Evan Diaz

Summary:

It was a slip of the tongue, but once it was out in the open- just hanging in the air- Eddie knew there was no going back

Notes:

Yes I'm still going to post to the other fic. I just had this idea and have to write a drabble on it before it consumes my thoughts.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Eddie quietly closed his son's bedroom door after he was sure he had drifted off to sleep. Slipping back down the hallway, Buck was already waiting with two beers in hand.

They settled onto the couch like they did every other movie night. It had become their tradition to watch an extra movie with closed captions on. Buck would inevitably stifle a laugh, and without fail, he was always met with Eddie's eyes rolling. "Don't wake him, please

Tonight was different. There were no movies on tv. Only reruns of some early 2000s slapstick comedy-style cartoon that Eddie didn't remember the name of. Well, there was also QVC, but no way in hell was he risking  Buck buying more useless shit "Yes, Eds we do, in fact, need 20 mini white crystal pumpkins. Well, I can buy a bowl to put them in" They were not doing that tonight because he wasn't going to explain to his bank for seventh time that it wasn't fraud- it was just Evan Buckley being Evan Buckley.

For some reason, Buck couldn't contain himself when the chicken was knocked out with a frying pan. Eddie quickly cupped his mouth. "Evan Diaz, if you wake Christopher up, I'll ki-"

Eddie trailed off as his brain caught up to his mouth. It was just a slip of the tongue, but once it was out in the open- just hanging in the air- he knew there was no return. He could've tried to play it off, but the blush rising in his face and the confused eyes staring back at him said it all. Well, shit.

Buck slowly grabbed Eddie's hand and moved it to the couch between them. His hand laid lightly on top, pinky intertwined with Eddie's index finger.

"So to be clear, Eds. You didn't say that because you like see me as a brother or something right, because I thought that maybe... but you've been blushing this whole time"

"No Evan, I..." For a while, a thick silence permeated the air. Eddie rubbed his thumb back and forth over a spot on Buck's other arm.

" So you wanna marry me . You wanna kiss me. You wanna date me. You wanna make love to me"  Buck cheerily teased him in an attempt to break up the silence. He even added a little dance.

Eddie finally looked up to meet his best friend's face "Evan." In seconds (or maybe it was hours, Eddie really wasn't sure), they closed the distance between each other. Kissing Buck made Eddie feel like he was on a cloud. Like a dream he was going to be angry to wake from. As he pulled away from his best friend, his smile grew bigger. Their foreheads stayed pressed together.

"We could arrange most of those now, ya know." Eddie said- darting back to Buck's lips for another kiss. This time he bravely kissed along his jawline, too, settling to nibble on his ear.

"Hey. I'll be expecting that date before you get do anything to this ass." Buck smacked the side of his thigh as he said so for emphasis. Eddie had picked him up and started walking .

"We're still gonna make out like giddy teenagers and fall asleep in the same bed"

"I can live with that."
