"LANGA."
Reki's yelling excitedly down the hall as he hears the door open and what's probably his husband muttering his 'I'm home's.
"Reki?" Langa asks, loud enough to be heard clearly as he undoubtedly makes his way further into the house.
Their house. Their home.
Home...
"Lan-ga–!" He sing-songs, quieter than previously but louder than a speaking tone.
"Re-ki–." Langa says, repeating his cadence while his tone remains way more flat.
The floor creaks as the other's steps draw near and he looks up to the man from his position on the floor as he appears in the threshold. He catches the surprise as he blinks before—
"Ta-da!!" Reki gestures to the furniture behind him sitting back a little so Langa has a better view. "It's finally finished!"
He beams as he watches his husband's reaction to the newly completely crib.
Langa's wide-eyed, mouth slightly agape as he stays silent. He steps into the room, partially unfinished but coming together. The only things set in stone are the green accent wall and his newest build.
"Reki..."
Langa carefully drags his fingers along the sanded but unfinished railing. He tests it, tries unfastening the side and sliding it down, fixing the panel back in place as he examines the other sides briefly.
"It's..."
"I know," Reki says, smiling up at Langa before regarding the crib with a soft, fond expression. "Can't believe it's finally done, ugh! That felt like it took foreveeer."
"Forever? You built a whole crib from scratch in almost no time!"
"Yeah, well... Guess I'm just. Excited."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah! I mean," Reki says, pausing with a sheepish smile as he tucks his hands underneath him. "It's still... really far off, y'know? But... they exist, they're forming and they're gonna be on their way before we know it!"
"We're gonna be dads before we know it."
His heart goes all warm and soft at that. He feels like his eyes are a little damp as he favors the crib he designed and built, fingers tracing down one of the slats.
"We're gonna be dads..." His fingers curl around the wood and he gives a wet laugh, leaning his head forward to rest his forehead against the wood grain. "I'm so frikkin' excited."
"... Reki."
Without a word, Reki takes the hand Langa offers to pull himself up with. He's tugged into his husband's strong arms, burrowing into his chest with a choked laugh.
"I can't wait, either," Langa murmurs against the side of his head, nuzzling the spot and pecking it once. "I love you so much, Reki."
"Aw, Langa. Love you, too," Reki smacks a kiss on the other's cheek, shoving his nose into the cool, soft skin.
"Now let's hope it's not twins," Langa says after a soft, quiet moment. "We only have one set of stuff."
"Nah, there's no way that'll happen!!"
"I think they're genetic, though, and there's Chihiro and Nanaka..."
"C'mon, Langa, quit it! We're not having twins, okay? There's no way!"
"Hmm."
"Besides, it's your stuff we used, right? You're not a twin."
"Yeah, but Koyomi..."
"... Oh. Ooohhh. OH!" Reki's letting go of Langa to face the crib and Commence Panicking. "Wait, shit, you're right! Ohmygod, what if we have twins. What if we have twins?! We only have one crib, one changing table, one—"
"Reki."
Langa's hand snags his shirt, stopping him and tugging back against the direction Reki was headed next. He tugs, urging his husband to face him.
"Reki, it'll be fine," Langa laughs softly. "I think the doctors will know far enough in advance. We'll have time to get more furniture before they're here."
"Y-You think?"
"I know."
Reki released a breath, groaning an 'oh my goddd' underneath the sigh as he clutches his chest.
"I was really worried for a sec they'd just be like, 'oh yeah by the way there were two babies'."
"Maybe that was a bad joke, then. You look like you aged 10 years."
"Well duh expecting one kid and ending up with two is kind of a big deal?!"
Langa snorts at this, and shortly after is laughing aloud as he pulls Reki close. Bewildered, he goes along with it, but he has no idea where this outburst is coming from all of a sudden.
"You're right, it is. But we're having more than one anyway, right?"
"I mean, depending how this one goes..."
"Reki." Langa slips both hands up to gently hold both of his cheeks. "I want as many kids as you want. I love your big family and I love that you love it, too. If that's what you want, I'll do whatever it takes to give it to you. Your happiness is my happiness."
Reki's face feels blazing underneath Langa's cool palms. The feeling of the engagement and wedding rings is especially stark and he ducks away from the other's hold as an excuse to hide his blush and his tears.
"Sap."
"Whatever it takes to keep the sun bright."
Reki huffs a fond sound at that, shaking his head weakly as he relaxes into Langa's hold.
"You're ridiculous."
"Mm. Debatable."
Reki yelps as the next instant Langa's literally sweeping him off his feet. The other easily supports his weight with little issue as he scrambles to cling around his neck.
"Langa!"
"Now," Langa says without missing a beat, adjusting his grip along Reki's back and under his knees. "Someone's sore from working hard all weekend straight, so he needs to let his husband take care of and pamper him tonight, hm?"
"But—!"
"Hmmm?"
Bathing... does sound amazing. Along with a nice message... Some cheesy movie with bad snacks in bed... There's more, he thinks with a flush, but it feels inappropriate to think of it in the nursery of all places.
"... All right, all right. Can I clean up real quick first? I don't trust you to put anything away right."
"... Valid," Langa decides, setting Reki down and kissing his head. "I'll start the bath?"
"Mh, please."
"Have a preferred bubble scent?"
"... Evergreen Mountain?"
"Sure thing, sunshine."
