“Are you sure it’s okay, if we stay here? What if you need a mind link?"asked M'gann anxious.
"We’re gonna be fine. It’s just an observation. Wally, Kaldur, Robin and I can handle that. The rest of you deserves a break,” you told her while you gave her a goodbye hug.
“It’s time sparrow.” you turned around to see your brother robin and the other boys looking over to you.
“Coming” you shouted and ran to them. When all four of you stood in the zeta-tube you gave the rest of your team, which had free today, a wink and Wally activated the tube.
—————
“Okay. Kid flash and sparrow observe from a distance and robin and I sneak in there,” you heard through your comm.
You said: “Aye aye captain,” and climbed onto a three near you. You scanned the surroundings with the integrated glasses in your mask, kind of like kid flash’s. You saw some yellow streams come to you and rolled your eyes. Wally came to a stop at the bottom of your three and looked up to you.
“How is the view from up there?” He asked with his typical smirk on his lips.
“Quite nicely actually, but not what I expected. There’s no sign of our target.”
Wally was about to say something, but you held your hand up to signal him to be quiet.
“Did you hear that?” you whispered and looked around you.
“Hear what?”
“I could swear I heard a cat.” As on command there was a meow in the distance. You jumped down from the three and landed smoothly beside Wally. There was another sound and the both of you turned around to be greeted by a familiar cat.
“Shit. It’s a trap. Klarion is here,” you tried to tell robin and Kaldur, but your comm only gave you a loud feedback.
“What are we gonna do?” whispered Wally, but before you could answer the ground below you started to glow and you looked down and saw a strange pattern that reminded you of one of the Sigils from supernatural. You followed your first instinct and tried to run out of the Sigil, only to be stopped by an invisible wall. You looked at Wally, who looked at you, and, expecting the worst, smiled at him honestly. Only seconds later the glow transformed into a blinding light and your body felt like your inside got ripped out and replaced by acid.
—————
“It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have let her go without me,” sobbed M'gann and held her head between her hands.
“No it’s not. Even if you…even if we were there and she would’ve had the mind link we wouldn’t have been fast enough to stop Klarion,” said Artemis while she rubbed M'gann’s back. The both of them, Conner and Kaldur sat in front of the leagues medical center.
The second Kaldur and robin saw the light in the forest they knew something was wrong. They tried to contact you and Wally, but the connection was gone and so they ignored the original mission and made there way to the forest and what they found, made robins heart stop for a second. Both, his best friend and his little sister, laid unconscious, maybe even dead, on the burned ground, which looked like someone tried to summon a demon.
Kaldur immediately ran to you side and checked for your pulse, but robin just couldn’t move. He was frozen in his place and couldn’t look away from your move less body.
All these years ago, the moment when Bruce introduced you to your new brother dick swore to protect you with his life, but he failed.
He just couldn’t stop blaming himself. When Kaldur told him that both, you and Wally, still breathed and had stable pulses he felt a wave of relive wash over him, but he still felt indescribable guilty.
Kaldur picked kid flash up and robin picked you up and they brought you both instantly to the league instead of mount justice.
While Kaldur contacted the team, dick needed to face Bruce.
He was sure Bruce would reject him and tell him to disappear from his life, it was his responsibility to take care of you after all, but what he did’t expect was that Bruce came up to him after Dick told him what happened and hugged him. Hugs in general were fairly rare in the Wayne family, but being hugged after what had happened…was indescribable.
The only word Dick was capable to form was: “How?” Bruce backed a little bit away so that he could look him in the eyes and raised his eyebrows in confusion. Dick took a deep breath and asked: “How can you hug me after what I’ve done? Y/N is your daughter and you maybe lost her because of me…”
Dick didn’t dared to look his adopted father in the eyes and a sob shook his body.
“How couldn’t I?” Bruce stroked his son on the cheek with his thumb and wiped away his tears, even if his eyes were also watery. “I know how terrible it is, if you feel responsible for something you had no control over, especially if it’s about someone you love…and even though I hope it isn’t the case, if I lost a daughter today, you also lost a sister and I couldn’t be mad at you after this, especially because I know you did the best you could.”
Dick was speechless and the only thing he could do was to return the hug.
“I think we should go and see her.” The both of them went to the medical center were they saw Robins four teammates in front of a closed door. When Kaldur noticed them coming nearer he stood up.
“I’m really sorry for what happened.” Bruce shook his head.
“It isn’t your fault. It’s Klarion’s and we’re gonna make him regret doing…whatever he did.” A nurse came out of the door, looked at the group and nodded her head slowly.
“You can see the both now.” Batman went to the door, but stopped with his hand on the handle. He turned around and looked at the team.
“What about Flash? Does he know…what happened?” Superboy nodded.
“We called him. He’s on his way. He was in Europe when we called, so it could take some time.” As if on cue Flash appeared and looked like he was slightly out of breath and Bruce knew that he must’ve ran as fast as he could.
“Where is he? Will he make it?” he rambled almost to fast to hear.
“You need to calm down Barry. You’re not helping him…them…if you freak out.” Even though it sounded a bit harsh Barry knew that Bruce only meant it good. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and calmed himself down.
“You’re right,” he said while he reopened his eyes.
The seven of them walked through the door into the clean, white hospital room, which was filled with the steady beeping of two ECGs. Wally and you laid in two hospital beds and looked like you were asleep, but everyone knew better. Bruce walked over to you and even though his cowl hid his face everyone could sense how depressed he was at the sight of his little girl laying there unconscious. He took your hand in his and closed his eyes.
“I’m sorry Angel. I shouldn’t have send you out there so soon.” Flash went over to his friend and colleague and laid his hand on his shoulder. There were no words that would make the situation better, so Flash just let his hand laying on Batman’s shoulder and took a hold of his protege’s hand. The second he touched him a yellow glow made is way from Wally to Flash and from you to your father, where both glows met each other on the point where Flash’s hand laid on Batman’s shoulder. Both adult superheroes backed away immediately.
“What just happened?” asked Conner confused. Before anyone could answer you and Wally sat up with glowing yellow eyes. A loud crack made everyone twitch, but only a second later your and Wally’s eyes were normal again.
“W-What happened?” you asked looking at your Father who looked at you like you just grew wings. You looked around to see your team and Flash looking at you exact the same way, except for Wally who was sitting next to you in a hospital bed. Wait…Hospital? You looked down to see that you also laid in a hospital bed. Surprised you jumped off of the bed and with that ripped your father and your team out of their trances. You overestimated the power in your legs and almost fell, but Dick was there fast enough to give you support.
“I think you should sit down again.” You looked up to him, since you were smaller than him, and looked at him angrily.
“No! I won’t sit down until you explain what happened.” You shook off his arm and looked at your Team questioning.
“She’s right. Why are we in a hospital?” He also jumped off of his bed and came to your side. You looked at him and he cave you a reassuring smile, than he looked back to his Mentor, “If you don’t tell me, I’m just gonna run and get the information.” Instead of waiting for an answer he made a typical running pose and you prepared yourself for the wind that would come, but it didn’t. Wally ran, but in a normal speed, and stumbled in surprise. Flash caught him before he could fall right on his face.
He put Wally onto the floor.
“W-What? Why? I…I’m slow,” he whined and everyone looked at him confused. Flash growled: “Klarion…”
At the sound of the name memories of what had happened flooded your head and you felt your chest getting tighter. You didn’t needed to be a rocket scientist to recognize a panic attack when you had one, but that didn’t really helped you in the heat of the moment. The only thing that was in your head was that you needed air. You pushed everyone out of your way to get out of the room. When you made it into the hall, which felt like hours, you started to run to the exit (forgetting that you were in a base in space) only to be surprised by your unnatural speed. Not knowing how to handle said speed you crashed face-first into the wall.
From the loud sound alarmed, everyone came out of the hospital room only to see you laying on the floor, groaning in pain and rubbing your forehead.
“What happened?” asked your father. You pushed yourself up with help from the wall and looked at them.
“We have a really big problem,” you said before walking over to them while saying: “Whatever Klarion did, it took Wally’s powers and…well, gave them to me.” Wally looked at you amused, only to see the super serious look on your face.
“You’re kidding,” he said a little worried, “right?” You nodded your head ‘No’ and shrugged your shoulders.
“Sorry,” you said honestly.
“Prove it,” said Artemis with a suspicious undertone. You sight and let your head fall into your neck.
“Fine.” Knowing what would happen, you started to run and crashed, again, into the wall.
“Damn,” said your older brother, while you walked back them again.
“Wait…does that mean I have your abilities?” Wally asked a little excited. He turned to Dick. “Attack me.”
“What?” Dick asked.
“Just do it.” Dick shrugged and threw a punch at Wally, which he tried to dodge. Emphasis on tried. Now he was the one that groaned in pain, because Dick’s punch hit him right in the face.
“Sorry. My fighting skills come from hard training,” you said while raising your eyebrows amused.
“What are we doing now? Wally is…I don’t wanna say useless, but…well, useless without his power and Y/N can’t fight probably when she crashes into everything around her, every time she tries to run,” asked Kaldur while scratching the back of his head.
“We need to find Klarion and make him take the spell back.”
