She sneaks into the dungeon at night, attempting to see the prisoner for herself. Yet, instead of finding an embittered warrior, all Princess Azula sees is a girl her age, scared and alone.

Summary
When Zuko was nine, his mother wasn’t able to save his life – but the Spirits wanted him to live on – however something went wrong and the young prince was thrown across fabric of known reality and found himself in unfamiliar land. As it turned out, another four continents existed beyond four nations, however abandoned by the Spirits and Avatar itself – a reality where everyone was at odds with each other. But Zuko wasn’t a type to give up so easily – then he met a girl, a peer with unique type of bending that was unheard of. Together they fought tooth and nail to survive in harsh reality of a cruel civil war.
Since then, six years have passed – Kiyomi and Zuko finally can breathe with relief, the bloody war ended with the rebels victory and the capital was seized by the allied forces of the Resistance. But fate is a cruel mistress – Kiyomi stumbles upon a rift in the reality and the pair finds themselves in the South Pole.
But the Hundred Years War is not prepared for the duo of relentless, hardened child soldiers that went through hell and back. They’ll end this conflict, once and for all – no matter what it took, they had to end it.

Zuko has not worn a red uniform in over seven years. His bones burn underneath his skin. Through these rags, anger fries his nerves. He needs to accept it, his fate as a traitor, but the chambers in his chest can not ignore this ache. And now there are blue eyes staring at him from across this cell, and he is unsure if the spirits intended for him to ever let go.

Azula was born from the sun. She was a daughter of Agni and thus was better than anyone else. Fire was flowing in her veines and electricity spiked in her soul. She soaked in the warmth that came with the fear people had for her, she soaked in the warmth to be followed without questions by her friends. She burnt constantly, too hot for anyone to come close, too bright.
When her eyes fell for the first time on the man she was to marry, her wrath was glacial.
When she understood the goal of her father, she accepted that she would never know warmth again.or Azula came back home with everything, proud and victorious. Ba Sing Se has fallen, the Avatar is dead and his bunch of misfits could as well be, the dragon of the West is in shackles and Zuko is back. Everything is perfect (not that she would allow it to be any other way). Or it is perfect, until the Fire lord decides to marry her off.
or I read somewhere that Azula was supposed to be in an arranged marriage during season 3 but it was abandoned because it did not fit the direction of the show so here I am. Including revolutions and sibling bonding.

Summary
Nine years after the war ended, seven years after she escaped the asylum, five years after the search was called off, Azula is forced to go back to the Fire Nation.
She has no intention of reconnecting with the people who hurt and abandoned her, no intention of bowing to the hypocrisy of her brother and his friends, no intention of staying any longer than she has to in this nation she sacrificed everything for, only to be discarded. She wants nothing more than to go back to her simple life as a farmer.
There is, however, one reason why she will go back and play her part. A young girl who has no one else in the world, a young girl who understand what it is to be rejected by your only family. The only one who has looked at Azula and seen something worth loving.
She will do whatever she has to to ensure that the girl doesn't grow up like she did.

That's what everyone says. And it's all she likes to show. And maybe that's not a bad thing, considering the first supposedly safe thing she ever loved turned her into a weapon - hiding a scarred little girl underneath layers of cold, unfeeling steel made for violence, fire nation nationalism and Ozai's inflated ego. But her father never paid enough attention to realise she's a pubescent girl. And love is kinda what they do. Love through coersion with a general that still gives her nightmares. Love for people that she can't show.But for Tai Lee it's different. Oh so, so, different. It's sick. But she feels safe. Safe and the one she want to protect and love despite it being the only thing absolutely anyone prohibits. But that can't stop her stubborn soul, the same one who has found herself taking Tai Lee on a date.

And in an instant, it had all come crashing down. Zhao had come back from the dead and, acting on her father's orders, stripped her of her command. Ty Lee's mother had stolen her away to secure a marriage to a man she hardly knew, and worse yet, Ty Lee had gone willingly, no longer able to bear seeing the person Azula had become.
Both heartbroken and distraught Azula and Ty Lee must now return home to the Fire Nation to face their destinies...but destiny has a way of turning out in unexpected ways.

She dragged the tray across the floor and sat cross-legged in front of it, eating in stoic silence. She wished she had a chair. A princess would have a chair. A person would. But she had burnt hers. Her eyes flickered to the scorch marks along the walls, the blackened metal door frame and hinges.
They were scared of her.
Good. Let them be afraid.
All Azula would need to escape is a helpful hand from an unlikely source. Someone, perhaps, who saw her true potential.
