It was late.
Toriel had waited by the two teens after she had learned of the slashed tires, reading long into the night. She couldn’t let anything happen to them, especially after seeing a figure crawling outside their home in the dark. Even though she had called for the officers to come, for some reason the police were taking their time. After an hour, Toriel gave up waiting and turned off the lights. After the agonizing delay, Toriel slumped over her book asleep.
She wasn’t the only one who had been waiting.
Kris had waited long enough.
They slowly lifted their head from the couch. They were tired but nothing would stop them in this moment.
They reached into their chest. The pain from tugging at the SOUL was agonizing, but they kept their mouth shut.
They couldn’t wake anyone else. They couldn’t let the others know.
The SOUL was ripped out.
Kris held it up in the air. For a single second everything was frozen. Kris was ready to shove it away hidden in the couch when suddenly…
The SOUL burst with energy.
Kris struggled to hold the heart-shaped object as it spasmed irregularly. Kris could only stare at its movements in bitterness. It reminded them of when they saw Susie smash their keyboard in frustration when they were working in the library computer lab once.
Not so fun is it, when you are not in control.
Then something happened that surprised everyone.
