Summary
“Kiss me.”
Robin balked at that, mouth gaping and a laugh tearing from her chest almost maniacally. But Nancy remained steadfast. She made her sincerity quite clear as she set the bottle to the side and climbed forward so she sat upright, on bent knees and beckoning for Robin to do the same. Robin was never one to disobey Nancy Wheeler, and she dare not start now.
Mirroring Nancy, Robin leaned forward before she lost her nerve entirely. Gentle, soft, and quick, with the faintest smack of lips as she pulled back. Nancy’s eyes dragged open, and the corner of her mouth quirked upwards.
“What are we, twelve?” Nancy goaded her. “I said show me, Buckley.”

Summary
A year kidnapped. Seven years of stolen memories. A war she supposedly helped end, faces she supposedly knows, a life she supposedly lived. It was all quite convincing, except none of it felt like hers.
Something had been erased from Katara's mind. Something that mattered enough to steal.

Summary
“You’d spoil your children rotten.”
Columbina laughed, light and musical. “And you’d make an excellent co-parent. You’d fix their toys and tell them bedtime stories full of formulas.”
“I would not.”
“You would,” she teased, flicking a dot of blue paint onto Sandrone’s cheekplate. “And you’d pretend you didn’t enjoy it.”
The Kuuhenkis swirled around them then, each glowing a different hue due to the paint dyes — blue, gold, rose, and green — forming a halo that painted their faces in color. Columbina leaned back, eyes still closed– Sandrone missed seeing her eyes, but she did not say this outloud but there was one unforgettable thing about her former colleague, her expression was always serene.
“This,” she whispered, “is what it must feel like to be human. To make a mess, and call it love.”
Sandrone looked at Columbina for a long time, a small smile tugging on the corner of her lips — then quietly returned to cleaning the last jar of dye, her movements slower now, gentler. And when a Kuuhenki clumsily dropped a droplet of color onto her metal palm, she didn’t flinch this time. She let it stain.

Summary
Columbina had left. She had left just as suddenly and forcefully as she had first inserted herself uninvited into Sandrone’s life. Still, when the Palestar Edict came from above, Sandrone could not help herself. She was going to Nod-Krai.
Or: Sandrone and Columbina disastrously fail at feelings and communication (but somehow things still work out).
