Bad Sanses X Reader except no one has any idea what's going on

Summary:

[Rating is subject to change but it will never get explicit]

Really, the reader is clueless, the author is clueless and so are all the Sanses in this fic. Hopefully, you can get them to like you though before anything truly terrible happens. ;)

This is borderline a crackfic but also some seriousness will happen

Chapter 1: Reader wanted to sleep, how did we end up here?

Chapter Text

You rummage through your drawers, searching for a suitable shirt to sleep in as you get ready for bed. The only light in your apartment is coming from your open computer and unfortunately, that’s not a lot. Finally, you yank a [f/c] long-sleeved shirt out and throw it on lazily. Today has been a long day and you can barely keep your eyes open,

You yawn, bringing your hand up to cover your mouth as you finally fall back onto your bed, ready to fall into bed and pass out for the night.

“OW!” You screech instead, upon making contact with the hard floor.

Your eyes shoot open and are immediately blinded by the bright lights around you, a stark contrast with your darkness-shrouded apartment. “Wh-? Huh??” You mumble, your previous tiredness from before replaced with confusion and maybe a little bit of panic. Everything is different. Looking around, you see stone walls and floors, long winding hallways, and tall glass windows covered by curtains that you can only describe as old and hella expensive.

You scramble to stand up and press yourself to a wall, looking around to see if anyone was coming who had heard your shout. You hear no footsteps and no breathing. The only thing you can hear is the sound of wind beating against the castle windows. Or at least, you’re going to assume this is a castle because you have no idea what else it could be. You don’t know how you got here and you don’t know how to get out, so you do the only logical thing you can think of.

Wander these spooky halls until you find a door that looks good enough to be an exit.

So, you do just that, keeping to the walls as you try to keep your footsteps quiet while you walk. You pass by many doors but none that look like they would lead to the outside, they just look like they would possibly lead to a bedroom. And as tired as you are, sleep is now a secondary priority, as your first is to find a way out.

Finally, you come upon two giant wooden double doors at the end of a hall. You tilt your head curiously as you hear raucous voices coming from behind it. This…this is the exit, right? You gently push on one of the doors and are immediately greeted with the sight of a grand dining hall. The voices have gotten louder as well and are clear too, but now you can see who they belong to.

Your eyes widen and your jaw nearly drops in awe as you see so many skeletons! You back away and hide behind the door you had just opened. You’d never seen so many skeletons in one place before!! Monsters had only come to the surface about a year ago but you had only known about that because of the news reports. You lived on the other side of the city to Mt. Ebott. and didn’t have many opportunities to see or meet any monsters. You wondered if this huge castle belonged to the skeletons? It must, right? ‘I mean, it’s an old castle, well technically all castles are old, but there’s a whole bunch of skeletons here, so maybe I accidentally ended up in a skeleton castle?? Is that a thing? Well, it is now-’

“Ahem.” You hear a voice much closer to you than before and turn to your right to see a black skeleton standing there. They look as if their covered in tar but you can still clearly see their facial features which are none too amused. “It’s rude to eavesdrop, you know.” Oh, what a deep voice, you stare in wonder before realizing what they said and furrowing your brows.

“Huh? Oh, I wasn’t eavesdropping, I was just standing here, thinking. Sorry,” You explain and the skeleton stares at you wide-eyed before glaring at you darkly. You wonder what the problem is before realizing that maybe this skeleton thinks that you broke into their skele-castle. Which would mean you are trespassing and probably in trouble. Uh-oh.

Before you can explain yourself, your jaw drops as you hear a squelch and see four dripping tentacles emerge from their back.

“Huh,” you stare dumbly as one of those tentacles wraps around your waist, and you are lifted into the air as they walk into the dining room, throwing open the door you had peaked through earlier. You poke at the slimy tentacle, before shoving at it and realizing it’s a lot stronger than you originally thought. You turn your attention away from the tentacle before your eyes widen, seeing all of the skeletons from before staring right at you. You fidget nervously, not liking all the quiet stares you are receiving. You try to make yourself as small as possible in the tentacles hold.

“Now boys, it appears we have an intruder in the castle.” Yes! You knew it was a castle! And it appears that all these skeletons are skele-boys from what the black skeleton holding you is saying. “Now, who was it that was in charge of defenses?” Defenses? You tilt your head before nodding to yourself in understanding. It’s a castle, of course, defenses are necessary. Your eyes are drawn to a hooded skeleton who has begun to whisper frantically to himself. You frown, wondering if he’s in trouble. Then again, maybe if he had done his job right you wouldn’t be in this situation right now, but who knows? You have no idea who’s at fault here.

“Dust.” The hooded skeleton snaps to attention. “Go fix your mistake.” He nods in response to the black skeletons order and you see him hurry from the room. “Killer.” Ooh, more odd names, you notice, but maybe their nicknames? You realize that being lost in your thoughts prevented you from noticing who it was that responded to the name. Though it seems the problem resolves itself as a skeleton with black eyes and black tears running down his face, stands up.

“Yea, boss?” He answers, twirling a knife in his hand. You stare, impressed that he seems to do so, flawlessly and without worry.

“Go follow him and make sure he does his job right,” the black skeleton says with a sigh, rubbing his temples as if to relieve a headache.

“On it,” this supposed Killer responds, gripping the knife in his hand as he walks from the room, side-eyeing you as he walks by. You suppose the suspicious stare is warranted. You would be suspicious too if someone broke into your home while you were having dinner. You turn back to the remaining skeletons, who seem to be giving you more hostile looks compared to before. You are dropped suddenly, luckily landing on your feet, though unsteady. The black skeleton who was holding you, walks back over to his seat, plopping down gently before folding his hands on the table and leveling you with an intense stare. You feel dread begin to rise in you, seemingly from nowhere and you shiver.

“I’m going to ask you a few questions, human, and you are going to answer honestly. Do you understand?” You nod, sparing a few glances at the other two skeletons beside him. “What are you doing here?”

You blink, furrowing your brow before answering, “I don’t know.” They level you with an unamused look.

“Alright. How did you get in?” He moves on swiftly, but you feel as if you’ve upset him. And you feel as if you’re going to upset him again as you answer, once again.

“I don’t know.” His look has gone from unamused to downright murderous and you flinch.

“‘You don’t know’? Do you have any idea where you are, human?” He sneers the last word and you wonder if you’re supposed to be offended. You shake your head in response to his last question and he scoffs.

“You’re clueless,” His frown turns into a grin, a cruel one before he lets out a dark chuckle. You begin to sweat as the thought that maybe you’re in danger crosses your mind for the first time since you’ve been here. He saunters up to you, holding your chin in his grip as he looks into your eyes and you let out a whimper as the dread from earlier evolves into full-blown terror the more he looks at you.

“I am King Nightmare, and you are now in the possession of the Dark Sanses.”
