Kara and Lena were stood at the bus stop. Waiting for the number five bus, that goes to L-Corp. when the bus arrived Kara pulled out her old bus pass and showed it to the bus driver, who looked at her confusedly.
"Erm, ma'am, that bus pass went out of date two years ago."
Kara looked at the the price of plastic on her hands and sure enough it had gone out of date three years ago. Kara went into her pocket to pull out her money, but Lena had already paid.
"Here. Two singles to L-Corp please." Lena said
The driver pulled two tickets and kept the change at Lena's request. They took the tickets and sat down in the middle of the bus.
"I hope you don't mind me asking but, what do you need a bus pass for? I always thought you only took the flying kind. That what you once told me anyway." Lena said in a low whisper.
Kara looked round at her after putting her card away in slight anger. "Before I...appeared, I always thought best to fit in, because the people already had..him, so as Cat Grants assistant, that involved getting the bus every morning at seven thirty, to get to Noonans for quarter to eight and taking her latte to her for when she arrived at eight thirty. So I got a bus pass instead of having to pay three dollars every morning." Kara explained in a whisper, trying to avoid people listening into a their conversation.
"But what about you? How do you know what a bus even looks like? Don't you have chauffeurs and about fifty cars of your own?" Kara asked still whispering.
"Why yes I do. But when I was younger and in boarding school, I loved getting the bus. Just liked the sense of normalcy away from Lillian and all that." Lena said smiling.
They felt just like the old Kara and Lena for a second before Kara gave a shy smile, which disappeared in an instant before she looked away, cleared her throat whilst crossing her arms over her chest and looking in the opposite direction.
Kara pulled her phone out of her coat pocket to check the news. She saw that Cat was returning to National city in a few weeks. Finally, she thought, something she can look forward to.
She started to bounce her leg in impatiently, starting to shake the whole bus accidentally. Lena put a firm hand on Kara's bouncing knee to make her stop.
"Kara. Please,stop. Calm yourself." Lena looked dead into Kara's eyes that were bursting with fury. She was about to reply when Lena cut her off. "I know I have no right to talk to you like a friend at the minute or ever again. But if you carry on your going to put a hole in the floor. You have faced worse things than this. I know it may not seem like it but will defeat them."
Kara nodded in reply and Lena retracted her hand. The bus stopped outside of L-Corp and Kara immediately to get off, letting Lena go first and walking off the bus.
