Chapter Text
It all started with that blasted first kiss. No, actually it might’ve begun way before, but the exact time? Nightmare wasn’t so sure. Those pitch black sockets did something to him. They put him in a trance he couldn’t escape. And, if he was being honest he didn’t want to.
Their relationship was disfuncional at best. Both of the skeletons were clearly attracted to each other and every time their sockets met, Nightmare’s eyelights lit with excitement. Before Killer appeared, he never knew how much he would crave for someone’s attention, his attention.
Killer was like an addiction, one that Nightmare certainly didn’t mind. He was enticing. From his lips slipped out flirtatious comments and words of praise that clouded Nightmare’s judgment. He knew better, he knew their relationship was unstable, and anyone with any common sense would have immediately put an end to it. But, he couldn’t. Not when his whole being begged for his affection, his touch, his embrace, and Killer’s whole being.
Ever since their first kiss, Nightmare found himself at the other’s mercy. Many sleepless and restless nights the violet skeleton promised himself that ‘this is the last time’ ‘just one more night’ but he always found himself circling back to that bastard.
There was also a time where Killer couldn’t stand the sound of Nightmare’s name being called. The violet skeleton carried an arrogant aura to him, looking down on those who weren’t on his level. His posture straight and rigid, his shoulders broad with pride. He was a pompous, self-absorbed, ass. But at some point, the small skeleton peaked his interest.
He had sworn that he would never develop an affinity for this stuck up skeleton. But look at him now, completely wrapped around his finger.
————————————-
It always feels ridiculous doesn’t it? Having a crush on someone, who doesn’t have any feelings for you. Feeling your soul jump every time they look at you. Only to be reminded that you hold no special interest in their minds. It’s... painful. So, what’s the best solution? To simply bury it deep within yourself until it’s nothing but a silly memory. Not like Nightmare needed to do that, of course. Why would he? It’s not like he had feelings for anyone or anything.
Nightmare had witnessed first hand the consequences of forming relationships with other co-stars. It never took long for problems to arise. Nightmare refused to deal with any of it, he already had to deal with other personal matters. Why should he add to his stress?
Tired of the drama that followed, Nightmare swore to himself he’d never pursue a relationship with his fellow cast members. Well, that was before Killer managed to sneak himself into his thoughts. But, it’s not like he’d ever really want to date him. They were both guys... so that would be weird...
Although... it wouldn’t be the first time he felt something strange for a male coworker. Nightmare often found men attractive, but it’s not that he ever really liked any of them, or so he thought. So, this had to be the same right?
And as much as he hated to admit, Killer was one hell of an actor. When he first met him, Nightmare was convinced he was lazy, careless, and a poor excuse of an actor who just happened to get lucky. Killer would, on multiple occasions, show up late on set. Which, in turn, delayed the filming process. Though as Nightmare got to work with Killer more, he realized that Killer ensured that the most minuscule detail was executed properly. Not only that, but he would often improve scenes with his improvisation skills. He would fully immerse himself in his character almost as if it was an extension of himself.
As Nightmare watched from afar he was captivated by Killer’s performance. He’d never seen anyone else execute acting in the way Killer did. Nightmare would never admit it but he would often times find himself staring as the other acted out a scene. It was only a matter of time before Nightmare was caught by Killer. At first the eyeless skeleton thought it was a mere coincidence. But, when it happened a second time, then a third, and as it continued on, he was intrigued.
Killer had been certain that Nightmare couldn’t stand him, as he made it a point to always vocalize his disdain towards Killer. But, perhaps that wasn’t the case.
Eventually, Killer found himself continuously teasing the violet skeleton, in hopes of getting any reaction out of him. Nightmare was decisive, stubborn, and proud. Something that irked Killer, and yet he found alluring at the same time. Nightmare’s defiance only made him want to tear down that resolve even more. Maybe it had started out as a game, trying to see how far he could take it.
———————
Killer cursed those beautiful violet orbs. Those eyelights put him under a spell. Was he always this attractive? The two were discussing something about Killer’s eyelights. Nightmare had been rambling on about Killer’s sockets saying how they were beautiful, like the night sky, or whatever, but at some point Killer had stopped listening. That sweet velvety voice of Nightmare’s just beckoned him closer and closer, until he could no longer resist. He gently placed his own lips on the other’s, throwing caution to the wind.
Once he pulled back, his sockets widened with shock. Oh, well that wasn’t supposed to happen. But did he regret it? Not one bit. Although, he would be lying if he said he didn’t feel his stomach churn when he saw Nightmare opening his mouth.
Oh, no. How would he explain this? He wasn’t entirely sure what he’d just done. No... scratch that, he knew exactly what he’d done. He just wasn’t sure what it fully entailed. Fortunately, he was saved when the director called for Nightmare.
Feeling his soul beat rapidly, Killer clenched the fabric covering his chest. What was wrong with him? It was just a kiss. It’s not like he’s never kissed anyone else before. What would make Nightmare, of all people, so special? Nothing, that’s what. He wasn’t anything special just another coworker. But then that wouldn’t explain why he couldn’t even look him in the eyes right now....
Was it just a kiss? It had only lasted a brief moment, but it was like no other he had experienced before. Killer shivered as he remembered the electric shock that coursed through his body when their lips touched. That certainly wasn’t an ordinary kiss, but Killer refused to accept it. There was just no possible way, that he was even remotely attracted to him. He wasn’t entranced by those violet orbs, he didn’t want to taste Nightmare’s sweet lips again, and he certainly wasn’t thinking about him now.
————————-
few days passed since the kiss and Killer ensured to avoid the violet skeleton as much possible. Or, at the very least, he made sure they were never alone. He could see the annoyance and confusion in Nightmare’s eyes. He wanted answers and Killer wasn’t sure if he could provide any. He had an idea of what Nightmare could ask. ‘Why did you kiss me?’ But at this point, Killer wasn’t so sure. He was still trying to decipher that question himself. Was it possible..? No, there’s no way. But then again.. what other reason did he have? Did he.... did he actually like Nightmare..?
It was as if he’d been hit in the gut with realization. Oh.. maybe he did have a thing for that violet pompous ass. The only problem is, he wasn’t entirely sure what his exact feelings were.
—————————
Nightmare grumbled as Killer avoided him yet again. It had been over two weeks now that he had spoken to the eyeless skeleton privately. He had a thing or two to say to that asshole. Ever since that stupid kiss... Nightmare paused. He gently traced his lips with his fingers. It all happened too quickly, he didn’t even have time to register what happened when suddenly Killer’s lips were parting from his own.
Nightmare had just stared at the skeleton in front of him, dazed. He couldn’t think straight, a fog clouded his thoughts. He opened his mouth, wanting to question what just happened, but unfortunately he was interrupted by the director. He was foolish enough to leave because unbeknownst to him, Killer wouldn’t allow them to be alone for some time.
He needed to get him alone, but how? The violet skeleton placed a finger on his chin, brainstorming ideas. After a few minutes he let out a frustrated sigh, nothing. He couldn’t think of any possible way to isolate that idiot. Killer was sly and always appeared to know what Nightmare was up to.
“Cut!” A voice boomed from the set. “Alright everyone, that’s it for today! Great job as always! I’ll see everyone back here tomorrow!”
A lightbulb lit inside the skeleton’s head. This was his opportunity to confront Killer! He would have to change from his costume and remove that obnoxious make up. This would be his best bet to confront the other about the kiss, and he wasn’t going to waste it.
Nightmare waited a few minutes to allow the actor sufficient time to hopefully get his bearings together. The last thing he wanted to do was see Killer undressed... well.. not that he wouldn’t mind- actually that’s besides the point. Sucking in a deep breathe Nightmare’s hand hesitantly hovered over the doorknob. His stomach churned and an acidic taste pooled in his mouth. He was too engrossed in getting Killer alone that.. he completely failed to formulate a decent plan. Too late now, he’d just have to wing it.
The violet actor quickly knocked on the dressing room door, to provide a slight warning, and immediately turned the knob letting himself in. With as much courage as he could gather he stared right into Killer’s.. beautiful.. dark... elegant.. sockets... shit. This was going to be more difficult than he imagined.
“We need to talk!” Nightmare was thankful that his voice at least did not falter.
Killer stared at the skeleton in front of him, sockets blown wide in shock. He knew Nightmare had been trying to isolate the two of them, but he didn’t expect him to be so straightforward. It was rather interesting really.
Crap, Killer isn’t saying anything and panic overtook Nightmare’s initial burst of courage. A lump formed in his nonexistent throat and words failed him. He needs to confront Killer. He needs to know what that kiss meant. He needed to ease this uncertainty that gnawed at his soul.
Just. Say. Something. Anything! “You can’t just kiss people without permission!”
The violet skeleton tensed upon hearing his words. Like that was the biggest problem right now. That certainly wasn’t what he was planning on saying. Again, not like he had a plan to begin with but he definitely did not expect to say that.
Killer tilted his head to the side, lips curling into a smile, clearly fascinated by the events unfolding. He had braced himself to be bombarded with questions. To be called an asshole or some insult of sorts. But to his amusement the usually proud Nightmare was a nervous wreck in front of him. Quite adorable and alluring, actually. “Oh, right. My apologies.”
Apo- apologies?! What does that mean? So, did Killer not mean to kiss him? Or was he being insufferable yet again? Damn it! Just why did he have to be attracted to such an arrogant bastard?! “Why would you-“
“I guess I have a thing for you.” The eyeless skeleton mused as he threw his jacket over his shoulder. He wasn’t sure what type of reaction he was expecting. Annoyance, confusion, maybe even anger? But when he saw a purple hue tainting those white cheeks of his, Killer was genuinely surprised.
Nightmare froze. Did he hear Killer correctly? He had thought of several different answers that Killer might’ve given, and this wasn’t one of them. This response only served to bring new questions to surface. He knew Killer to be flirtatious and cunning, but he was not a liar. He felt his cheeks begin to burn and he was powerless to stop it. Strange emotions bubbled in his chest and threatened to overtake him. The strangest one of all being... that he was happy? But why would he be happy... that didn’t make any sense.
He wanted to provide some sort of response, maybe even a snarky remark but the words caught in his throat. He couldn’t form a single coherent thought much less a proper sentence.
“Well, I’m about to head to my place,” Killer’s words barely registered in Nightmare’s frantic mind. All he could do was provide a stare in response. “You want to come over?” When Nightmare made contact with those beautiful midnight sockets he sucked in a quick breathe. All the violet skeleton could do to keep from making a fool out of himself was nod.
Killer let out a breath and his once tense shoulders relaxed. “Cool.” He sounded indifferent but that’s only because he was trying to mask his enthusiasm. The skeleton grabbed his belongings and made his way out of the studio, with Nightmare following close behind.
————————
As they strolled down the bustling sidewalk, Nightmare grew increasingly anxious. His mind raced with all sorts of ideas and scenarios. He just wanted to be prepared for anything, well that’s what he kept telling himself. Maybe they would talk about the kiss a little more? Or, maybe Killer would refuse to speak anymore on that matter. But, what if Killer kissed him again? That was a possibility. The eyeless skeleton did say he had a thing for Nightmare. Glancing at the taller skeleton in front of him Nightmare slightly frowned. What exactly did that mean?
Did he want a relationship with him? Was it possible that somehow Nightmare peaked Killer’s interest? Nightmare paused for a second before continuing to walk again. Maybe... Killer just wanted to have a one time thing with him? Nightmare was aware of the countless partners Killer had, and his various flings. He was a flirt and it wasn’t difficult for the taller skeleton to catch someone’s attention.
Nightmare’s gaze fell onto the paved sidewalk. He felt something ache within his soul. Maybe he had just gotten his hopes up for nothing. Well, it was to be expected. Why would Killer want to be with Nightmare? They constantly fight, there’s no logical reason for them to be together.
Nightmare paused for a second and his eyes widened. Wait. He was so enthralled by the kiss and busy with isolating Killer he hadn’t given this much thought. Did Nightmare want to be in a relationship with Killer? His male co-star? Then that would mean... that.... he... was attracted to men..?
No, that couldn’t be it. Surely he would’ve realized that sooner. Another pause. Well... he couldn’t be gay... because he was attracted to and had female partners. He glanced towards the tall skeleton. Was he attracted to him...? Maybe...? Could he possibly be bi?
There was that one guy last year that..... fuck.... Nightmare closed his eyes briefly and recalled all the previous partners he had and any male person he ever considered attractive...... Oh...... Ha.... great so on top of having to deal with Killer now he needed to question his own sexuality.
But.... if he was bi... it would certainly explain his affinity to previous male coworkers. He inwardly cursed at himself. Or course, it just had to be Killer, of all people who awakened this dormant side of his. This certainly added to the inner turmoil he was already experiencing.
Nightmare wasn’t the only one who ran various scenarios in his head. The eyeless skeleton could’ve sworn that Cross mentioned that Nightmare’s straight. But if that were true then wouldn’t have the smaller skeleton reacted in a different way? Surely a straight man would be disgusted if he were kissed by another man, right? Perhaps Cross made a mistake or misunderstood something. Well no matter he had other things to focus on.
He was still trying to understand what exactly made him be so attracted to someone as unbearable as Nightmare. Killer glanced back, and his gaze fell onto the skeleton’s mouth. Turning his head back, he had to admit he’d like to kiss those pretty little lips of his again. Except this time it would be a proper kiss. The eyeless skeleton shook his head, he was going off track.
Killer was certainly interested in Nightmare. He realized that much after the kiss. The smaller skeleton only succeeded in adding to his interest by his unexpected reactions in his dressing room. And now, he’s following him to his flat. Though, that could be because Nightmare is still seeking answers. The tall skeleton sighed, he wished he could have a casual relationship with Nightmare. Have some fun here and there with no commitment. But knowing how prudent the smaller skeleton was, he would probably never sleep with anyone that wasn’t a long time partner. Such a shame really, he would’ve loved to see how much it wouldve taken to unravel that facade of his.
————————
Once they arrived at Killer’s apartment studio, Nightmare was immediately greeted by Killer’s kitten. The small skeleton stiffened as the feline circled around him before gently rubbing itself alongside his leg. He gave the eyeless skeleton a puzzled and concerned look. Nightmare didn’t know what to do. Would it be ok for him to move? Should he stay still? This was unfamiliar territory for the violet skeleton.
Killer chuckled before kneeling down and calling Crackers to return to his side. After one last nuzzle the kitten slowly trotted back next to Killer, meowing in response. The eyeless skeleton’s facial expression softened. He gave a radiant, warm, and kind smile as he gently stroked the kitten next to him. “I think Crackers likes you.” He murmured.
Nightmare gaped at the skeleton kneeling before him. He felt his soul beat loudly against his chest, almost certain that the other could hear it as well. Killer was so gentle, delicate, and affectionate. The violet skeleton had never seen this side of him before, and it only served to confuse him even further. Finally processing what the other had said he barely formed a response. “O-oh.. that’s good..”
Killer let out a soft laughter in return before slowly standing once more. “It sure is. So, you just going to stand there? Don’t worry, I don’t bite... well not unless you ask me to.” He winked before turning around and proceeded to his kitchen, with crackers following close behind.
Nightmare’s cheekbones burned upon hearing Killer’s flirtatious comment. It was almost comical how easily Killer could fluster him. He was never like this, not with anyone he could remember anyway. This isn’t good.. if this continues he’ll risk falling for Killer’s charm. But, maybe he already had. Why else would he be here this very instant. In the flat of the person he claimed to despise.
He glanced back at the door. He still had a chance to turn around, leave, and pretend nothing ever happened. That might have been the most reasonable thing to do, but his curiosity was too grand. Nightmare wanted to see where this would lead him. Against his better judgment, the small skeleton decided to stay. He had questions he needed answers to, and the only way he’d obtain them would be through Killer.
“You’re more than welcome to sit on the couch Nightlight,” Killer mused from the kitchen. “You look like a nervous high school student standing by the door like that.”
Nightmare’s face instantly flushed with a bright violet hue. He knew Killer loved pet/ nick names or whatever you want to call it. But he typically used the same generic ones like sweetheart, babe, dear, hot stuff, prick, ass, and various other things. Point is, he had never heard Killer call him by a nickname ever, especially not a variant of his actual name. Funny enough, if it was pitch black where you can’t see a millimeter in front of you, he would definitely be able to provide enough light from his blushing face.
“Y-you know what? This was obviously a mistake. I shouldn’t be here.” Nightmare’s nerves were getting the better of him. The more he stayed the more he felt he was losing himself. He couldn’t keep himself from staring at Killer’s lips, nor keep himself from wondering.. how the other would look without a shirt....
Let’s backtrack. When he opened Killer’s dressing room door, he managed to catch a glimpse of some bare ribs that wereusually hidden behind several articles of clothing. It was a forbidden treasure he shouldn’t have laid eyes on, because he couldn’t stop replaying that image in his head.
No, he was just confused. He doesn’t know what he wants. It’s all too much! First he discovers he likes Killer! Or maybe he doesn’t? Next he discovers he’s bi... or so he thinks. And to top it off he wouldn’t mind seeing Killer shirtless again! With his mind running amok he failed to realize that the taller skeleton approached him and trapped him with no escape.
“I thought you said you wanted to talk? About how I can’t kiss someone without permission?”
Killer’s voice pulled him from his thoughts. Upon looking up he was met with Killer’s dark vacant sockets. He knew killer said most people found them unnerving, but to nightmare they were like two mesmerizing black holes that sucked him in. His breathe hitched in his non existent throat. Without thinking and purely acting on instinct Nightmare clanked his teeth against Killer’s. It didn’t last more than a second, and that was him being generous about it.
But once he pulled away the small skeleton wanted to be swallowed by the earth and disappear forever. That was supposed to have gone better! What the hell was that?! It’s like he’s never kisssed anyone before which he has! He’s an actor for crying out loud! He knows he’s a good kisser!
Killer blinked a few times, processing the event that just occurred. It was unforeseen and certainly not what he expected at all. He chuckled before pulling back and rubbing his mouth a bit. “You’re a terrible kisser Nightingale.”
There he goes again, another nick name. That’s it. Nightmare has sealed his fate into the hands of a playboy and he put an embarrassingly little effort to prevent it. “S-shut it! I-I just tripped is all!”
Killer raised a brow in amusement “Oh? You tripped while standing still? That’s some talent.”
If there was any physical way to blush any harder Nightmare would have discovered it. His whole face and neck were glowing with a bright violet hue. “G-Go screw yourself!” Stuttered the violet skeleton as he shoved the taller away.
The time went by with Killer mostly teasing Nightmare about his terrible kissing skills. Killer also mentioned that he indeed found the him to be physically attractive. The eyeless skeleton was not about to lay bare that he may have some possible feelings for the other. No, It’s too early for something like that. Besides that wasn’t his style. He’d rather keep a casual relationship.
A few hours passed and the pair had situated themselves on the couch. And once again Killer would not let up on Nightmare’s disastrous attempt of a kiss. “You should really practice some more. I feel bad for your co-stars who had to kiss you.” Killer mused. He found Nightmare’s reactions to be the most entertaining thing in the world. He still had planned to give the violet skeleton a proper second kiss, but he was having too much fun at the moment.
Nightmare had enough. Killer wanted a proper kiss? Then he’s getting what he deserves. Which is what exactly? Who knows but nightmare wanted to prove him wrong at the very least. Closing his eyes, he grabbed Killer by the collar, pulled him close, and placed a firm deep kiss on Killer’s lips. He shivered as he felt that electrifying sensation course through his being. Killer let out a muffled noise of surprise, but immediately wrapped his arms around Nightmare’s waist to pull him closer.
It felt so... perfect.. the way Nightmare’s body pressed against Killer’s... being wrapped in his arms, it just felt natural. The violet skeleton couldn’t remember feeling so at home within someone’s embrace. He wanted to stop time to savor this, and to burn the moment into his memory.
They were already so close, Nightmare could feel the gentle warmth Killer’s soul emitted. Yet it wasn’t enough. Bundling his collar in his fist the smaller skeleton pulled the other closer, an attempt to further minimize the space between them and adding a grating pressure against their lips. It brought some relief to his growing desire for the other, yet it did nothing to subdue it. As if realizing what the Nightmare felt Killer tilted his head to deepen the kiss.
—————————
It was a tease, just how close Killer was to discovering how this violet skeleton tasted. Yet, the other refused to allow him entry. Killer could sense it, apart of Nightmare still hesitant to let himself get lost in the moment. Well Killer assumed so anyway, gathering by how tense the skeleton was. Fortunately for him, Killer had previous experience to help smooth that tension away. The eyeless skeleton tightened his embrace while sliding an hand to gently cup the back of Nightmare’s neck. A simple action that communicated his eagerness to dominate the kiss.
Sensing what Killer was trying to do, the violet skeleton refused to submit. No! He can’t do this! He began parting his lips in protest. It’s not fair! He started the kiss so Killer had to be the one to- in that moment Nightmare’s eyes widened as he felt something warm and slick slip past his teeth. Killer had a gift for knowing when a person’s defenses were down and never missed such a golden opportunity to overpower them. Especially when the current skeleton was someone who hardly lowered them.
Nightmare’s gravest mistake was to open his eyes and stare directly into the others black sockets. Even if he didn’t have eyelights Killer’s piercing stare had such intensity that Nightmare’s resistance melted instantaneously. He’d never had someone gaze at him with so much want before, and it was absolutely insane how thrilled that made him feel. Having Killer’s tongue inside his mouth was maddening, he’d never experience anything like it. Like Killer. He couldn’t think straight and he didn’t care. All his thoughts were overridden by Killer’s existence.
—————————
It was as if something snapped inside him when the violet skeleton initiated that second, well technically third kiss. Killer didn’t know where this would take them, and honestly he didn’t care. Right now he’d go to the ends of the earth if that’s where the smaller skeleton lead him. He could feel Nightmare’s defiance through the kiss, not completely unexpected but it only fed his hunger for more. The violet skeleton had briefly parted his teeth as if to protest, and Killer being an opportunist decided to plunge his tongue into the other’s mouth.
The violet skeleton tasted similar to green apples, initially a sour taste but the more he explored his mouth he discovered a hint of sweetness. Killer opened his eyes, as something in the air had changed. The eyelights once crisp and clear with defiance that stared him down were now hazy and filled with desire. Nightmare no longer resisted instead he submitted to the skeleton before him. He firmly wrapped his arms around the eyeless skeleton pressing himself as close as he physically could.
It was all a blur, Nightmare closed his eyes for what seemed like a second and upon opening them again he was pinned on Killer’s bed. Strangely enough, he didn’t feel any distress being encaged by the other... he actually felt safe, protected, and shielded from any possible dangers. He welcomed the blanket of warmth the eyeless skeleton unknowingly provided. Meticulously, Killer weaved a hand underneath the layers of Nightmare’s clothes and carefully ran them alongside his ribs. The violet skeleton shivered as he felt Killer’s cool fingers delicately trace his warm and sensitive bones. He was astonished upon realizing how someone he considered to be brusque and rough could be so dexterous and gentle.
Nightmare took in a shaky breath as he felt Killer’s lips brush against his neck. Killer’s breath felt hot against his bare bones, sending a wave of heat throughout his soul. If he could actually form coherent thoughts he’d be absolutely embarrassed by how such simple actions easily unraveled him. Yet, now he wanted to do nothing more then to let himself get lost in the sensations.
Nightmare placed his hands on Killer’s broad chest. Even through the clothing the violet skeleton could faintly trace the outline of the others ribs. His breathe hitched in his nonexistent throat as his thoughts began to wander.
Killer was intoxicating. It seemed that with every little action the eyeless skeleton did it only served to fuel Nightmare’s craving for him.
Killer positioned himself to where he hovered merely centimeters away from Nightmare’s face. The taller’s face was flushed- his breathing ragged from the unfolding events. Nightmare’s own chest rose and fell quickly as he tried to recover as well. This was the first time since they initiated their kiss that Nightmare wasn’t enveloped in newfound sensations. He gazed into the eyes of Killer’s seemingly never ending sockets. Such a mystery... Nightmare never could seem to figure out exactly what the other was thinking. But having time to recollect his thoughts uncertainty gnawed at his initial enthusiasm.
Yes, Nightmare had partners before and he wasn’t completely clueless on adult matters. Except, he’d only ever been with women. His knowledge was extremely limited. He was growing anxious from his lack of experience, but decided against voicing his concerns. It couldn’t be that different, right? He was aware of the potential consequences if he stayed, and a part of him was hoping he’d be right.
As Killer panted, he let out a breathy chuckle. “Heh... and to think that... Crisscross thought you were straight..”
That question tore Nightmare from his thoughts and back to reality. Well... he wasnt wrong. Nightmare had only just, possibly, discovered he might indeed be bi.. but he himself wasn’t completely certain of that fact either. Maybe it was because his defenses were down, or because he was so entranced by Killer that he blatantly responded with “Yeah... so did I.” Immediately realizing what he just said he instantly clasped his mouth shut.
The eyeless skeleton tilted his head, troubled by the response he’d received. “What...? Nightlight.... what exactly do you mean?”
The violet skeleton squirmed under the watchful gaze of Killer’s sockets. It was... strange having the other have such concerning features displayed on their face. Especially when he was the cause of it. “N-nothing... just get on with it...” He shifted his head and eyelights to the side to avoid Killer’s interrogating stare.
The taller skeleton pulled away, he narrowed his eyes in a pensive manner. As if, trying to complete a puzzle with the few pieces of information he’d been provided. After several excruciating seconds of silence Killer responded, “You’ve... never been with a guy before have you?”
Silence. It was the only way Nightmare could respond. Why did it matter if he’d been with another man or not? What difference did it make? He bit his lip, he’s already come so far already, only for it to be ruined by something so insignificant. “Ive.... slept with other people...” He knew he couldn’t lie, at least not in this situation. Killer would be able to tell... or somehow get him to confess. So his best option was to answer yet avoid the question with a simple truth.
The eyeless skeleton furrowed his brow bones together. It bothered him. Contrary to what most people liked to believe he wasn’t a complete idiot. It was fairly obvious to deduce that from his previous reactions that Nightmare hadn’t been with a man before. That isn’t what irked him. No, he was upset that somehow the small skeleton didn’t trust him enough to confess he would be his first.
Once again silence filled the room. The violet skeleton could feel his soul hammering against his chest. He wanted to do nothing more then to curl up into a ball and disappear. Why was Killer being so silent? Did it really make a difference if he was experienced or not? Nightmare felt his soul drop. Could it be that... He preferred to have a partner with experience...?
“But not with a man..... Nightlight..... look at me.” Killer’s voice was stern and unwavering. It took Nightmare’s entire will power, not to turn his head to glance at the skeleton. He couldn’t. He was too scared, anxious, and upset to look at him.
“Nightmare. Look at me.” Killer demanded, his voice filling the painstakingly quiet room. The violet skeleton’s head instantly snapped to face the other. He couldn’t refuse Killer, not in that tone. The eyeless skeleton never used anyone’s actual name unless requested... or if it was a serious matter. For as long as he’d known Killer, he’d never called him by his given name. He swallowed dryly, his stomach churning fearful of what the other could possibly be thinking.
“A-and if I haven’t....? Then what... are y-you just going to leave me?” Nightmare’s voice trembled terrified he’d be abandoned and cast aside. Like in the past. He despised everything that was happening at this very moment. From the way his voice trembled, the was his sockets burned- threatening to spill tears, and how helpless he felt. He hated it all. Killer wasn’t anything to him. They were companions... maybe not even that they were just costars. Why...? Just why... he shouldn’t be feeling this way. So, why did his heart ache?
Killer froze. He’d never seen Nightmare in such a state before. Sure Killer was upset that the smaller skeleton hadn’t communicated the situation appropriately, that’s the main reason he asked for clarification in the first place. He never mentioned leaving. Why would the other think that in the first place? Certainly something must’ve happened in his past to conjure up an idea like that. Well.. he would have to uncover the secrets and fears the skeleton kept hidden another day. For now he needed to ease Nightmare’s current worries.
“Don’t be ridiculous, I’m still planning on finishing what I started.” He’d wink and offer a playful smirk, hoping to relieve some of the tension forming in the air. Nightmare only offered a couple of blinks in return causing tears to spill from his sockets.
“Then why-“
“Well, I wouldn’t want to scare you by going full out you know? It’s not the same if you’re used to always being the one giving verses being on the receiving end.”
Nightmare’s face flushed with a bright violet hue. Even if it was true, it was still rather embarrassing to hear out loud. Especially since he was enticed by the words ‘going full out.’ “I-I.... you.... it’s not a big deal... it’s not.. that different is it..?”
Killer shrugged “Well from personal experience.. you don’t just want someone sticking it in with no warning. It’s kind of a pain in the ass.”
Nightmare barely resisted the urge to shove the other away. He couldn’t believe it! He was absolutely shameless! Making such ridiculous and crude comments like it was nothing! How could he- Nightmare’s initial indignation quickly dissipated when he saw the playful and carefree smile that formed on the other’s face. It was such a lighthearted action- Oh. Was Killer just trying to help him relax? That was... sweet of him. Still, there had to be better ways he could’ve gone about that.
“Idiot...” The violet skeleton muttered with a traitorous smile forming on his lips. Killer chuckled in response and gently placed a delicate kiss on the others lips. Melting most of the small skeletons troubles away. “So... you caught me... I don’t have experience... so now what..?
“Hmmm,” the taller skeleton mused “Well now that I know I’m your first, I’ll be sure to make it special.” The unbearable smirk formed on Killer’s lip, causing the small skeleton to draw in a quick breathe. “I’ll be sure to ease you into it...” Nightmare squirmed and whined as he felt the others cool hand gently caress the sides of his ribs. “All you have to do is relax.. let me do all the work.. and I’ll take care of you..”
“Oh but one more thing....” Killer lightly tugged at his own shirt . “This is staying on...”
