Work Text:
Sunoo stands outside an ice cream parlor, his hands inside his coat pockets. His heart was racing like a speeding train. Couples with cheerful smiles arrive and go. He instinctively bites the inside of his cheek while checking his watch. His worries dissolve once he sees a familiar vehicle approaching, and a broad smile spreads across his face.
White, wispy clouds and blue decorate the sky. You are each eating a Pistachio ice cream cone with sprinkles. (Decided to try your fav.) He untangles the tangled headphones, plugs them to your phone, and asks you to choose a playlist. Sunoo often sings along with you. There was a lot of smiling going on, from taking selfies to sharing random stories. You both burst out laughing as you recalled your first interactions and awkward conversations. He would slip in compliments and stroke your knuckles or hand.
You were napping on Sunoo’s shoulder. People were leaving the park as the sun began to set. He looks over at you while the music is still playing. His eyes land on your phone, which is resting on your lap. Even after months, seeing his photo card in your phone case gives him butterflies. He still remembers how ecstatic he was when you unboxed his album. “Wake up, honey.” His voice is as soothing as pouring delicious honey.
Walking you to your apartment, you ask him to stay and he joyfully complies. “Wash up, honey, so you can get some sleep.”
Snuggled together on your bed, he gently pulls you closer to him. “Sleep well, honey.” Sunoo whispers, and you respond, but your words slur from sleepiness. A small, lively giggle slips through him, and you go off to sleep.
And that’s why ice cream dates with sunoo are your favorite.
