Absurd

Work Text:

Peter was in the bathroom, freaking out, because how could he be so stupid and forget the most important thing? He went through the cabinets at least a billion times as if what he was looking for would magically appear.

That's it. He would just have to stay in the bathroom and get Ned to break him out somehow.

He had stained the couch. It was only a little drop, but it stared back at him, mockingly. He covered it with a pillow and ran to the bathroom before anybody walked into the room and caught him.

How could he be so stupid?

He tried to keep his wits about him and bolted out of the bathroom and into his room. The first thing he saw was a box with a note on it sitting on his bed.

He closed the door and went over to look at the note.

"I cleaned up your mess on the couch. I thought you would need these.
-Loki, he/him.
P.S. Don't forget to take your binder off when you need to.
I will use my death stare on you if need be."

Peter smiled at the note. Smiled because Loki, the God of Mischief, had just left him a box of pads after cleaning up his mess. Smiled because Loki cared about him. And this proved it.

Later in the day, he settled on the kitchen counter to do some homework. History. He could never retain anything from that class as hard as he tried.

All of a sudden he felt someone watching him.

He turned around and it was none other than Loki, himself.

"Mr. Loki." He greeted.

Said man walked over to him. "You can just call me Loki."

"Ok, Loki, thanks for the uh. . ." Peter looked around to see if anybody was around. "you know."

"Not a problem, Spider-boy."

He cringed at the name. "That's not my name."

"What? Do you want me to call you Spider-baby?"

"It's Spider-Man." He said. "But I would prefer it if you called me Peter."

He could practically hear Loki's eyes rolling as he sighed. He was now on a first-name basis with the teen after just one conversation. How absurd!

And it was even more absurd that Loki had helped him! But what could he say? He had a soft spot for the boy after all.

He started again. "Peter. It was nothing."

"'Course it was. You, Loki, God of Mischief, helping me?" He smiled. "One might say that you're begging to ruin your reputation."

Loki rolled his eyes with a hint of a smile on his face. "Nonsense."

"That smile says it all." Peter grinned.

Loki sighed, giving in. "Well, what can I say? I suppose us non-cis people have to stick together through thick and thin."

Peter was amused by what he had just heard Loki say. "Genderfluid/Trans solidarity!"

Loki rolled his eyes again, this time a full smile shining through. "Whatever. But if any of this gets out, I know where to find you at all times, Spider-baby." When he saw the teen's face, he said, "Fine. Peter. And I'm not joking. I still need to live up to my reputation."

"Mm mhm. Yeah. The one where you secretly hang out with me behind Tony's back." He snorted. "You're right, that is chaotic."

He shrugged. "Just living up to the name."

"Wanna live up to it some more and help me cheat on this take-home History test?"

"Now that is where I draw the line. What do you take me for, Parker? Have some decency, they're gonna kick you out of that school if you're not careful."

Peter only shrugged. "Beats me. If it means I won't have to deal with this stupid homework, then sign me up."

Loki shook his head, making a 'tsk tsk' sound with his tongue. "I might have to tell your father about this."

Peter furrowed his eyebrows. "Wh- Tony? He's not my dad."

"One might say he is. And by one I mean everyone."

"Why does everybody keep saying that? Just because he picks me up from school sometimes and hangs out with me doesn't mean he's my dad."

"Just last week you were playing catch with him. That is the most father/son thing to exist."

"He's not my dad." He repeated.

"I don't think you buy that."

"Ok, yeah, I've slipped up a few times by calling him 'dad. ' And yeah, I do kinda wish he would just adopt me, but I don't think he feels that way about me. I'm just Spider-Man, his intern. A kid he feels he has to take care of."

Loki sighed at the stubborn boy. "You know that's not true. He cares about you. Why else would he be picking you up from school and hanging out with you so much?"

He stayed silent for a bit, thinking about Loki's words.

"Well, I will leave you with your homework. Enough break time for you."

Peter groaned, burying his face in his arms. "Why must you remind me of this torture? Spider-Man doesn't need school."

"But, Peter does." Loki backed away from the table, striding to the door. "Now hush and finish your test."

"You're the one that distracted me!" Peter called out as he walked away from him.

No answer. Peter groaned, disappointed that he still had to finish his test. He decided to put it away and do some patrolling. He'll finish it later.

Notes:

I really loved writing this fic. I've read quite a few Loki and Peter fics and they're just too good! I actually got the inspiration for this story out of a Pepper and Peter fic I read about him getting his period and turning to her for help. "I'm not injured" by SilverDraconyx
