Work Text:
“Do you really have to leave?”
Sara winced at the tone. It’s almost as if Ayaka was pleading.
“It is my duty after all,” she looked at the girl next to her whose head was leaning on her shoulder. They were sitting on the floor with their backs against the wall. “Just like how you perform yours as the public figure of the Kamisato family.”
“I’m aware.”
The situation made Sara want to laugh out loud.
If anyone found out about this, she could literally turn all of the hatreds of the inazuman bachelors and bachelorettes for their greedy archon towards herself.
Ayaka was Inazuma’s most treasured possession after all.
And Sara who’s nothing but a loyal servant for the oppressor had her all to herself.
Had the privilege to see her being vulnerable.
Blessed with her touch and affections.
Those mongrels would die to experience this.
“Sara.”
“Yes, Princess Ayaka?”
Ayaka pouted. “Stop calling me that when it’s just the two of us.”
“My bad. Force of habit.”
The two fell into a peaceful silence.
It’s always like this; Sara would visit the Kamisato residence during late hours of the night. The doors leading to the balcony would be open just for her.
But all good things came to an end.
And for them, it’s where their differences laid upon themselves.
Why is Her Excellency pursuing eternity?
Why did She have to declare a vision hunt decree?
What is Her plan for the people?
Does She not hear the cries and whispers of Her own people?
And yet, the words never left her mouth.
It’s an unspoken rule between them.
The answer was not what Ayaka was seeking for after all.
The princess looked up at the loyal servant who seemed to be deep in thought.
When they started to cross the boundaries and bared themselves to each other, they had accepted the risks and consequences. And Ayaka was no fool. No, she’s far from that.
She’s a calm and collected person. Wise and strong. Poised and graceful as well as noble and virtuous.
This oasis in desert of theirs, the heavenly escape from a life full of duties and expectations, was a little secret that they shared with each other. Call it exaggerating but she’d rather have her vision being taken away than losing this – whatever you call it.
She knew.
And it’s probably not long until She eventually did something about it.
How was Sara able to hide it from Her for so long was beyond Ayaka.
She wished for more time.
Ayaka unconsciously tightened her grip on the other girl’s hand. Sara didn’t say anything.
If this was why The Shogun yearned for eternity, then she supposed she could start to sympathize.
“I need to go.”
“Oh,” Ayaka pulled back. Her expression fell. “I understand.”
The loyal servant huffed. She hated seeing her like this.
Ayaka was about to return to her own chamber and make a room for her to leave when suddenly she felt a pair of lips on the crown of her head.
Sara smiled fondly at her.
“I will bring chazuke next time.”
“I’m looking forward to it.”
That smile, reserved just for her alone to receive. That attention she could never get enough of.
Oh, how she felt so greedy at the moment.
And yet, those three words; she could never say it out loud.
“Right,” Sara made a way towards the balcony. “I’ll take my leave.”
“Yes.”
And just like that, she vanished into thin air.
After all, duties came first.
