Work Text:

The scars that littered Izuku’s body told a story. He remembered every single one.

The little cuts and tiny pale patches of skin from being on the playground and hitting his knees on the edges. Spark burns from when Kacchan was only just learning how to use his quirk. The one time he got so excited to see a hero fighting that his sleeve was caught by a sharp metal fence that ended up poking and cutting his forearm.

When he still had his right arm, the scars, burns, and crooked bones gave him constant pain. Even after decades of having a prosthetic, the throbbing from old scars could still be felt.

Injuries from battles littered all over Izuku’s body, the same as Kacchan. And yet, none of the injuries were able to take either of them out or force them away from their shared passion. They got what they had always wished for: to retire together in a small, cozy home. To be together.

“Damn you, Deku. Why can’t you watch where you’re going?” Kacchan grumbled, first aid kit in hand. Izuku giggled. He almost forgot about the bump on his head and the tiny cut on his cheek.

“I was being careful, Kacchan! Promise!” he tried to defend himself while shifting closer so Kacchan could easily feel his scalp to find the bump. Kacchan scolded him even as he moved to clean the cut and covered it with a bandage. “Kiss it better, please?”

Kacchan scowled. “Why do I put up with you?” He leaned close anyway.

“Because you love me. And I love Kacchan,” Izuku grinned. He sighed as he rested his head on Kacchan’s shoulder. “I was just thinking about life. Maybe if I try hard enough, I can remember all of my other dreams. Did you have any, Kacchan?”

“Of course I did,” Kacchan scoffed, squinting at the TV. “Always wanted a pitbull instead of that shitty pom my old hag insisted on getting just to spite me.” Izuku giggled. He remembered Sweetie. Sweetie was an absolute menace unless there was food involved. “Hawaii for our anniversary always sounded nice.”

“It does. I would love to do that with you, Kacchan.” Izuku wrapped his arms around Kacchan and was pleased to feel Kacchan wrap his arm around Izuku’s waist.

“Next year though. Round Cheeks and Glasses are going next month and I don’t want to be seen with them.” Izuku chuckled before yawning.

“Of course, of course. I really want to sleep right now. But I’d love to visit Nabu Island again.”

“Alright, fine. I love you.”

“I love you, too.”
