    Summary

I wrote this play to represent something that never quite made sense to me. The utter loathing that Salieri felt for Mozart felt a bit too one dimensional, and simply didn’t make sense to hate someone so fully as to commit murder without there being something worse than skill. The fact that Salieri was perhaps infatuated with Mozart, that he loved and loathed him, for being a silly man who has been so blessed, and also for being insufferable made much more sense to me. The old saying of love and hate are both similar emotions was the main idea and theme of this monologue.
