the middle of the room were 4 white comfortable sofas with a large glass round coffee table in the center. There were many magazines on it, both for adults and children, as it was a family clinic. Therefore, the waiting room, which was painted white except for one wall with a painting of the night sky full of stars and aurora borealis, with a polished wooden floor and the scent of the lemon cleaner, made him quite relaxed.
Sure, Anselm was very nervous, just because he reserved for the last possible date of the day and would be there alone with the dentist in the surgery, but this pleasant environment helped him a lot, as did the receptionist.
At the entrance, the young lady welcomed the count and offered to make water with ice and lemon for Bill. She was very nice and with her long chocolate hair and a big smile, she looked very friendly. She told Bill that she was already going home because of the ending shift, but that Dr. Pines would take him to his office at the exact time and not to be afraid of anything. Bill nodded at that time and took his glass of water with trembling hands.
Although he was worried, all this somehow helped him with his fear and nervousness. That is until the clock struck 9:45 p.m., and the door to the office opened. "Mr. Cipher? Come on in and sit down. ”
Oh, damn, here we go…
The vampire took a deep breath, got up from the couch, and entered the office through the white door. However, as soon as he saw his dentist, he immediately lost his breath and was absolutely speechless. All his life he had always seen the dentist as an old man, tall and skinny - almost emaciated, with cold eyes, a frightening smile, and a devilish laugh. However, the man, sitting in an office chair at the computer, looked quite the opposite.
First, he was so young, just about 27 years old. Bill guessed he'd been working for barely a few months, a year and a half at most.
Second, he was incredibly beautiful.
He was shorter than Bill, about 175 cm, with shiny chocolate hair reaching over his shoulders and carefully combed into a cute ponytail. He was wearing a white dental tunic with white pants and a cute tiny shark plushie clipped and hanging from a name tag on his right breast. When he turned to Bill and took off his surgical mask, he revealed the cutest face in the world. His eyes were so deep, warm, chocolate-brown, and full of joy. His face was strewn with thousands of freckles, especially at his nose. But the most beautiful was his smile - so sincere that one immediately recognized that the dentist was truly a good and kind man.
Oh, that smile... It was made up of two rows of perfect, straight, and white teeth - more beautiful than any illustrations in medical textbooks. And this so beautiful smile now belonged to Bill.
If there was such a thing as love at first sight, Bill was sure he was in love right now… with his dentist “Dipper” Mason Pines…
"Mr. Anselm Bill Cipher, right?" The brunette asked, watching Bill nod. He, therefore, rose from his chair and held out his hand in a handshake. "Nice to meet you. My name is Mason Pines, and I'm your new dentist.” The dentist smiled again, watching the blond man shake hands with him nervously and answer. "N-nice to meet you too. You can call me Bill."
Dipper couldn't lie, this new patient of his was very interesting and handsome to look at. He was taller than he, about 182 cm tall, masculine, and with broad shoulders. His hair was so long, shiny, and perfect that Dipper was so jealous of the man and his golden mane.
However, jealousy was suppressed by how curiously pale the man's skin was. Dipper guessed that the man must have suffered from a severe allergy to the sun or worked as a dermatologist to have such pale skin. It was as if the man had never been in the sun… or very often used good sunscreen, who knows. However, it somehow had its charm, as did the patient's fascinating golden eyes, staring straight into his…
Wow, did the room suddenly get a little warmer?
"Well, um, please sit down. Make yourself comfortable. I'm just registering you in our patients’ file and we can get into action.” The dentist coughed to try to change the atmosphere inside the office. "O-okay," Bill replied nervously, doing as the brunette had told him.
Dipper wrote down all the information the patient had given him during making the appointment with him by call earlier that day. But as he gradually wrote everything down into the record system, he noticed Bill squirming very nervously, a drop of sweat running down his forehead. Actually, with his pale face, he looked like he was going to pass out every second. Fearing that he would have to take care of a blacked-out patient, Dipper stopped his work on the computer and turned to the patient.
"Is something wrong, Mr. Cipher? Are you nervous? ”
"Oh, hell yes!" The earl replied without thinking. He didn't know what made him blurt it out like that. Maybe it was because of the dental drill and the tools that lay on the metal tray next to him. Each time he remembered the terrifying sound of drilling, he got a goosebump all over his body. Agh, God, that pain - that terrible pain! If Bill's heart hadn't been dead, it would have been pounding fast now with all the fear he had.
The dentist saw the patient in the dentist's chair panic more and more, so he gently grabbed his shoulder and said with a smile, "It's okay. Most of my new patients come here scared, or even with odontophobia. But I can promise you that there is nothing to worry about. " His warm hands felt surprisingly nice on Bill's shoulder as if the touch had somehow helped him calm down. He watched those kind eyes and how they looked into his golden ones. Then the brunette opened his mouth again and added. "Since you're my last patient today, why don't I help you feel a little comfortable and offer you a glass of water while explaining everything so you don't have to worry about the procedure. How does that sound? ”
Bill couldn't say no to such an offer.
As the dentist poured water into the glass, the vampire tried to look around. Although from his last visit to the dentist Bill had an impression of how scary the interiors of the dentist’s office used to be, this was an exception. Like the waiting room, the room was painted in a nice pastel color - baby blue, on which were silhouettes of fish. The floor was made of white marble tiles, and there was a small black rug next to Dipper's computer. The furniture here was made of white wood - a counter, cabinets on which to lay cute fish and shark stuffed animals, a large table with a PC and photos of the family, a side table by a small black coach, and several shelves on the wall, full of books. Not to mention many plants around.
But he was most interested in the huge aquarium on the wall next to the folding dental chair. Inside it floated many exotic fish that were playing, hiding in small aquarium castles as hideouts, or somehow were watching Bill. The vampire never had an aquarium as such, so the little cute fish were definitely great for relaxing and forgetting about the nervousness.
"Alright, here's your water." The dentist handing him a glass caught Bill's attention back. "Thank you. Are you doing this for all your patients?” The curious Count asked, and Dipper chuckled. "Mostly yes. I try not to be feared by people, especially by small children." He said as he sat down on a chair by the dentist's chair. "Actually, as a child, I hated dentists because of how scary they were. It wasn't until I became interested in medicine and how to care for patients that I was somehow motivated to become a dentist whom patients love. ”
"Well, it sure looks nice here, I have to admit." Bill nodded, "Even the receptionist was very nice to me. She even looked a little like you. "
"Oh, that's because we're twins."
"Wait, really?!" Bill almost choked on the water and returned the empty glass to the dentist. Dipper found the reaction quite funny. "Yes. Although I could not entrust Mabel with the work as my assistant, as a receptionist she is really good. She has been very sociable and energetic since she was a child, so she enjoys this job. ”
"Oh, I see- Ouch!" The vampire suddenly cried out in pain. Dipper looked at him in worry and asked, "Are you alright? Does it hurt too much? ”
Oh yes, it hurt like hell. These short but very intense and severe pains made the count mad. He wished so much to have it all over him - the pain and this visit to the dentist. Dipper could tell, from Bill's point of view.
"Lie down and I'll look into it, okay? Just relax. ”He told Bill, wearing rubber gloves and a surgical mask. Bill did as Dipper told him and swallowed nervously. He knew exactly what would happen now…
Dipper will see his fangs.
Bill somehow didn't want to scare the young dentist with his appearance. He really liked the brunette. He was kind, empathetic, and with a heart of gold. Few could be so willing and kind to their patients in Bill's experience. And the fact that Dipper was different from all these stereotypical dentists made him unique.
"Say Aaaaa~," Dipper said in perhaps the most beautiful voice ever, and Bill obeyed. He closed his eyes and let Dipper work. Somehow he expected the first reaction to be horror at Bill's fangs. Surprisingly, he was not. Instead, Dipper tapped teeth-explorer closely on the tooth, testing them, and watched through the mouth mirror what condition they were in. After a while, Bill screamed out in pain as the teeth-explorer touched the right spot. Bill felt Dipper put the mouth mirror in place, carefully examine the damage, then took everything out of Bill’s mouth.
"Looks like you have a small but deep cavity in your lower right molar. I will need to drill it, clean it and put a filling there. Which one, it's up to you. I make both whites and amalgams.” He replied as he cleaned the tools and placed them back on the tray with the others. Bill's stomach clenched again in fear. Just the word drill gave him goosebumps. He didn't want to ever feel that terrible pain ever again.
"Are you all right?" Dipper raised an eyebrow, noticing the change in Bill's face. "I-I'm fine. I just have quite bad memories of my last visit to the dentist. Lots of blood and pain…” The Count replied quietly, and the dentist looked at Bill in surprise. "Like without anesthetics and any proper treatment?! Oh my god, I'm not surprised you're so nervous! Because if the patient is in pain and he, as a doctor, doesn't offer him anesthetic or painkillers, then I personally consider it a monstrosity.” It took him a moment to calm down, and as he tried to straighten his hair, he said, "I apologize for my behavior. I'm just really sorry that something like this happened to you."
"No, that's fine. It happened a long time ago. I'm sure it won't be that bad. ”Bill assured him, letting them both calm down.
Then there was silence…. Quite a long silence.
They both stared at each other, not knowing what to say. Did Dipper wonder about Bill’s fangs? Did Bill have something between his teeth? Oh, if only the dentist said something or went straight to work! Bill was sure Dipper thought he was too big of a scaredy-cat, looking like a monster.
He took a breath to try to break the silence when Dipper suddenly spoke, "Those fangs... are they natural or made by plastic surgery?"
The Count blinked twice in confusion.
"Pardon?"
"Your fangs. I think they look absolutely gorgeous, so I'm a little curious." Dipper took off his surgery mask and touched Bill's lips gently as if wishing to touch those sharp teeth again. Bill couldn't react but blush. No one in his life had ever told him that his fangs were beautiful . Scary, yes, but beautiful?
"N-no... I was born with them," The blushing vampire replied, feeling Dipper watch the sharp fangs closely. "...They're scary, aren't they?" He whispered, but Dipper heard him very well anyway.
The vampire's heart sank with fear.
He watched Dipper's surprised expression turn into… enthusiasm? The vampire couldn't believe how the stars of excitement appeared in Dipper's eyes, a smile on his face. “Scary?? Not at all! They are absolutely gorgeous ! One can rarely see such a thing! And with your perfect teeth, absolute first-class quality. Not to mention that those fangs look so good on you and…"
Ah, Dipper said too much, didn't he?
He felt their faces turn red and it got warmer in the office again. Why did Dipper feel that this new patient was somehow too cute?
"T-thank you. You're the first to ever tell me this…” Bill whispered, clearing his throat aloud. "W-well, but couldn't we move a little? That tooth really hurts a lot. Money is not a problem for me, so I would prefer a white filling. J-Just… will it hurt?”
"Oh, not at all. I will give you a local anesthetic so you will not feel any pain during the whole procedure. In fact...” Dipper cleared his throat, too, and rose from his chair. But he returned immediately, pulling a blanket and a shark-shaped stuffed animal out of the box. "I know it's a bit childish, but my younger patients always use shark Fang here to reduce pain and stress. And if that helps, the blanket will keep your feet warm and give you a sense of security.” He explained, but Bill just smiled. "That sounds pretty nice. T-Thank you, Doctor."
"You don't have to call me that. If you let me call you Bill, you can call me Dipper. "
Wow, since when was Dipper so unprofessional? Ever since a handsome sexy man lay in his chair with a perfect smile?
-------------------------------------
After a little conversation about the whole procedure, a little sweet talk, Bill put his head back on the dentist's chair, leaving Dipper to tilt it to a lying position. He watched as Dipper put on the surgical mask and took the hi-fi tower controller from the bottom of the table. "I'll put on some music for us so you don't have to focus on the sounds of the drill, okay? I'll be done in 15 minutes. I'm guessing you prefer classical music, am I right? ”
"Oh yes. But how did you guess? ”
"Well...I adore classical music myself. Especially Schubert and Chopin. "
"Oh, I love those too!"
Wow, a nice, cute dentist with a golden heart and great musical taste. This guy started to like Dipper more and more…
"Okay, it's going to hurt a little now, got it? Try to calm down and close your eyes. If anything hurts too much, raise your hand, okay?" Dipper lovingly instructed Bill as he prepared the anesthetic, Bill nodded, closed his eyes, and opened his mouth wide. Fang and the Blue Danube really helped him calm down, and to tell the truth, Bill was no longer afraid. He knew that Dipper would be gentle with him and that there was nothing to fear.
He believed Dipper…
As soon as Bill felt a little pain in his gums, he knew there was no going back. But he was fine, he knew everything would be fine. He let his mind relax, suppressing the sound of the drill with wonderful waltz music in his ears. And the fact that Dipper made sure to ask from time to time, if Bill felt comfortable, in the vampire left a feeling of warmth.
Actually... His mind began to create cute thoughts - what would it be like to take this precious bean on a date, kiss his nose, hold hands… There was no doubt that he really liked this brunette boy.
He wondered how to offer something like that. After all, Dipper was just trying to be a nice dentist, wasn't he? If he was refused, surely further visits to the dentist (if Bill agreed to keep visiting Dipper for check-ups) would be more than awkward. But there could also be a chance that Dipper would say yes…
“ ...Bi...ll ...Bill? Open your eyes, it's done.” A gentle shake on Bill's shoulder brought him back to reality, where Dipper was right next to his face, smiling broadly at him, with the mask off. It would be enough to move their head a few centimeters forward and their lips could….
Ah, Bill really was a lost cause.
“Huh, really? That was pretty quick and painless.” Bill smiled, too, blushing slightly. But he was surprised when Dipper blushed a little too. Why?
"Well, I did my best. After all, it would be a shame for such beautiful teeth not to look nice, along with your pretty face . ”
Oh… fuck. It was an arrow straight to the heart.
Bill, lost in Dipper's eyes, forgot that Dipper was just his dentist, and he leaned in and kissed those beautiful soft lips. And to Bill's surprise, he didn't push back right away. Dipper stayed there, surprised for a moment but then completely sunk in the pleasure of a kiss, gasping and then dividing their lips. It was a sweet, wonderful kiss that sent butterflies in the belly of both men.
And so, out of breath and blushing, Bill whispered "D-date me~."
It wasn't until Bill said those words that he realized what he had done and began to blush sharply. Oh, God! What did he think he was doing ?! Has he gone crazy over loneliness? He couldn't just kiss his dentist! Now he will never be able to look Dipper in the eye again and…
Wait… why was Dipper smiling?
"Wow, you're pretty direct, aren't you?" Dipper chuckled, looking at the calendar on his desk. "Well, I shouldn't date my patients, but I have to admit you're pretty cute and my type, with those beautiful fangs of yours. Maybe if you pick me up tomorrow night to go to dinner together, I'll think about this whole 'dating thing'. ”
Bill had no words.
He couldn't believe the young dentist had said something like that. Was it a reality, not just a wonderful dream?
"Are you serious?" He asked, and Dipper nodded. "Of course I am.. Or do you have any other plans for tomorrow evening?”
Then he handed Bill a cup of water so he could rinse his mouth and clean it from the rest of the filling, which he couldn't even see in the mirror. Dipper did a really great job he could be proud of.
Bill blushed more as he rubbed his neck, looking at Dipper.
"N-no. Actually, tomorrow sounds pretty good. So… I have to pick you up here at 9 pm here in front of the clinic or… “
“9 pm sounds good to me. I can not wait, Bill"
-------------------------------------
They talked with Dipper for a while, giving Bill instructions on how to care for his teeth and filling, then Bill bowed and thanked Dipper for everything, closing the door behind him. His cheeks were red from blushing, his chest felt pleasantly warm, and he had a big smile on his face.
Well... He sure couldn't wait to visit his new dentist again…
