Chapter Text
Ash sighed quietly as he looked at Eiji. They’d been walking the streets of New York for the last hour, no destination really in mind. Eiji, eager to get out of their apartment, left without grabbing his jacket.
The boy was now walking next to Ash, shivering with his arms crossed over her chest, his hands rubbing his arms to provide some sort of warmth with the friction.
Ash pulled on the cuffs of the sleeves of his own hoodie, his eyes never leaving the black-haired boy next to him.
“Ash?” Eiji said, confused as he stared at the blonde.
Ash said nothing as he simply smiled and pulled his arms out of his sleeves, slipping the hoodie from over his head. He silently handed the fabric to Eiji.
Eiji looked between Ash and the hoodie, hesitantly reaching out for it. “You don’t have to do this, you kno-“
“Eiji, relax. Just put it on. I can’t afford you getting sick.” Ash cut him off, plopping the hoodie into Eiji’s hand.
Eiji sighed and slipped the hoodie on over his head, relishing in the newly found warmth. The sleeves of the hoodie reached to the palms of his hands and the bottom went over his butt.
Ash smiled down at the boy and reached up to ruffle his hair. Eiji blushed at the action, though if Ash were to ask he would blame it on the cold, subtly leaning up into Ash’s hand.
Eiji nestled his nose into the collar of the hoodie and closed his eyes for a moment as he inhaled, the faint scent of Ash’s cologne embedded in the fabric.
“Thanks, Ash.” Eiji said in that oh-so-sweet voice of his, his accent on the end of Ash’s name only making it that much sweeter.
Ash nodded and the two continued their walk around the town.
Another hour later, the both of them arrived back at their apartment. Bones and Kong, who had been keeping watch at the place, were passed out on one of the couches in the living room.
“Jeez…” Ash grumbled, using the backs of his hands to rub his eyes. “I guess I shouldn’t expect much.”
Eiji giggled a bit and nudged Ash with his elbow. “They were tired, and it seems like you are too. Go to bed, I’ll be fine. I’m not gonna leave the apartment.” Eiji smiled up at the man.
“Yeah, okay…” Ash replied, sluggishly making his way through the living room and into their bedroom.
Eiji could hear the bed and floors creak as Ash plopped his weight on the mattress, a laugh slipping from his lips.
“He’s so silly…” Eiji whispered.
He toed off his shoes in the living room and yawned quietly. He buried his face into the collar of the hoodie he wore once more, smiling as he inhaled the scent — Ash’s scent.
Eiji grabbed an extra blanket from beneath the coffee table and sprawled it out over Bones and Kong. He then made his way towards the bedroom, closing the door behind him before walking towards a dresser.
He opened it and pulled out a t-shirt and a pair of pants, placing them on top of the dresser and beginning to undress.
Eiji pulled the cuffs of the sleeves of the hoodie from his hands and pulled his arms through the sleeves, slipping it off of his head when something fell from the pocket.
Eiji yelped quietly as the object landed on his foot, his teeth gritting as he tossed the hoodie onto the floor and bent down to inspect his foot. The initial sting went away and now there was a small throbbing sensation, but Eiji decided to ignore it.
He looked at Ash to be sure the blonde was still sleeping, sighing in relief as he was. He then moved to look at the object that had fallen.
Ash’s phone.
‘He must’ve forgotten it when he gave me the hoodie.’ Eiji thought, picking it up.
The screen lit up to show notifications from Max and Alex, the rest being names unfamiliar to Eiji.
“Probably members of his gang..” He whispered.
As he was swiping through the Notification Center, he unlocked the device on accident. Eiji’s eyes widened at the sight.
‘Curse you, Ash. You should at least have a password.’ Eiji puffed out his cheeks in an annoyed manner, barely realizing what the device had opened to.
It was a music app, a playlist on a music app to be specific. The playlists name was…
“Eiji, My… Beloved…” Eiji said out loud, which he’d never meant to do.
Eiji gasped as these facts finally registered properly in his mind. He glanced at the sleeping Ash and held the phone to his chest, his cheeks heating up as a blush spread to the tips of his ears and even down the nape of his neck.
Eiji scrambled to close the device and place it on the dresser, quickly getting dressed into sleep clothes. He slid on the wood flooring due to his socks as he rushed towards his bed.
He laid down and stared at the ceiling for a bit before the body on the bed next to him began to move and grumble.
Eiji sighed and looked over, only to find Ash still asleep. The boy got up from his own bed and moved to Ash’s, taking his shoes off and placing them beside the bed. He then forced Ash’s legs beneath the blanket and pulled fabric up to cover his shoulders.
“Goodnight, Ash. I’ll see you tomorrow.” Eiji whispered before bending down and leaving a small kiss against his temple.
Eiji then went to his own bed and curled up beneath the blanket, his face a bright red color.
“Goodnight, Eiji. My Beloved.” Ash said as Eiji had laid down. “See you tomorrow.”
Eiji squeaked in disbelief, stuttering as he looked at Ash, who only smirked before closing his eyes and falling asleep again.
“But-! You-! How did-! I thought-! Wait-!”
Eiji soon gave up and admitted defeat, pulling the blanket over his head as he closed his eyes to sleep himself.
