Bakugo knows it’s rude to look over someone's shoulder when they’re texting. He knows that if someone were to do that to him, he would wring their neck without question. So if you asked him why he’s reading Mina’s text messages over her shoulder, he wouldn’t be able to give you a sufficient excuse. His curiosity got the better of him and that’s really all he has in his repertoire.
That, and the fact that he saw his name and maybe she was texting a certain redhead that maybe Bakugo had a thing for.
Maybe.
It doesn’t matter, what matters is that his name is in their messages and Kirishima’s bizarre response.

He moves on before Mina notices him. Kirishima’s response confuses him and it makes his eyebrows pinch together as he walks. He doesn’t know what those letters mean, he's not the most familiar with texting lingo, slang, or things of the like. Do they stand for something? It’s by far the longest and weirdest acronym he’s ever seen. Is it some type of code? A language only he and Mina speak? Bakugo doesn’t have a single clue.
So when he retreats to the confinements of his dorm and distracts himself with some homework before finally giving in to his tugging curiosity, he does what any logical person would do - he asks Kirishima.

Bakugo didn’t believe Kirishima for a second. It didn’t feel right. He always had a spidey sense when Kirishima wasn't telling him the truth, or at least the full truth. So he decided to turn to the internet. Keyboarding smashing is what Kirishima called it, so that’s what he typed in the search bar before hitting the enter key.
After some very clinical definitions that weren’t very helpful he finds a link to Urban Dictionary that looks much more promising. He clicks it and scrolls through the various definitions. Some are just literal keyboard smashes, no other context, just a bunch of letters which makes him scoff with annoyance. There is one that serves as a key, he screenshots it.

But then there’s one that catches his eye and he feels himself smile with satisfaction as he reads.
4. Keyboard Smash: A random configuration of letters and or numbers that are composed due to a spazzfit.
With fangirls, this is generally caused by seeing something so sexy they have no way to process a proper thought and instead seizure on top of their keyboards. Seeing something that reminds them (or provides the existence) of their OTP is will also induce a keyboard smash.
Alternatively, the keyboard smash can be induced if something is funny, cracktastic or all of the above all at once.
He takes a screenshot, feeling oddly happy with the possibility that Kirishima’s keyboard smash was because he thought Bakugo looked sexy and even more so, he rendered the redhead speechless. It made his stomach churn with excitement and no, he didn’t even bother to analyze what it all actually meant. He didn't waste his time delving into the buzzing thoughts of happiness and acceptance just at the sheer fact that he was attractive in the eyes of his best friend. Or at least he hoped that's what it could be.

Bakugo hears something crack on the other side of his and Kirishima's shared wall, knowing Kirishima just broke something before his phone buzzes in his hand.

And if Bakugo pumped his fist into the air in the privacy of his dorm, well, that was his business.
