Summary
Hermione struggles with her identity and purpose as Harry and Ron move on to begin their Auror training. Draco is forced to return to Hogwarts in order to secure his inheritance, and must to battle his past in order to find hope for a future. A challenge brings them together, changing their perspectives as both dark and light rise from the ashes of war.

With a stubborn set of her jaw, Granger stepped forward, standing as tall as she could to meet his eyes. "No.""No? No, what?"
"No, you will not do this on your own. I made a promise. We will see this through."
Draco did not miss the way she cringed as she said the word "we." He straightened his spine and peered down at her, wondering how it was possible this tiny creature, with her inferior blood and foolishly confident attitude, was able to become an idol in the Wizarding community, while he, with a vast fortune, pure blood lines, and his own sharp mind, had fallen to become a disgraced outlier. The little spark inside him ignited by their shouting was quickly snuffed out.
"Why?" he asked her again, his voice strained. "Why did you agree to this?"
