Work Text:
Dear George,
Where do I even start? You’re amazing, and somehow able to make an entire fanbase worship you. You’re perfect, and definitely worthy of the praise that you receive from everyone on a daily basis. You’re funny, and have an excellent sense of humor.
One of my favorite things is when you get angry. And I will admit that I do piss you off on purpose. Although I only do it just to see that adorable look on your face when you insult me back.
I wish you’d picked me instead.
I remember when I’d gone over to your house to play Minecraft. In the end we’d just sat in front of your TV watching movies and throwing popcorn at each other. That’s probably when I’d started falling for you.
Apparently, that’s when you’d fallen for me too.
I wonder if you’re doing this too. Professing your undying love in a letter. Although I’d assume you’d be writing it about him instead.
He used to be my best friend too, you know.
I’m sorry I wasn’t enough for you George. I’m sorry that I wasn’t as handsome as him. I’m sorry that I’m writing this stupid note in the first place. I’m sorry that I took too long to tell you. I’m sorry that I still haven’t told you yet.
I don’t want to hurt you.
I never wanted to hurt you.
He’s so much better for you. I can see that now. He laughs with you, he agrees with you, he’s never fought with you.
Is that why you love him more?
I wish I could’ve told you how I felt before. I guess he just got to you first. That’s what hurts the most.
It hurts because I know I could’ve had you.
I remember the first time I saw you, standing there in the airport. You looked breathtaking, with your long brown hair thrown over your face as you stared at your phone awaiting the message from us to tell you we saw you.
You’d looked up and saw us, and ran straight into his arms.
You’ll never read this, I’ll make sure of that. I’ll probably take this to my grave. If you do end up reading this, well, I guess that’s bad news for me huh.
If you are reading this, the only thing I regret is not being able to tell you myself.
I love you George.

George stared at the letter in disbelief. His hands clutching at the worn paper. The writing was smudged, and the paper was warped from dried tears. It’d been written a while ago, and assuming what it said, it was never supposed to end up in his hand.
George had just gotten home from a date with Dream, and the letter had been laying on the table. He’d rushed to Sapnap’s room after he’d read the first line. He’d hoped it was a prank, a big joke that Sapnap was pulling on him.
His heart had sunk to the bottom of his stomach when Sapnap wasn’t there. Everything was still in place, the only thing missing was his phone.
Dazed and confused, George had turned to the letter.
As he finished reading, fresh tears rolled down his face as he realized what this meant. Sapnap wasn’t coming back.
