Chapter Text
The silence of the room was shattered by the sounds of sobbing. Dean opened his eyes, his vision blurry as he looked around the darkness of his room. He had been in a deep sleep before he was woken up by the sound.
As his eyes adjusted to the darkness he could make out a figure standing at the foot of his bed. The familiar shape of the trenchcoat and broad shoulders, which were heaving up and down, told him exactly who it was.
“Cas?” He asked in a hoarse whisper. His voice thick with sleep.
“D-Dean,” Cas choked.
Dean sat up, realizing that Castiel was crying hard. His mind went immediately to Jack. His heart raced, fearing the worst.
“Cas! What’s going on? Where’s Jack?” Dean said loudly.
“Jack i-is fine. Dean, it’s horrible!”
“What?” Dean yelled.
Dean jumped out of bed and went to the angel to comfort him, trying to get him to spill what was wrong. He had never seen Cas like this. Cas was sobbing uncontrollably, unable to control his emotions. He leaned into Dean, crying hard onto his shoulder as he rested his head on him.
“Cas, talk to me,” pleaded Dean, now even more concerned.
“They took away the potatoes, Dean!”
Dean froze. Confused, he mouthed the word ‘potatoes’ to himself. He didn’t understand, he asked Cas to clarify.
Cas pulled back and looked at Dean. In the dark of the room Dean could just make out Cas’ face. His cheeks wet with tears, his eyes creased, his breathing heavy.
“They took potatoes off the menu,” he cried.
“Cas, I have no clue what you are talking about, man.”
“Taco Bell!” Cas stated loudly.
“What?”
“Taco Bell took potatoes off it’s menu!”
Dean let out a deep sigh. “Cas, you’ve never had Taco Bell. You’ve never even had a potato.”
“That’s not the point, Dean!” Cas says, annoyed at Dean for not being distraught at the news.
“What is the point?”
“They took them away and now I can never try the potato griller.”
“Cas, did you want to try it?” Asked Dean, annoyed and too tired to be dealing with this.
“No,” whimpered Castiel.
“Cas, you really woke me up for this?”
“Yes,” replied the angel softly.
Dean paused a moment before replying. “Okay, well I need to go back to sleep, man. It’s been a long day and we have to head out in the morning. Did you want to get in bed with me and cuddle, try to calm down?”
Cas sniffed, wiping his face on the sleeve of his trench coat. “Yeah.”
