"I'm actually not so sure about this, anymore," Phoenix calls out, pulling at the lapels on his suit. It's a nervous tic he picked up years ago, and it's funny how he immediately goes back to doing that again.
"Come on, Wright." Miles' voice comes through the door. "It's just like your old suits. Stop overthinking it."
Well, that's a hard request.
"I guess?" Phoenix's voice cracks and he desperately wants to facepalm.
"Just come out."
"I did, years ago."
Phoenix can practically see the twitching eyebrow on Miles' face. "... That is not what I was referring to. Come out of the bathroom before I decide to leave."
Phoenix takes in a deep breath, then exhales as he opens the door, stepping out. He pulls at his lapels again. He probably should get a new nervous tic, shouldn't he?
He stands there, letting Miles take in the way his suit fits on his body.
"You look--" Miles blinks. "Good."
Phoenix raises an eyebrow. "Thanks, Miles. I guess. Is that all you have to say...?"
Miles' tongue darts out for a half a second to moisten his lips, and then he visibly swallows. "You look good, Wright. It, uh, suits you."
"Well, I'd sure hope so," Phoenix says, looking down at his fit. "It's a suit, after all."
They both make eye contact, holding it for a period that feels like it's a bit too long, as if they're waiting for something to happen.
Phoenix doesn't know what that something is.
"Well, at least you have a suit now." Miles sighs. "I suppose I'll be seeing you in court."
"That's a promise!" Phoenix grins.
Miles looks away. "Right. Anyway, I should be going now."
"Alright?" Miles doesn't usually announce his exits. He usually just gives a lame excuse and leaves. Or just leaves without warning. "I'll see you sometime."
As Miles leaves the room, Phoenix wonders what the hell just happened.
