Leaders Are Born Not Made

Summary:

Namjoon has had enough and decides a vote is needed; should Jin resign as leader?
Unfortunately, the voting doesn’t go as he had hoped…

Things don’t go well for Jungkook either when Taehyung seems to be itching for a fight with him. If he only understood why.
Taehyung isn’t sure either why he’s so angry with his Maknae; he just is. His emotions are too strong and too confusing for him, and he doesn’t know what to do.

Namjoon knows, but will Jin agree?

Chapter Text

“Hoseok-ah?” Namjoon said when he found his friend alone in the living room. It was late, too late, but none of them seemed to be able to sleep. Tomorrow was going to be tough; they were supposed to wake up in about five hours.

“Oh, I thought you were asleep.” Hobi hadn’t been prepared for anyone to come, and had flinched a bit when he’d heard Namjoon’s sudden voice. His steps had been so very silent.

“Yeah”, the former leader said. He was thinking about that title – leader. Namjoon really wanted and needed to have this talk. He’d wanted it since they left Jakarta, but he hadn’t had the chance until now. “Can I talk to you?”

“Oh, sure.”

Hobi moved aside as if there hadn’t been enough space on the sofa already. Namjoon still appreciated it and took a seat next to his friend.

Everything was so dark and quiet.

“Well, I’ll go directly to the point”, Namjoon said. “What would you say if I told you that we should make you the leader?”

“Come again?” Hobi’s jaw fell and his eyes grew in surprise. He must be more tired than he thought because he was sure he was hearing things wrong.

“Seokjin is a mess”, Namjoon pointed out. “He has no idea what he’s doing, you saw him back in Indonesia!”

“And you want me to be your leader?” Hobi put his hand on his chest and really emphasized the word ‘me’ to make sure he’d understood it correctly. He found the request absurd.

“Yeah, you’re great at leading us on the dance floor”, Namjoon reminded him. “And you were doing a pretty good job when we were to leave to the airport.”

Hobi couldn’t deny it but he didn’t want to agree with it either. There was a difference between leading them for a short period of time and leading them every time! He knew how to dance, and he wasn’t bad at teaching the others, but it was hardly comparable.

“Why can’t you be our leader again? You know how to lead”, he said with his heart filled with hope, but it died the same moment he saw his friend’s face. “Why don’t you want to?”

“You know I can’t!” Namjoon sounded a bit frustrated when he spoke, because Yoongi had said the exact same thing – he too had told him to go back to be their leader. Namjoon couldn’t understand why they wanted him. He’d messed up so much. Caused too much harm, just like Jin had said. Jimin was still angry with him, although the boy was showing it less and was listening more, but Namjoon could still feel the tension between them. They weren’t ready for him to go back to that position yet, and Namjoon wasn’t ready either.

“What does Jin-Hyung think about this?” Hobi asked. If his Hyung thought it was a good idea for him to become the new temporary leader, then maybe he could try for a little while, just to see how it goes.

“He doesn’t know I’m asking you about this”, Namjoon admitted and Hobi’s jaw almost fell again. He couldn’t believe Namjoon was going behind their Hyungs back like this.

“You have to talk to him first!”

Namjoon didn’t seem to like that idea very much. He didn’t feel like talking to Jin at all at the moment. His energy was low and he didn’t want to fight, and Yoongi was right, somehow he and Jin always ended up fighting.

“Namjoon-ah?”

“Yeah?”

“You have to talk to him!” Hobi said firmly and Namjoon swayed.

“I don’t know”, he murmured so very quietly, now staring blindly at his lap. His eyesight was getting blurry.

“Of course you know!” Hobi sounded annoyed this time. “If you don’t want him to be our leader, you… you can’t just come to me like this and ask if I can take his place. That’s not fair to either him or me!”

Namjoon sighed and stood up from the sofa. “It’s late”, he muttered.

“Wait, don’t run away!”

Namjoon didn’t move when he heard what his friend said. Run away? He thought. He’d been doing that quite often lately. It was a cowardly move, he couldn’t deny that, but he didn’t know what else to do.

“Please, sit down”, Hobi said and Namjoon did.

They were quiet for a while. It was almost a bit scary how empty the dorm appeared when everybody was asleep.

“Listen”, Hobi eventually spoke, but he sounded hesitant. “I… there is something I’ve been… there is…”, it was harder than he thought it would be to bring up what he’d wanted to say since earlier today. “I’ve been worried about you lately.”

“About me?” Namjoon couldn’t understand why. He’d been doing okay, hadn’t he? He thought he had.

“Yes”, his friend confirmed with a tiny nod.

“Why?”

Hobi found that to be a hard question, but he knew he had to answer it. Not only did he need to, but he also wanted to. It would hopefully put his heart at peace to be able to know exactly what Namjoon was going through.

“I… I kind of overheard you…”, he said with a deep breath, while pressing his hands together. His palms were sweaty of nervosity.

“What? When?” Namjoon’s heart was picking up speed, and he too got nervous. He’d never appreciated people who eavesdropped, but even less lately when he’d been extra vulnerable. It made him feel even more exposed and unsafe, and he needed the comfort of safety right now.

His heart almost stopped when he heard Hobi’s answer:

“You were crying.”

“WHAT?!”

“Sssh, the others are sleeping”, Hobi hushed him with his index finger close to his lips. Namjoon relaxed a bit but didn’t look less worried. That expression of concern and sadness in his face made Hobi sad too.

“Namjoon-ah”, he whispered carefully. “Are you okay?”

“I would be, if someone more responsible could become our leader”, Namjoon was quick to answer and the other rapper sighed.

“I mean, uh… I… you see… um… my mother…”

Hobi didn’t continued that rickety sentence, and although Namjoon was very patient when it came to his friend, he didn’t want to wait forever. When a minute of total silence had passed, he asked:

“What about her? Is she okay?”

“Yeah, yeah, she’s okay”, Hobi nodded, but Namjoon could hear it wasn’t really okay.

“But?” he asked and Hobi took another deep breath, while letting himself fall backwards. His back was now resting against the soft back of the sofa, and he brought his knees to his chest.

“She… she was very depressed…” he murmured while staring at the TV screen in front of him. It was black. “… very often…”

Namjoon was watching his friend, now feeling worse than before. “I’m sorry to hear”, he said. He had no idea about this.

“Sometimes…”, Hobi continued speaking. “… her pain was too much to bear… and sometimes she… she wanted to die.”

“I’m… I didn’t know, I’m sorry”, Namjoon didn’t know what else to say. He suddenly felt frustrated, not at Hobi, but at depression. It was such a ruthless sickness that could hit anyone, anytime. It didn’t discriminate. No matter where you are, who you are, if you’re rich or poor, successful or a failure, old or young, female or male. It will find you.

His body stiffened. He believed it had found him. Hobi thought the same.

“Be honest with me now”, he said and turned his eyes to Namjoon who nodded.

“Okay”, he promised.

“Do you ever feel like you would want to… not live?” Hobi asked. He was trying his absolute best to choose the right words, but it wasn’t easy. “Would you?”

“What? No, of course not!” Namjoon sounded almost shocked.

“So you never said something like…  about… um…”, yet again Hobi tried to find the right words. “… would you wish that… that someone could come and kill you?”

“Oh”, Namjoon’s gaze fell, and his cheeks started burning in embarrassment. “You overheard that?”

“Yeah”, Hobi said although he hadn’t heard it in person, but his friend didn’t need to know that. Besides, he’d promised Taehyung to keep this a secret, so keep him out of this was the least the rapper could do.

“I was feeling very bad, yeah, and I was very sad and felt very hopeless, that’s true”, Namjoon admitted, although it hurt. He raised his gaze again and met Hoseok’s dark eyes. “But I didn’t mean what I said”, he tried to assure. “I don’t wish for anyone to kill me. I don’t wish to die.”

“You really mean that?”

“Of course”, Namjoon assured with even more confidence in his voice. “Trust me, I would never want to end my life in any way… I’m not in a happy place right now but I know there will come a day where…”, he genuinely believed that. “… I know there will be a time when everything will change for the better. When we all will be happier.”

“You really believe that?”

“Yeah, I do”, Namjoon dared him with a soft smile, but Hobi didn’t look convinced. It pained the other rapper to see his friend this dejected. He really didn’t want Hoseok to think he was suicidal because he wasn’t. He had to reassure him of that!

But how? Namjoon wasn’t sure. The only thing he had were his words, it wasn’t much of a proof that he was okay but he had to try.

“I love it too much you know”, Namjoon said, and felt how it started to vibrate in the corners of his mouth. His heart was so very heavy and the tears were pressing in his eyes. “I love to perform, to make music, be with my team members, my friends! Meet Army! I don’t want to die. I’m not ready for that yet, I have too much left I want to do before that.”

Hobi was moved to tears and didn’t stop them from falling.

“I’m so relieved”, he said with a cracked voice and fell into Namjoon’s chest. It was with a hard squeak that he wrapped his arms around his friend.

Namjoon hadn’t expected this sudden hug but welcomed it. His heart was growing and it felt like it didn’t have enough space in his chest. Tears were now falling down his own cheeks.

“I-I was worried”, he heard Hobi murmur and Namjoon hugged him closer. He felt the warm body, it was shaking. His own body was shaking too.

“I’m sorry I worried you”, he said so very quietly. It was suddenly awfully difficult to use his voice. “I will try not to do that again.”

They stayed in each other’s embrace for a very long time, and their exhausted bodies slowly sagged further into the sofa. They felt so very heavy both of them. It was too late… too dark… and they were too tired…

The morning sun was shining through the windows and it looked like it was going to be a wonderful day. Early birds. They were singing their happy songs while the world around them was waking up.

Taehyung was slowly sipping on a big glass of orange juice while watching Namjoon and Hoseok who were fast asleep on the sofa. All curled up and tangled in one another. He wondered what happened. A feeling of worry was itching in him. Yesterday, he’d told Hobi a lot of secrets; and one was about Namjoon.

Were his secrets out now?

Taehyung didn’t feel like finishing his glass of juice anymore. It felt like a big lump was stuck in his throat and like thorns were wrapped around his heart.

His eyes wandered from one rapper to the other. They looked so very different when watching them sleep like this. There was something so very pure and peaceful about the view.

Namjoon’s golden brown hair was so very messy, and Hobi’s awkward position made him snore a bit.

“Tae?”

Taehyung turned his attention to the entrance to the living room. It was Jungkook. The older didn’t say anything, he didn’t even move.

“Taehyungie, you shouldn’t disturb them”, Jungkook whispered and tiptoed a bit closer to the three of them. “You don’t want to wake them up, do you?”

Irritation exploded inside of Taehyung and without thinking too much of his action, he splashed all the juice directly at his Hyungs.

It was almost like slow-motion for Jungkook whose eyes grew large. He couldn’t believe Taehyung just did that and judging by Hobi’s and Namjoon’s strong flinches and shocked faces, they didn’t believe it either. They both were dripping with sticky juice, and they both seemed to try to wrap their heads around what just happened.

“Don’t tell me what to do”, Taehyung told Jungkook and put the glass down on the coffee table with a loud crack, before walking off. Namjoon wasn’t letting him get far though.

“KIM TAEHYUNG! COME BACK HERE!” he shouted sharply and flew up from the sofa. Taehyung stopped and turned around to face his Hyungs. Namjoon gave him a warning look and it was with dragging feet the younger went up to them. They were all standing now – Hobi too.

Neither of them looked amused.

“Why did you throw juice at us?” Namjoon asked and put his hands on his hips. He could feel how a sticky drop was slowly trailing down his forehead.

He tried to calm down, he tried to breathe. He tried to remember to not lose his temper, but it was difficult when his dongsaeng was just glaring at him in complete silence.

“Yah! Answer me!” Namjoon barked at him.

Taehyung shrugged before saying: “Because I can.”

“Okay, off with your trousers and bend over the couch”, was Namjoon’s answer to that. He’d had enough of this constant disobedience and disrespect, and he was not going to play nice any longer. This bad behaviour of Taehyung had been going on for too long already, and he wasn’t going to let it continue.

Taehyung lowered his gaze but didn’t show any signs of obeying. It was unfortunate, Namjoon had preferred not to use any force but it seemed like he didn’t have a choice.

“Come here”, he said and reached out to grab his dongsaeng. Taehyung took a step back to avoid what he knew was about to happen. Jungkook was looking at them, pensive and pale. He didn’t really feel sorry for Taehyung, but it didn’t stop him from feeling nervous about Namjoon. Last time he’d punished his friend, it had led to quite bad bruising. He didn’t want any of that to happen again. Hopefully Hoseok would stop it if Namjoon were to lose control like before. The older rapper seemed pretty angry too where he was standing with his arms crossed. Jungkook did trust Hobi though, he trusted Hobi more than any other right now. He hoped his Hyung wasn’t going to fail his trust.

“Taehyung-ah, don’t be…”

“What’s going on here?” Jin had interrupted Namjoon with a concerned frown. He was fully dressed but had just come out of the shower. His dark hair was still damp.

“The brat just woke us up by throwing juice at us”, Namjoon said annoyed but stopped trying to catch a dodging Taehyung.

Jin was taken aback and turned to Taehyung with a hand gesture, as to ask what the matter with him was.

“Why did you do that?” he asked and a seemingly nonchalant Taehyung turned to him with anger.

“None of your business!” he spat; he didn’t care if Jin could save him, he didn’t want Jin around.

“I’ll ask you one more time, more clearly this time”, the eldest said patiently. “Were there any voices or visions that made you fee…”

“No, I have a mind of my own, you know?!” Taehyung was, if possible, sounding even more pissed off than before. He wasn’t sure where all the anger was coming from, it had all started when Jungkook appeared. He’d hated how his Maknae had talked to him as if he were an idiot! Of course he wasn’t going to wake his Hyungs up! Stupid Jungkook, everything was his fault like always!

“Taeh…”

“No!” Taehyung interrupted Jin.

“Hyung!” Namjoon spoke harshly. Jin was lucky that looks couldn’t kill because his dongsaeng would’ve murdered him right there on the spot.

Jin looked at the rapper before sighing and turning back to Taehyung. “You are grounded, no phone or la…”

“Hyung!” It was both Namjoon and Hobi this time.

Jin sighed again, thinking for a brief moment. His heart ached but he could see why it was needed, although he wished it wasn’t.

“Go get the hairbrush”, he told Taehyung who shook his head.

“No.”

“Jungkook-ah.” Jin turned to the opposite direction where his Maknae was standing. “Go get the hairbrush for me, please.”

Taehyung looked at Jungkook with a dark expression in his face, but the younger ignored it and hurried away to obey his Hyung.

“Let Hoseok-ah do it”, Namjoon said very non-nonsense. He didn’t sound angry or frustrated or anything.

“What?” Jin wrinkled his nose and quickly glanced at Hobi before looking back at Namjoon.

“Let him do it.”

“Why?” Jin tried to understand but he failed. He was sure Namjoon would ask to do it himself, why ask him for someone else to do it? It made no sense.

It made a lot of sense to Namjoon though, which he explained:

“I know you’re not going to let me do it, right?”

Jin didn’t answer anything to that, he didn’t need to, the rapper already knew the answer.

“Oh wait, oh, you mean you’re going to do it? Are you sure your heart will survive that? Really sure?” Namjoon said sarcastically; it was obvious he was playing some kind of game. Jin didn’t like it but let him have his fun. “But you’re our leader, Hyung, so yeah, I definitely think you should start taking some responsibility, better later than ever, I suppose.”

“Watch it Namjoon-ah or you will be next!” Jin spoke through his teeth but Namjoon wasn’t feeling threatened. Instead he snorted a dry laugh.

A quiet and surprised ‘wow’ could be heard coming from Hobi, almost not audible, but somehow too loud for them all in this quiet morning air.

“Do you think I’m joking?” Jin asked.

“I don’t know, are you?” Namjoon knew what he was doing; he wanted to piss off his Hyung, to see how far Jin actually could be pushed before he cracked. He really needed to know. “I honestly don’t know if you are. I don’t think Taehyung knows either, because I’ve been watching you for weeks now and you haven’t gone through with a single threat you’ve made. Both Yoongi-Hyung and Hoseok-ah can confirm that too.”

Jin opened his mouth but closed it again when he saw his Maknae coming back with the hairbrush. The boy looked at them with wary in his big eyes. First at Jin, then Namjoon and then back at Jin. Jungkook wasn’t sure who he should turn to, and he decided he better wait for one of them to reach out instead. No one did though.

“Well?” Namjoon said after a few seconds in silence. “Are you going to take it?”

“Of course”, Jin was just about to take the hairbrush when someone spoke behind him. It was Yoongi. His voice sounded raspy and a bit hoarse.

“Hey guys! It’s getting late, we…”, he shut up when he could not only see but feel the tension around him. Aigoo, it was too early in the freaking morning for any fights. He sighed demonstratively high. “Do I want to know?”

“Yoongi-Hyung, do you want Seokjin-Hyung to keep being our leader?” Namjoon asked and Yoongi started massaging his head.

“Namjoon-ah”, he complained but his dongsaeng wasn’t going to drop it.

“You don’t want that, do you?”

Yoongi gave Namjoon an annoyed look but then said: “No.” Very firm and simple.

“Me neither”, Namjoon quickly affirmed. “And not Hoseok-ah either.”

“What?” Jin turned to Hobi who refused to meet his Hyung’s gaze. He really wished he didn’t have to be involved in this.

“I vote for Hoseok-ah”, Namjoon said with a raised arm.

“Oh, we’re voting now?” Yoongi asked and sounded almost amused. “Sure, I’m voting for you!”

Namjoon’s eyes narrowed when he heard he’d gotten a vote. That wasn’t what he wanted!

“Hoseok-ah?” Yoongi asked, and completely ignored Namjoon’s angry glare. “Who’s going to get your vote?”

“Namjoon-ah”, Hobi answered and Namjoon spun around to this time give his angry glare to his friend.

“No!” he protested but Hobi just shrugged his shoulders with an awkward smile. He had to be honest, didn’t he?

“Hyung”, Yoongi said. “Your turn, who do you vote for?”

Jin looked around at his dongsaengs. His body was burning in embarrassment; had they all hated him as their leader? The thought hurt him, but he wasn’t going to show it to them. His dongsaengs probably saw him as a weakling as it was already, he didn’t need to prove it further for them. So instead of crying about it, he sighed and said:

“Yoongi-yah.”

“Good, that’s one vote for me, one for Hope-ah and two for Namjoon-ah”, Yoongi said. “So do we have a new leader?”

“I… I can’t be your leader”, Namjoon protested more desperate this time.

“Get a grip of yourself”, Yoongi let out a huff. “You’ve always been our leader from the start, and you leading us didn’t stop when you lost your title. You’ve been more of a leader than anyone here during these past weeks!”

The words cut Jin’s heart in pieces, but it warmed nervously in Namjoon’s. None of them had time to say anything though when Jimin popped up from seemingly nowhere next to Jungkook.

“I want to vote too!” he said.

They all were now staring at him. No one had noticed him until now, and they had no idea how long he’d been here.

Namjoon scanned the boy from head to toe, thinking. A light of hope flickered inside of him. He knew if the Maknaes were allowed to vote, the result would end completely different, and to his advantage! No chance in hell were they going to vote for him, and that was exactly how the rapper wanted it!

“Okay”, he said with a nod. “Let’s hear.”

“I vote for Hobi-Hyungie”, Jimin said with a bright smile, and Namjoon was almost smiling too. He knew his dongsaeng more than well!

“Taehyung-ah?” Yoongi asked.

“Namjoon-Hyung”, Taehyung answered without hesitation. That surprised both Jin and Namjoon, they were not prepared for that.

Yoongi nodded without showing any emotions whatsoever. “Jungkook-ah?”

“Namjoon-Hyung”, he answered too, but Namjoon couldn’t be quiet any longer. His heart was beating too hard and his blood was rushing too quickly which made him both too hot and sweaty. He didn’t want to except this result!

“What?! Why are you voting for me?” he asked angrily, while looking between Jungkook and Taehyung.

“They don’t need to tell you their reas…”

“Jimin-ah, be quiet.” Namjoon interrupted Jimin, he had no patience for that boy at the moment. “Why vote for me?”

“You’re best at it”, Taehyung answered, very simple, and Jungkook nodded in agreement.

“Hoseok-ah would be good too!” the rapper pointed out, sounding more hopeless than angry this time.

“But not best”, Taehyung explained but it wasn’t good enough for Namjoon. He couldn’t at all understand his dongsaeng. He’d tried to figure him out for weeks and weeks! Hoseok had told him that Taehyung was looking up to him and that was the reason he’d forgiven him so quickly, but Namjoon didn’t believe that. Yeah, perhaps Taehyung had looked up to him before, but Namjoon refused to accept that he still was.

“I lost my temper with you”, the rapper said as if Taehyung didn’t already know that. “I was in so much denial, and because of that, I failed to see that you were sick and needed help.”

“I didn’t want you to see”, Taehyung answered. He was so very emotionless and calm, the opposite of Namjoon.

“But I should’ve seen it!”

“But you see it now”, Taehyung said. “I don't care... I want you to be our leader.”

Jimin bit his lower lip and felt how his heart was beating too hard too. Too nervous, too sad, too confused how to feel. He still wanted to be angry with Namjoon but it was getting harder and harder, and hearing Taehyung made him waver more. He couldn’t disagree with his best friend, and therefore he sighed and said: “I vote for Namjoon-Hyung too.”

“What?” Namjoon looked at Jimin, but not with anger this time, but with pure shock. “Why?”

“You’re best at it”, the younger admitted. “Even if you’re a big…”

“Jimin-ah”, Yoongi warned and Jimin shut his mouth.

Jin was really paying attention and taking in what his dongsaengs were saying. He understood the logic to why they would vote for Namjoon; besides his missteps lately, he’d been the best leader they could’ve asked for. He didn’t understand the emotional reason to why they would want him back though. Namjoon’s missteps had caused a lot of harm, although Jin didn’t want to nor could he blame it all on Namjoon, but still… his missteps had not been small and easy to forget and forgive.

Yeah, Jin was worried, so much so that he could feel the ache in his heart. He thought of Taehyung and Jungkook. They were both so very mentally instable right now, and they needed protection and care. Jin was convinced of that, and he was convinced that he was the only one who would be able to give exactly what they needed. Both Namjoon and Yoongi were going to be too harsh on them. He didn’t like the thought of that and although he tried to tell himself that history wasn’t going to repeat itself, he was still worried.

Jin looked at Taehyung, who was watching Namjoon. Why? He wanted to ask the boy. Why do you trust Namjoon so much? Even after what he did? Why do you trust any of us?!

Jin respected the wish though, he couldn’t not respect it. What was the point of being the leader if none of them wanted him to be one? No point at all… and he hadn’t been particularly good at it anyway. He could admit that much at least. They needed a true leader. One who knew what he was doing.

Jin relaxed his body with a deep sigh and then said: “I want to change my vote too.”

“Yeah?” Yoongi asked and raised an eyebrow.

“I vote for Namjoon-ah.”

Namjoon looked around to meet his Hyung’s eyes, to really make sure he had caught it right. He couldn’t believe any of them, but even less Jin!

The rapper tried to wrap his head around all of this. Why were they all voting for him when he’d failed them all! Disappointed them over and over again! How could they want to give him a second chance?!

“So that leaves us with one vote for Hoseok-ah and six for Namjoon-ah”, Yoongi confirmed, and looked at the younger rapper. “So, do you accept it?”

Namjoon opened his mouth, then closed it, before he opened it again, but he didn’t manage to say anything. He wasn’t sure what to say. He couldn’t grasp it yet that they all actually wanted him back as their leader.

“Are you sure?” he asked and swallowed thickly. Feeling a bit emotional. Everybody except Jin and Jimin nodded, but they didn’t protest either. “Hyung?” he said, now looking at Jin. “You voted for me.”

“I did”, Jin said quite stiff and cold.

“And you’re really sure you want me as our leader? Do you trust me?” Namjoon didn’t sound as cocky as he had earlier, quite the opposite. He sounded much more careful. Jin was watching him closely, while thinking deeply. He did trust Namjoon with most things, but Taehyung and Jungkook came to his mind again. It was those two he was worried about, but they seemed to trust Namjoon, and Jin wanted to trust that they knew what they wanted. He forced a smile and put a hand on his dongsaeng’s shoulder.

“Yeah, I trust you, Joon-ah”, he said and he could see a smile on Namjoon’s lips too. The younger did his best to hold back his tears, Jin could tell. They were clearly stinging in the rapper’s eyes. Jin had planned to say something more but hesitated. His heart told him he couldn’t spare Namjoon’s feelings, not this time.

“On one condition”, he added and Namjoon furrowed his eyebrows in confusion.

“What?”

“I’ll be in charge of Taehyung and Jungkook.”

“What?!” Namjoon repeated himself when he heard his Hyung’s request. Or, rather, demand.

“Your choice”, Jin said and crossed his arms. It was obvious that he wasn’t going to negotiate about this, but Namjoon tried to anyway.

“If you can’t trust me with them, why vote for me in the first place?!

“Because I trust them!” Jin said almost a bit aggressive. “And they don’t want me as their leader, but I… I…”, his heart stopped him from saying what he really wanted to say, and instead he said: “You either accept it or you don’t, the outcome will be the same regardless.”

Namjoon opened his mouth to protest but was interrupted by Yoongi:

“Okay, that’s enough, we don’t have time for this, so let’s continue this discussion later.”

“What time is it?” Namjoon asked and looked out of the window as if the sun could’ve told him.

“7:41”, Jimin answered softly. “They’ll come pick us up, right?”

“Yes, we need to be downstairs in twenty minutes”, Yoongi answered as grumpy as before.

“Twenty?” Namjoon and Hobi shrieked almost in panic.

“I need to take a shower”, Namjoon said and hurried away. The last thing he wanted was to get tardy for work, especially now if he was going to go back as the leader.

“Me too, this juice is sticky!” Hobi sighed and walked out of the living room too. He wasn’t in as much of a hurry though, they only had one shower, so he would have to wait for his friend anyway.

“Well, hurry up!” Yoongi said, and both him and Jin followed him out of the room. Jimin was soon after when he heard how Jin told him to go eat something. It was important that he kept his blood sugar level stable.

Taehyung turned to Jungkook, and their eyes met. Nothing was said between them, but the younger could see the annoyance written on his Hyung’s face. It made him both confused and sad. Lately, Taehyung had been very snappy and cold towards him, and Jungkook had no idea what he’d done to get under his skin like this. He’d tried to think back on things, but there was nothing that came to Maknae’s mind that could explain Taehyung’s behaviour.

It was distressing.

Taehyung sighed before turning around and leave too. Jungkook was now left standing there, all alone, with the hairbrush in his hands. He looked at it, without really seeing it. He was too deep in thought. So very confused. So very lonely. Why did he keep having this empty feeling inside of him? He wished he could fill the space with something, but he didn’t know what. He just felt like he was missing something.

He’d started to be more and more convinced that this ‘something’ wasn’t possible to reach. The few times he believed he’d found it, he’d realized that it was very brief and volatile. Like catching a snowflake, a second after you’d caught it, it was gone.

Jungkook was tired of chasing snowflakes, but still that was the only thing he seemed to be able to reach…
