Standing With You
Part 1
Chris had been admitted to hospital, after being possessed for a short period. He’d been in the hospital for less than 48 hours before he went missing. Peter had been sound asleep in the waiting room, as he wasn’t allowed in the room.
“Alright, let’s get an APB out on a forty-five year old man with brown hair,” Sheriff Noah Stilinski said as he ran a hand over his face, he hadn’t expected to be getting an APB out on one of his own friends. “Any other descriptors?”
Peter had raced into Chris’ room and seen that the older man was missing and just about had a heart attack. Melissa had followed him into the room and quickly called Noah which was how they had ended up in the current situation. Peter was wringing his hand frantically until Noah had spoken.
“He’s 5ft 10, blue grey eyes, caucasian and his hair and beard are light brown with grey scattered through,” Peter stated, he’d taken in every little detail of his husband over the years. “He also has a tattoo script on his forearm,”
“Okay, you heard him spread that description out now,” Noah said, before Melissa was wrapping her arms around Peter and hugging him to try and get him to calm down. “Melissa why don’t you take Peter to get some coffee and I’ll join you in a minute,”
“Come on, let’s get you some coffee,” Melissa smiled at him, Peter shook his head. He didn’t know what to do, he was terrified that something more would happen to Chris. “Peter, they will find him,”
Peter looked at Melissa, and then towards Noah who nodded to him, they were going to find Chris. Peter realised that he hadn’t told Allison what was going on, Melissa shook her head she knew what he was thinking. Melissa took Peter’s hand and led him towards the cafeteria and sat him down. Peter looked up at Melissa before he was bursting into tears, something that he had not planned on doing, but his husband was missing again.
“Peter, honey breathe,” Melissa sat in the chair beside him before she was pulling him into her arms again. “Peter, you know that Noah will find him,”
“You don’t know that,” Peter mumbled, resting his head on his older sister’s shoulder and shutting his eyes tightly. “You don’t know that,” he repeated, Melissa sighed and kept her arms around him before she was kissing his forehead.
“Look at me, Noah will find him. He found him once before and he will again,” Melissa reassured him, she didn’t know how much comfort it would be since Chris had gone missing on their honeymoon the first time.
Meanwhile, Chris had been bound and gagged in the basement of one of his fathers buildings. His father knew that he could get out of ropes easily so he had chosen something harder. Chris was already weak from being possessed for three days, he had no recollection of what had happened in those three days. He just knew that his chosen family hadn’t left his side and would be looking for him. Chris knew that he had to be strong, to just hold on he’d been tortured as a child as a teenager when he was learning to hunt but nothing had prepared him for this. Chris shut his eyes tightly as his father raised his gun and aimed it slightly off to the side of Chris’ right ear. Gerard Argent was not a kind man; he had never treated his son with respect. Chris had only ever tried to please his father but always ended up getting belted. No one knew the amount of times he’d narrowly avoided being shot, or that he’d all but lost the hearing in his right ear from a gun being fired beside his head more than once.
Chris didn’t know how long he had been out of the hospital, but he knew that the hospital had been where he was safe. In the past five years he’d spent more time in hospital than he had out of it. Five years earlier, Chris and Peter had gotten married, Gerard had subsequently taken Chris while on their honeymoon. Peter had been just as distraught then as he was now. The last time Chris had ended up with a badly broken leg and needed surgery multiple times. Chris held back screaming, as his father fired his gun before then took off his belt. Gerard yelled at Chris that he was useless, that he wasn’t the man he was meant to be. Chris couldn’t help it this time and let out an ear piercing scream as the belt connected with his torso before he was being shot in his left leg.
The last Peter knew was that Chris had been asleep in his hospital, hooked up to machines for being dehydrated after possession. No one had told Allison about her father being missing or that he’d been possessed as she’d been safely away at college with her best-friend and step-sister. Peter didn’t want the girls to worry, and his sister knew that but she also knew that her son would want to tell Allison. Peter had been fast asleep in the chairs, and Melissa had been at home. No one knew how Chris had been taken from the hospital without suspicion being raised, Noah had covertly asked his son to help them. Stiles had contacted the one person that he knew could hack into a computer, a friend from school, Danny Mahealani.
Danny and Stiles sat in Stiles’ room as he was home visiting for the weekend. Stiles told Danny exactly what his father had told him, and that they had permission to hack into the computers at the hospital. Danny discovered that there were hours of footage that had been erased and replaced with footage from a different day. Stiles told his father what Danny had found as Danny worked to recover the original footage. The second that Stiles saw the original footage, he quickly told Danny thank you and then proceeded to tell his father that he’d meet him at the hospital. Danny downloaded the footage onto Stiles’ laptop for him so that he could show his father. Danny knew that he couldn’t tell anyone about what they’d done and that it was important to Stiles that he not breach that trust.
Twenty minutes later and Stiles was running haphazardly into the hospital’s cafeteria. Noah stood up from the conversation he’d been having with Melissa and Peter. Stiles grabbed his father and took him over to a separate table and showed him the footage. Melissa and Peter listened from where Peter was still in his sister's arms, Melissa had no intention of letting Peter go not until they knew that Chris was safe.
“Dad, it was Gerard but he wasn’t alone,” Stiles said, as he showed his father the footage that Danny had recovered for them. “Danny won’t say anything and I won’t say anything either,”
“Son, I need your help in finding him. Cora’s busy keeping Scott preoccupied and Derek’s on his way here,” Noah told him before they were both glancing behind them to Melissa and Peter. “Melissa, did you hear that?”
Melissa nodded, and looked at Peter whose eyes were flashing blue before she growled at him and her eyes flashed golden. Stiles blinked, he’d completely forgotten that Melissa was a wolf as well. Melissa looked at Stiles and then back to Peter as his eyes faded back to their natural blue and her own went back to brown. Stiles looked at his father and then back at Melissa and Peter, he’d also forgotten that she was a Hale and that technically his best-friend could have been born a wolf but was born human.
“Stiles, honey close your mouth,” Melissa smiled at him before she and Peter joined them at the table. Stiles had already shut the laptop; he didn’t want Peter seeing Chris being wheeled out of the room straight past him while he was sleeping. “Noah, what can we do?”
“Take Peter home,” Noah told her, Melissa shook her head. There was no way that Peter was letting them find his husband and not being there.
“I can’t do that, he won’t let me,” Melissa said as she looked at Peter, Peter’s face was still slightly tear stained and he looked like he would cry again. “Peter, breathe,”
“Stop telling me to breathe,” Peter growled, but found himself doing as his older sister said anyway. Peter took a deep breath and exhaled before he was looking at his sister and then at Noah and Stiles. “Find him,”
“Peter, we are going to find him,” Noah said, Peter nodded, finally hearing the reassurance in Noah’s voice along with his sisters. “Stiles when Derek gets here take him with you,”
The second that Derek arrived, Stiles was dragging the older man out of the hospital and towards his old faithful jeep, Roscoe. Derek rolled his eyes, of course Stiles would want to ride in Roscoe and not his SUV. Stiles may have been an FBI agent in training, but Derek was a werewolf and this was his uncle they were talking about. Derek groaned before he grabbed Stiles by the arm and dragged him over to his SUV. Stiles looked longingly at Roscoe, before admitting defeat and climbing in. They had a rough idea of where Gerard could have taken Chris and they just hoped that they were right. Parrish and another deputy were also scouring the area, and coming up empty. They hadn’t seen any cars or abandoned buildings. Derek pulled up next to Parrish’s patrol car and switched off the engine before the two of them were climbing out.
“Derek, Stiles, we haven’t found him yet. What are you thinking?” Parrish questioned, once the two of them were out of the SUV and Derek was briefly leaning against it.
“He’s around here somewhere, has anyone gone into the buildings yet?” Stiles questioned, before he glanced at Derek who looked to be smelling the air around them. “Derek?”
“No ones gone in yet, which building there’s no sign of any vehicles,” Parrish answered, Derek groaned before he just took off after catching a whiff of blood. “Derek?”
“Don’t call him go!” Stiles urged, he knew that Parrish was the only one that could possibly catch up with Derek at the speed that he was going.
Derek was running towards one of the buildings farthest away from where the deputies and his SUV were parked. He stopped briefly when he lost the scent before he picked up the scent and some pained screams that were almost inaudible. Before they moved Derek told Parrish to get an ambulance he had a feeling that Chris would need one. Derek and Jordan made their way inside the building as the screams got louder and the smell of blood got stronger. Derek allowed his eyes to glow blue and extended his claws as Jordan kept his hand on his weapon. Jordan and Derek quietly walked into the building after Derek pulled the door off its hinges.
As Derek and Jordan made their way through the building, they heard the screams getting louder before silence. Neither of them liked that they couldn’t hear it anymore. They couldn’t hear the sirens either, Jordan figured that the sheriff had told them to approach with their sirens off as they didn’t want to alert Gerard that they were on to him. Derek took a deep breath and they continued through the building before they were ducking as they were fired upon. Jordan spun around and fired, hitting them before tossing his gun and going hellhound which he had a feeling he would regret later. Derek and Jordan managed to fight their way through the hunters knocking the majority of them out. Seconds after they had knocked out the last guy they heard a gunshot coming from the basement and a loud crack from something being hit.
That was the last straw, Derek and Jordan both broke the basement door down as Jordan motioned for Derek to give him his gun back which he more than willing did as he was not fond of guns. Jordan went in first and held back a gasp when he saw Chris passed out and bleeding on the floor. Jordan kept his gun held at Gerard, Gerard refused to drop his gun before Jordan was making the gun burning hot. Gerard dropped the gun and Jordan was quickly arresting the older man as Derek dropped to his knees beside Chris and breathing a sigh of relief when he heard the older man exhale.
Chris was slumped with his arms still strung up, and Derek could tell that they were broken. Derek wasn’t entirely sure what else was wrong with his uncle but he knew that it wasn’t good. Jordan crouched down on the opposite side of Chris and together the two of them yanked the chains free with their supernatural strength and caught Chris before laying him down. Derek sat on the ground and cradled the older man in his arms as they waited the five minutes that it took the ambulance and rest of the sheriff’s department to join them. When Stiles got to them, he handed Jordan a bag so that the older man could have some clothes and some dignity before the others arrived. Stiles took one look at Chris and backed away, he didn’t like what he was seeing, all he could see was a mass of blood and torn clothes.
