Chapter 1: Before

Chapter Text

Izuku stood in the rubble of UA, smiling up at the dilapidated building, he remembered all the fun memories he had there. The quirk assessment test, where he broke a finger, fighting for his life in the USJ, fighting and breaking bones for the amusement of thousands worldwide, choosing his bullies nickname as his permanent hero name, fighting for his life against All Might and his teammate and bully Bakugou, the forest, where he once again broke his arms and legs, fighting for his life, breaking his arms and legs fighting Overhaul.

When he thinks about it, he had a lot more fun tearing his classmates down than when he was on their side. Now, with the League, he had many more fun memories, the game nights – Twice was the banker and it was hilarious. Watching Twice talk to Shigaraki was fun, he’d say something nice, say something about how ugly Shigaraki’s hair looked today, and spend the next hour screaming and running from a furious Tomura. Watching Dabi burn down the house trying to cook some beans, watching Toga put way too much cooking alcohol in the dish, and they’d all end up drunk. Finding the toilet with no handle in the morning after Shigaraki’s late night stroll. His first date with Toga.

Yeah. He’d had way more fun with the League.

Izuku sniffled. When did he start crying?

Thinking about the league was hard. He’d watched them all die after all.

He’d watched Twice die the first time, killed by hawks, right after Izuku joined. There were a lot of tears after that, although Shigaraki would say he didn’t cry. Luckily, he had been found by a clone of Ujiko and had been fixed back up, good as new, but it had weighed heavily on them. He watched as Spinner, the weakest of the group, was killed by Iida. Stain was right after, having joined the league after the Tartarus break out, by Bakugou. Ujiko had been killed by Miruko, and was therefore unable to save Twice, who was killed by Hawks again. Dabi had followed, killed by Todoroki. Then there was Kurogiri, killed by Monoma. Compress, by Kodai. Giran, however unlikely, was killed by Mineta. Gigantomachia was killed protecting Shigaraki to the very end, by a group effort of Kirishima, Ashido, Bakugou, Todoroki and Uraraka. Toga was killed by Eraserhead. Izuku had tortured him to death, then torn off his head, mailing it to his students. Their screams were, as nice as they were, not enough to make up for the loss of his girlfriend. Shigaraki, the last member left, had been killed by Uraraka, who sent him into outer space. Izuku had killed all of 1A, enraged by the death of his friends.

He now stood in the rubble, looking at the corpses of ‘The next generation of heroes’. He laughed. Looking around at the carnage he had caused.

“See Kacchan!” he called mockingly to the corpse. “I’m not such a Useless deku as you thought!”

He picked up the body and threw it away. The blood was too dry to drink (he’d gotten addicted to the taste when he started dating Toga). The body hit the UA building, bones cracking. He sighed. He had come to love other’s pain before the league, when he was on the run from UA. He had accidentally killed someone in a fight for his life and loved it. He finally understood why Bakugou hurt him at school. It was so fun! For a week, he followed fights all around, jumping in and beating the living shit out of all the members involved. He snapped their necks (he liked the cracking sound; (it was like walking on sticks) and ran to find more. Constant use of One for All made his body hurt, but it was worth it. He had gained an extra 10 percent in 2 days because of it. The past holders didn’t really care. They hadn’t all been heroes anyway, 3 and 5 had been murderers. Now that the reason One for All had been made for in the first place – kill All for One, he was free to do whatever he wanted. It didn’t matter to them that All for One had been passed on. The point of One for All was to kill All for One – the person, not the quirk. It wasn’t their business what happened to it now, all that mattered to them was that the current holder would be happy. If that happiness was derived from killing, then so be it.

Izuku was so trapped it his thoughts that he didn’t hear the cracking of the stone. Where he had thrown Bakugou was a weak point, and it had cracked through. The large block had been tilting ever so slightly, before it broke off with a loud crack. It fell straight at Izuku, and his last thoughts were I wish I could save them.

…………

……………

Izuku opened his eyes to the sound of his alarm clock. His sixth edition silver age All Might alarm clock. The one which he had broken on the first day at UA. Fuck.

He’d somehow gone back it time.

He couldn’t tell if that was a good thing or a bad one. Yay I get to go through the torture Bakugou put me through again. Not fun. But. BUT. I can save them. I can save the league this time through.

He sat up, checking the time on his phone (which had a limited-edition Ultra bronze All Might case). Damn. Why did young him have so much all might stuff? Anyway. As uncomfortable as it was to see the man he hated plastered all around his room, he at least knew what day it was. Monday. The first day of school. his first day at UA. Whew. He had to get going soon. He pulled on his UA uniform, tied his tie into a neat full Windsor knot – yes neat compress had taught him after seeing how chaotic his tying skills were.

“Izuku!” his mother called. “Time for breakfast!”

He put his shoes on, packed his bag, and walked into the kitchen.

“Good morning mom” he said, trying to keep his hatred out of his voice. This woman had blatantly ignored 11 whole years of bullying and she acted like she cared about him? at least he had stopped his mumbling habit, because damn his mother would be kind of creeped out by the thoughts he was having right now. He ate his breakfast, cornflakes, with bacon and eggs on toast, hugged his mother and rushed off for school. absently, he felt himself walk towards the league base, but caught himself. He walked to Musutafu station, catching the bus to school. he decided to see the amount of One for All he could channel safely, and was glad to see it rested safely at 10%. It seemed that using it at 100% had only damaged the amount he could use. Noticing this was his stop, he walked off, passively channelling 2% to increase the amount he could use. This was a tactic he had used during his time with the League, due to an idea of Compress. He had said that it was kind of dumb to be able to increase the amount he could use in battle but no more, so why not use it in a casual setting? It increased his control and gave his body time to grow used to the power. Of course, he had used it at 45% casually, but 2% was the maximum he could use now without sparks flying off his body and getting him arrested. That would be annoying. Getting arrested on his first day of school.

Walking into the gate, he was now allowed to use his quirk, so he pushed it up to 2.5%, enough to bring up the efficiency by 75%, while only sparking slightly. He walked into class, noting Bakugou’s presence – luckily, he was asleep. Iida wasn’t here yet, so he waited. 10 minutes before the bell, Iida walked in, saw Bakugou with his feet on the desk, asleep. Needless to say, he started arguing with Bakugou, angrily saying stuff like “how could you damage UA’s reputation by putting your feet on the desk which our Upperclassmen have sat at?” and other bullshit.

Izuku sighed, now using 4%, bringing Bakugou and Iida’s attention to him.

“Public quirk usage is prohibited!” “Deku! You been hiding your quirk from me this entire time!?”

It was at this point that Uraraka came in, saw Izuku and rushed over “You’re the one that destroyed the zero-pointer!”

“I am sorry I called you out during the exam, clearly you discovered the true meaning of the practical exam!” Iida said, bowing at a perfect 90-degree angle.

“DEKU!” Bakugou swung at him, sparks crackling off his palm. Izuku dodged and looked over to the door, noticing the presence of Aizawa.

Uraraka looked at him, and then looked where he was looking, before screeching. “What is that?”

“It took you 20 seconds to quiet down, except Midoriya.” Aizawa said, noting the sparks flying off his body and Bakugou, who had been tripped by Midoriya, lying on the floor. “I am your homeroom teacher Aizawa Shouta. Meet me in the grounds and put these on” he said, picking a gym uniform out of his bag and throwing it at a surprised Uraraka.

Izuku followed him out of the door while everyone was looking around confused. They followed them out towards the changeroom.
