ᴛʜᴇ ᴄʀᴏᴏᴋᴇᴅ ᴛʜʀᴏɴᴇ

Summary:

TommyInnit lived a normal life, dull but normal, as a baker for his mother's bakery. Niki cared for him ever since she found him in the cold streets, stealing things from her bakery just for food. Ever since then, she took on a maternal role for Tommy. But, just because he's a baker, doesn't mean he isn't someone people like.

Except for The Royal Family.

TL;DR: Tommy was a thief, now he is a baker with Niki, his mother figure, and he catches the attention of royalty.

Chapter 1: ℙ𝕣𝕠𝕝𝕠𝕘𝕦𝕖

Chapter Text

Tommy was baking some cupcakes while Niki was out when he heard the door open, there stood...

His mom.

She was back a bit early, but who was he to complain?

“Hello, Mom!” The blonde kid says, taking out the cupcakes excitedly, Niki smiled, “Hello, Tommy!” She walked to the small fridge they had and put the groceries away, before walking over to her son. “Do you need help with that?” She asked the 12 year old, he looked up at her holding the icing and shook his head. She nodded and watched him cover them in vanilla icing. Then, he made horribly drawn patterns on them with strawberry. She chuckled when he handed the piping bag to her for her to finish the last cupcake. She made a cat pattern, then set it down.

Niki grabbed the tray and set each cupcake into a plastic holder, so she can set it in display. Tommy gasped and she turned around, she saw Prince Ranboo and Prince Tubbo along with King Philza. She immediately bowed, Tommy having been taught what he should do in the presence of royalty also bowed.

“No need to bow! We're just here for some cupcakes since our chefs are taking breaks.” Phil says, smiling. The two stood straight up and Niki nodded, “What would you like?” She asks, “Those cupcakes look nice!” Tubbo says, pointing at Tommy's batch, “If that's what you want, Tubbo. May we get those cupcakes?” “Of course.” The baker nodded and took them out of display, she handed the tray to Phil, “Thank you.” The older blonde pulls out $400 and hands it to Niki, “I don't know if I can take the mone-” She was cut off when she heard the bell ring and looked down to see the money.

She smiled, picking it up, grabbing Tommy's hand and deciding to go tell her wife. “Puffy, guess what!?” The sheep hybrid set down her pot of Marigolds next to the pot of Anemones. “Yes?” She turns over and Tommy runs over, “Ma!” He says, clinging to her, she smiles and ruffles her son's hair, “The king and the princes came to the bakery!” Niki says, walking over, “That's great!” Puffy says, smiling wider, “The King gave me $400 as well!” Niki hands her $200, splitting it. “We can get an actual house now!” The older woman says, “Exactly what I was thinking!” The other says, excitedly.

Tommy didn't exactly understand the concept of money, but from how his moms were reacting, it must be a lot. So, he cheered.

Philza walked into his kingdom with Tubbo and Ranboo following behind, “Wil! Tech!” He called to his other sons, “Sapnap, can you get Wil and Dream, can you get Techno?” The knights nodded, “Of course, your majesty.” They walked up the stairs and parted ways to get the teens.

Dream opened the door and saw the pink haired teen playing the piano, focusing on the paper, “Your Royal Highness, your father wishes to speak to you.” Dream says, professionally, despite him and Techno were childhood friends, “Dream, you know you can call me Techno, right? We established this.” The older laughed and nodded, “Yeah, it's just funnier.” He responds, Tech got off the seat and pushed it in, setting the lid of the piano down. He walked out with the knight following and they talked for a bit.

Sapnap walked to Wilbur's room, knowing the teen, he was either playing his guitar or asleep. He knocked and when there was no response, he opened the door. He saw some movement coming from under the sheets, yep, he was asleep. Sap walked over and gently shook him, “Wake up, your dad wants to see you.” He says, Wil groaned and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes, he sat up and got out of bed. Sap smiled and handed his glasses to him, “Thanks, Sapnap.” Wil mutters, grabbing them and putting them on. He walks out of his room with the raven haired knight following behind.

George walked into the dining room, he had been sleeping and almost slept in, but thank god for his alarm clock. He set a cupcake on each napkin for the family, before making his way to talk with Dream and Sapnap, “Y'know you three, you can sit with us.” Phil offers, a soft smile prominent on his face, “Thank you, Your Majesty.” Dream responds and the trio sit down where they wish, “You don't have to call me that, just call me Philza or Phil.” The blonde sighs, he wished to be treated like a normal human.

He decided to take a bit of a walk in the small village to take his mind off it. He walked out and he knew he was followed immediately, he turned around and a knight, Fundy, was walking behind him. “Fundy, I wish to be alone.” Phil says, walking away, Fundy stayed put.

The king walked to his favorite flower field, a spot where him and his wife had their wedding, he missed the goddess of death, but she was just too busy. Reaping souls is a very busy job. He picked a marigold and smiled, he looks up and saw that kid from the bakery. He was grabbing a bunch of flowers, and trying to make a flower crown, but seeming to be failing.

Phil stands up and walks over, he noticed the kid wasn't tying them correctly, “You're doing it wrong.” He hadn't meant to come off rude, but the kid didn't seem to notice. “Then what am I supposed to do?” The older sat down in front of the baker's son, he took the flowers and slowly tied them correctly to show the blonde how to do it. “What is this magic?” The kid says, irritated as he grabs more flowers and did the same as he saw Phil do.

Tommy immediately noticed it was the king in front of him, he went to bow, but Phil sighed which made him not.

“Are you okay, your maj-”

“Phil.”

“Oh. Are you okay, Phil?”

Philza smiled, “No..” He replied, “What's wrong?” Tommy sat back down. “It's hard being a king.” Phil mutters, looking to the side, “No it isn't, you get so much respect.” “But, you get too much. You never get treated like a human.” “Well...” Tommy attempted to think of something to come back with, but he didn't know. He noticed some tears in the corners of Phil's eyes.

“When someone is crying, Tommy, what do you do?” Niki asks the 10 year old,

“You tell them to stop crying.” Tommy answers,

“No, you hug them or pat their back and you tell them that it'll be okay.” She says.

Tommy remembered those words and scooted closer to the king before hugging him and patting his back. He felt arms wrap around him as he heard the older cry, “It'll be okay.” He says.

Phil knew it was pathetic and very bad to show vulnerability around anyone, but he only ever got a hug if he initiated it, but it felt nice for someone else to do it. It felt comforting and along with the fact that a child told him that it'll be okay. A child, that had barely any experience with being a king, was comforting him. It was what made him feel better. He wiped his eyes, “You should get back to your mom, she's probably worried.” Phil says, letting go of the hug, he stood up as the kid stood up. “You can tell her you hugged a king.” He says, making a joke. What the blonde said next made his heart swell,

“No, I'll tell her I hugged Phil!”

He almost cried again as the kid put the flower crown on and walked off. He walked back to his palace with a good feeling.

He'd go to the bakery again sometime.
