Reminiscing with Hop was one of Gloria’s favorite pastimes.
Since they'd known each other practically their entire lives, they had whole stockpiles of memories together, and they never ran out of funny things to talk about. Even after they’d gotten married, Gloria enjoyed remembering days gone by because it filled their apartment with laughter and guaranteed that Hop would blush at least once.
“Wait, wait, wait, Hop, do you remember when we were dating and you told your mom you were gonna stop your training with Sonia so that you could become my bodyguard?” Gloria held a hand up to her mouth, stifling a laugh.
Hop flushed, narrowing his eyes at her. “Hey, I had very good reason to pursue such a noble career.”
With a roll of her eyes, Gloria replied, “You and I both know I could’ve handled all those creeps myself.”
“You could’ve,” Hop agreed with a shrug of his shoulders. “But I didn’t want you to have to.” His gaze darkened. “Some of those pervs definitely deserved jail time for ogling you.”
Patting his arm comfortingly, Gloria leaned farther back against the couch. “Yeah. I guess they probably did.” Her eyes sparkled with mischief. “Your mom was surprisingly chill about your desire for a career change, though.”
Hop’s smile turned fond at the mention of his mother. “She’s always been hella supportive of my dreams.” Then, he threw an arm around Gloria’s shoulders. “And she’s always been supportive of you too.” He smothered a laugh, “I think she must’ve suspected that you might wind up being her daughter-in-law one day.”
With a curious furrow of her brows, Gloria pulled back slightly to look at him, “Wait, really?”
“Yeah,” Hop grinned. “One time, a few days before Lee endorsed us for the Gym Challenge, I overheard our moms in the kitchen, talking about what it’d be like if we got married when we were grown up.”
Gloria’s jaw dropped. “No way.”
Poking her nose with the tip of his finger, Hop nodded. “Yup. I didn’t tell you cuz I figured you’d be scandalized.” Then, he blushed lightly, “I wasn’t, though.”
“Cuz you had a crush on me,” Gloria teased.
Folding his arms over his chest, Hop pouted. “So what if I did?”
“My sweet Hop.” As her Rotom phone began to ring, she sat up slightly.
“Who is it, Gloria?”
Gloria bit back a laugh. “Your mom.”
