Screaming is one thing, but I know if I open my mouth again the sobs will come. I don't know how close the rest of the athletes and families are standing now, trying to get a look at the excitement, but the last thing I need is to turn on the waterworks in front of a bunch of Socs. I drift for a second before Darry's hand squeezing my shoulder brings me back. He runs his hand through my hair, pushing it out of my face before he rests his hand on my cheek to try and keep my focus.

“Guys, look at this!” Jasper crashes onto the cafeteria bench across from Charlotte and Henry and shoves up his sleeve. His eyes are bright and sparkling like he has a secret he’s been dying to tell someone.
Henry looks at the bruise on Jasper’s arm with a raised eyebrow. It’s large and blotchy and looks like it hurt a lot. “So, what?”
“So,” Jasper grins. “I got this bruise right after Kid Danger fought the Toddler. He got hit in the same spot.”
