Chapter Text
Rifuta Imu had a plan. A terrible, terrible plan.
She went over it in her head for the fourteenth time. Every individual step made perfect sense. Before confessing to Teruhashi, she wanted to let her know that she was a lesbian, to lessen the shock.
But Imu couldn’t just tell her that, that would be way too obvious! Teruhashi would figure out about her crush right away. Instead, she decided to fake-confess her love to some other girl Teruhashi knew. She would immediately find out about it, and indirectly find out she was a lesbian, and that’d save her from the impossible task of ever actually saying it to her face!
She couldn’t confess to Chiyo or Mera, because she saw them every day, and that would make things WAY too awkward (and besides, she didn’t wanna pretend to like uggos like them). Imu needed a girl Teruhashi talked to, but wasn’t in their school, and then the first step of her Plan To Date Teruhashi Kokomi would be complete!
...She did have some reservations. After all, this would also immediately deem her as unavailable, and Rifuta Imu was nothing if not very available. Plus, it would be so much simpler to just tell her, but…
Nope. Can’t do that.
So now Imu was coming over to Saiki’s house, her romantic rival , to confess to a sister she never even met. No matter how many times she went over the plan the end result felt completely insane. She didn’t even know if this sister was gay! But, Imu wasn’t one to shy away from an opportunity to shine her cuteness. She wore her prettiest outfit, a yellow sundress, with her signature coloured hair clips. Saiki’s sister would be smitten!
Imu steadied herself to make a false confession.
This was such a dumb idea.
She took step after anxious step, trying not to let her heart burst out of her chest, and she was ringing the doorbell to Saiki’s house before she knew it.
The door flung open before the doorbell could even finish ringing, and Kuriko was standing there, expressionless. “What is it?” She said, with a voice almost as deep and just as monotone as Saiki’s.
“U-um, Kuriko, right?” Imu’s voice was shaking. As perfect as her plan obviously was, she didn’t realize that even a fake confession would be super nerve-wracking. “I-I, I’ve been watching you for a while, and, um… I…” Her heart started beating faster and faster, her face flushing red. “Can I come in, please!!” She practically shouted. Confessing right in her face two seconds after we met is too much…
Kuriko sighed. “Good grief. Come in.” She said simply, turning around and heading inside without waiting for Imu. Imu, still shaking, did her best to enter the house politely. She followed Kuriko to the living room, where Kuriko sat down without a word.
Now that I’m looking at her, she really is just like her bro, huh… the identical pink hair and the simple shirt and a skirt she was wearing screamed nothing but plain. Then again, Teruhashi likes it on Saiki, so it had to have some appeal… right…?
Imu flushed red when she realized she was just standing there, staring at Kuriko, and she scrambled to sit down in front of her. Ugh, I hope I didn’t weird her out…!
“It’s fine,” Kuriko said, as if she was responding to her thoughts. “Didn’t you come here to tell me something?”
“U-um, yes!” Imu didn’t have the brain power to ponder how Kuriko could’ve known that. She was focused on reading out the mental script she prepared for this confession. “I, um, my name is Rifuta Imu, I’ve been watching you for a while, and I think you’re really pretty, and um, I hope this isn’t weird, but…” She gulped. Completely planned, of course. “...I like you.” She said in a quiet voice.
A-alright! No way anyone would reject the cutest girl in the world, not even a girl! And with an innocent confession like that, she’ll be saying ‘oh…’ in no time!!!
Imu hadn’t realized she closed her eyes during the confession. When she didn’t hear an immediate answer, she slowly opened them to see… Absolutely no reaction. The exact same trademark expressionless face she and her brother were seemingly born with. She wasn’t flushed, she didn’t move, Imu wasn’t even sure she blinked.
“Okay. Let’s go out.”
Imu wasn’t sure she heard correctly. “U-um, huh?”
“I like you too. Let’s go out.” Kuriko said matter-of-factly.
I-it WORKED?! I-I mean, of course it worked!! Haha.. Ha… Imu was so caught off guard she could barely respond. “Y.. Yay! I’m.. so happy…” She said, chuckling weakly.
Imu quickly realized how fake she sounded and shook her head to clear her thoughts. Get a hold of yourself, Imu! You have a plan, and a script! “I-I mean, that’s wonderful! Let’s go on a date right away!! How about tomorrow, we meet up after school and have lunch together?” She put on the sweetest smile she could conjure.
Kuriko’s face was blank, but she held her thumb up. I got another like!
“Great! Then, I’ll meet you here?”

When Rifuta Imu finally left his house, all bubbly and excited that her plan was in progress, Saiki immediately transformed back to his regular form. Good grief. I can’t believe I’m actually going through with this.
Of course, I already knew about the plan ahead of time. I might’ve missed it, if she hadn’t obsessively thought about it over and over during school and on her way to my house.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all in favor of her ridiculous plan. If it works, it’ll get Teruhashi off my case for good. I’m not going to use any of my powers (other than transformation, obviously), but I’m absolutely going to play along.
I don’t say this often, but good luck with your love life, Rifuta.
Up from his parents’ bedrooms, Saiki’s dad shouted. “Kusuo! Can we come out now?!”
