Work Text:

Leo Valdez stares at the leathers hanging over his cupboard door and lets out a sigh so dramatic it wakes the person in his bed up.

“What's wrong, my Ardor?” That voice is made of rolling hills and cracking lightning and all the most comforting moments in a life.

“I am uninterested in getting dressed for duty today.” He looks to the crumpled white sheets, and the moving shape that twists around, getting caught in the material.

“I know a guy that can excuse you.” Prince Jason Grace smirks, and Leo swears his skin turns to fire.

He laughs, and launches himself at the bed, where strong arms catch him without hesitation. “That would make me a very bad captain.”

“But a wonderful boyfriend.” Is the charming reply.

“You are such trouble Prince.” He teases, brushing warm fingers across golden cheeks.

“I’m your trouble.”

“And you’re going to make me late.”

“Stay,” His prince breathes into his neck, hands still wrapped around him as if the world could explode and they would never move.

He feels their heartbeats, slow and steady, lazy with their love for each other. Winding rivers, unhurried winds, wild wild wild with love. He doesn’t say anything, as he stares at Jason, unable even now all these months later, to believe that this is his life. That he has the privilege and the pleasure to see the sky each morning and feel the wind against his lips each second they can get. He feels almost as if he is living a rather vivid, far too perfected dream.

The universe is but an artfully constructed web and he doesn’t yet know if he’s a spider or a fly. Just then Jason smiles, wide and unrestrained and it takes him several seconds to control his breathing. He is blinded by happiness. He decides he can wait a little longer to find out if he’s the predator or the prey. For now he is safe.

“You’re five minutes late, Captain.” Prince Jason teases.

Leo flicks his nose, kisses his lips. “I set the clock back. I have an hour.”

The laughter he is met with engulfs him whole. He is the prey, being devoured by this warmth.
