[ART] An Issue of Touch

Summary:

Harry Potter has been enlisted by Professor Longbottom to gather some rare species of water plants for his client's potions project. Seems easy enough but there's a catch, because, isn't there always? Said plant is poisonous and potentially lethal to human touch whilst underwater. What's a herbology assistant to do? Seek the help of a pretty (annoying) merman, of course.

Notes:

For Prompt #237:
Harry starts working as Neville's assistant (he's a very famous and successful herbologist). He needs to collect new types of algae, but requires the merpeople's help to get them. Enter merman Draco.

This piece has gone through a lot from it's conception to its actual execution, and though it may not be the original piece I envisioned it to be, I think it's still a pretty darn good interpretation of what I wanted it to be. A lot of time and tears and happy-stressed-dancing have gone into making these so I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I enjoyed the process of making (and re-making) it. Who knows, I might just revisit this world.

Thank you to the prompter for this inspired idea, and thank you, endlessly, to our awesome mods (you the best) for being so understanding.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Panel 1

"No, keep your dainty human hands to yourself. You know you can't touch this. And keep that bubble thing up. Even if you drown I'm not giving you mouth-to-mouth."

Panel 2

Harry: What were you saying earlier again, about my 'dainty hands'?

Draco: Oh, shut up. I'm not even that heavy.

Harry: Mhmm. 'Course not. Now about that bit about mouth-to-mouth...

Draco: ...you're insufferable. How do your colleagues put up with you?

Harry: *whispers* I think I liked you better when we were underwater.

Draco: What did you say?

Harry: Nothing, nothing.

Draco: Thought so.
