“Look Hurley, there’s Runo, but he’s soaking wet,” says Iris as she stares out of the window at the view of Baker Street, where Ryunosuke hurtles along the pavement, soaked though like he took a bath fully clothed and scowling; when she gets no response from Herlock, Iris glances over her shoulder and finds Herlock, who had been wide awake when she perched on the windowsill to observe the street below, has fallen asleep, and Iris just sighs, slightly offended by how easily he nods off even when she’s talking to him.
Herlock somehow doesn’t wake up when Ryunosuke flings the door open and stomps inside, grumbling something about omnibus drivers and swearing in a mixture of English and Japanese (her Japanese isn’t brilliant, but Iris always makes sure to learn swearwords in other languages, just in case they come in handy), nor when Iris runs over to Ryunosuke and makes no attempt to be quiet as she says, “Oh, Runo, you poor thing, you must be freezing—would you like a nice cup of tea to warm you up?”
“Th-That would be lovely,” Ryunosuke says through chattering teeth, and when he tugs his wet coat off, accidentally flicking droplets of freezing water straight into her lazy roommate’s face, all Ryunosuke can do is stare in bewilderment as Herlock shrieks and Iris bursts out laughing.
