Work Text:
Yua had expected to spend the rest of their life doing the same thing. Going to work, then going home, and topping off the night with an anime binge. Now at the age of 27, they can say they never in their wildest dreams thought they would have a partner let alone 2 partners. Partners who loved Yua very much. All 3 of them co-habitate a small cozy apartment.
The apartment itself is nothing special. It has 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, and a conjoined kitchen/living room. What makes it special is that it’s theirs. It’s been theirs for a while now. The rooms are decorated simply with pictures here and there, neutral toned furniture, and a small plant on the kitchen window. The only thing that offsets the decor is the brightly colored crochet throw blankets strewn about every room.
Each one was made with love by Yua. They made one for every special moment in their life. Hizashi fell in love with these creations the moment he saw them draped across Yua’s furniture. He begged for one to be made for him and cried when he received one on his birthday. Shouta however acted indifferent. (Yua knew he secretly liked them when they caught him wrapped up in one as Shouta was doing paperwork.)
The main bedroom was like the rest of the apartment. Decorated in neutrals with splashes of color. The walls a nice dark green. The bed large enough for all 3 of them and each of them having a separate blanket. Hizashi denies it, but they all know he’s a blanket hog.
The bathroom itself is large. 2 sinks. One for Shouta and Yua, and one for Hizashi. He claims they leave the sink dirty and doesn’t want to share with them. The tub/shower combination is large enough to fit them all, but feels so lonely when one is by themselves. Which is where Yua finds themself.
Alone in the bathtub. The water scalding hot and turning their skin a light pink. They stopped feeling the burn about 10 minutes after they got in. All Yua could feel was water in their lungs, water in their brain. Not real water of course, but honestly they couldn’t tell the difference. Everything is so quiet. Where is Hizashi’s obnoxious singing or Shouta’s light snores as he napped.
Yua knew that their partners were at work, but their brain couldn’t help reminding them how quiet and lonely it was in the apartment. Everything was fuzzy and time seemed to cease altogether. The only known factor was the silence.
With Yua being in their own head, they didn’t hear the telltale click of the front door opening and shutting or the sound of Hizashi whistling. They both had arrived home from U.A. Shouta on the verge of losing his mind because his class is insane and Hizashi laughing at his pain. They knew Yua was home and could even hear the shower running. The loud blonde had started setting up to make dinner with the groceries he got on the way home. Shouta decided to knock on the bathroom door to let Yua know they were home.
He knocked once waiting to hear them call out asking who is it. There was no such call. He knocked again, but there was only silence. This situation felt all to familiar to him. He started to panic on the inside a little. He knocked louder in hopes that they didn’t hear him the first time and even called their name.
“Yua are you in there? It’s me shouta,” he called out in his gruff voice. At this point Hizashi showed up at the door hearing the loud knocking. “What’s going on? Are they not answering?”. Shouta was too deep in thought to dignify that with an answer. He tried the knob to find it unlocked. He opened the door quickly to find the room dark. The air thick with fog and the heat making it hard to breathe. Hizashi reached in and flipped the switch lighting the whole room. They then caught sight of Yua. Staring sightlessly at the soap. Their skin a bright pink and their fingertips wrinkled. It was obvious Yua had been there for a while. Shouta cautiously walked up to them and squatted down. “Yua?”. They didn’t respond. Didn’t even flinch upon hearing their name. Hizashi stood by the door with phone in hand in case he needs to contact emergency services. Shouta reached for the faucet to turn it off.
“Yua, Hizashi and I are gonna help you dry off ok.” Again no response, but he didn’t expect one. Yua had a vague sense that someone was there. They for some reason couldn’t reach them. As if the person was on the surface watching them helplessly as they drown. Soon they could feel the lightest of touches on their skin. Yua couldn’t tell where they were touching, because they had no sense of where any of their limbs were.
They let the person (people?) pull them out of the room they were in. The people (they’re sure it’s more than one now, because no one they know has 4 hands) wrap them in something soft and start rubbing at what they assume is their hair. (Again not sure because they have no sense of where anything on their body is)
Hizashi leaves them to go make dinner after helping shouta dry off their partner. He trusts shouta to be able to care for them by himself for a few minutes. Shouta dresses Yua in one of his biggest hoodies and Hizashi’s favorite sweats that they steal all the time. Yua seems to be slightly more aware, tilting their head in the direction they hear talking.
Shouta lays them both down on the bed. His back against the headboard and Yua in his lap. He strokes their hair and talked about his day in hopes that the vibration from his chest will ground them. Hizashi comes back with a tray of their dinner. They each had a bowl of soba, but they didn’t touch theirs. Instead Shouta and Hizashi opted to feed Yua first. After a few bites, Yua started to chew on their own.
After some more hair stroking and back rubbing, they seemed to completely snap back to themselves. Now realizing they were being held and spoonfed by their partners, they seemed to relax. Exhaustion hit them hard causing their eyes to droop. “Are you tired?” was asked by one of their partners but Yua had no inclination of who. They nodded their head painfully slow. “I think it’s time you slept. We’ll be here when you wake. Promise.” Yua felt 2 kisses on their forehead, one after the other.
Holding their eyes open became difficult and led Yua to take their partner’s advice. They let their eyes drift close, falling asleep in the safest place they could be. In the arms of those they love.
