With You

Summary:

To avoid a blind date, Yeosang tells his mum that he has a boyfriend but there is no boyfriend. Wooyoung has an idea and Yeosang knows it's a bad idea but he is desperate to get out of this blind date. He needs a boyfriend for his cousin's wedding and San might just be able to save him from this nightmare.

And maybe, Yeosang will thank Wooyoung for his bad idea later.

Notes:

Hi! So I have another SanSang fic here. This was originally a 10 chapter fic for an anime but I compressed it and changed some bits so it would fit SanSang. And honestly, I just wanted some soft SanSang moments so I just indulged myself.

I also like cliche troupe sometimes so this is a fake relationship fic. This is kind of a long boy so you might want to get a drink and get comfortable. And I hope you enjoy it!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Wooyoung laughs at Yeosang’s face.

He laughs so hard, he has tears coming out of his eyes and he is clutching his stomach. If they weren’t in a busy cafe, Yeosang is sure that he would be rolling on the floor.

“Let me get this straight, your mum was going to set you up on a blind date and instead of saying you weren’t interested, you said you had a boyfriend?”

Well when Wooyoung puts it like that, it does sound really silly.

“Yeah…I panicked,” Yeosang admits.

“Hmm,” Wooyoung hums as he places his hand on his chin. He looks thoughtful and Yeosang knows that means trouble but at this point, he was willing to hear out one of his crazy plans.

“What if you just got a boyfriend?”

“Are you kidding me right now?”

“No, no, not a real boyfriend. Just get a pretend boyfriend for your cousin’s wedding and then tell your mum you broke up after the wedding. Easy, peasy,” Wooyoung says as if the whole thing was simple.

“Oh yeah and where would I just get a pretend boyfriend?” Yeosang asks as he raises a brow at him.

“Well, I know someone who might just do it,” Wooyoung says before pulling his phone out.

“Who— ?” Yeosang is cut off by Wooyoung holding his hand up.

“San?” Wooyoung says into the phone.

“San!?” Yeosang cries out in panic.

“I’m with Yeosang at the coffee shop, wanna join?”

Yeosang gives up and just sits there as Wooyoung finishes the phone call and gives him a smug look.

“How do you know San will help?”

“Cause he owes me one” Wooyyong says with a smile that Yeosang doesn’t trust.

Yeosang is still questioning Wooyoung’s plans when San appears.

“Hey!”

“Sannie!”

“Wooyoungei!”

“God, please help me,” Yeosang whispers.

“Not need for God when Snannie is here!” Wooyoung says happily and San nods in agreement.

“You have no idea what you’re about to be dragged into,” Yeosang says to San who is smiling.

That stupid wide, dimpled smile makes Yeosang’s heart skip a beat.

So Yeosang might have a teeny tiny crush on Wooyoung’s other best friend and Yeosang might have actively avoided getting close to San. His heart couldn’t handle being around San for too long. There was something about him which just drew Yeosang in and Yeosang’s instinct told him to run away from that warm feeling. San was always nice to him and always welcomed him when Wooyoung dragged him to hang out. They knew each other’s likes and dislikes. They were friends but Yeosang wouldn’t say they were close.

“Yeosangie needs your help,” Wooyoung says and San looks at Yeosang.

“I will help with anything I can do,” San says, his smile only growing and his eyes turn into little crescent moons. His heart skips another beat.

“He needs you to be his boyfriend!”

San chokes on his coffee.

Yeosang wants to kill Wooyoung.

“S— Sorry, what?” San says as he puts his cup down.

“Yeosangs needs a boyfriend to get out of a blind date and he needs this boyfriend to be his date at his cousin’s wedding,” Wooyoung says, once again he says like it’s the easiest thing ever.

San amazingly nods in understanding. Yeosang is so baffled.

“So wanna do it?” Wooyoung asks as he leans on the small table, looking at San.

Yeosang holds his breath. His request was ridiculous. Wooyoung’s plan was ridiculous. There was no way in hell San was ever going to agr—

“I’ll do it!”

“Yes!”

“What?!”

“You’re in a tight spot, of course, I will help,” San says with a nod while looking at Yeosang.

Yeosang’s jaw drops and he is left speechless.

“W— What?”

“I’ll be your boyfriend!” San declares and Wooyoung cheers happily.

“Anyway, I should leave you two love birds to work out the details!”

“Woo—!”

“Bye!”

“And he’s gone,” San says.

“He comes and goes like a storm,” Yeosang says and San laughs making Yeosang’s heart skip a great again.

“So, what’s the deal with your blind date?” San asks and Yeosang groans.

“You better get comfortable, it’s a long story”

San takes it all in better than Yeosang expected. To keep a long story short, Yeosang was being pressured to meet his mum’s friend’s son because according to his mum, Yeosang was in his mid-20s with no boyfriend no grandkids were insight. Yeosang has pointed out that he wasn’t going to have kids as he was not into women but his mum argued that it was the 21st century, adoption and surrogacy was an option. He would personally rather gouge his eyes out than be responsible for a human baby. Yeosang is aware that his opinions might change in the future but he was very far away from wanting to be a parent.

At this, his mum insisted that he would need someone to rely on and to love in the future. Someone who can look after him and someone who can love him when he is going through hard times.

Yeosang had rolled his eyes. He was not going to win this battle so when the topic of blind dates came again, Yeosang panicked and said he was seeing someone and that he was going to bring them to his cousin’s wedding.

Mistakes were made so now here he is, San trying his best not to laugh at his face.

“You can laugh…I know it was stupid” Yeosang mumbles as he looks down at his hands.

“No, it’s ok. It was probably a heat of the moment thing. And anyway, it doesn’t sound like your mum gave you much of a chance to speak,” San says with an understanding nod.

“Are you ok with this?” Yeosang asks.

“Yeah, you need help, and anyway, wouldn’t you rather do this with someone you already knew rather than a stranger?”

San had a point.

“Anyway, the wedding is going to be a three-day affair so we will have to stay at a hotel together…” Yeosang says as he pulls out the welding invitation.

“Ah”

“You don’t have to do this if you’re uncomfortable,” Yeosang assures but San shakes his head.

“I said, I would help so let me do it…unless you are uncomfortable,” San trails off as he looks a little sad and Yeosang’s heart hurts.

“No…I’m glad it’s you,” Yeosang says with an honest smile and San returns his smile. “We should probably discuss how to act and stuff,” Yeosang says and San nods in agreement.

“I guess we have to do the normal couple stuff like hand-holding and whatnot,” San says as he looks away from Yeosang.

Was he blushing?

Yeosang shakes his head.

Not possible.

“Yeah, and we will probably have to hold each other close…like by each other’s waist and be stuck to each other. I guess we can exchange forehead kisses and whisper in each other’s ears,” Yeosang says thoughtfully as he looks up at the ceiling. He doesn’t want to see San as he says these things because he will imagine those things and he will most certainly blush. “If you are comfortable with all that!” Yeosang adds hastily when San doesn’t respond.

“Sounds good,” San says and when Yeosang gathers the courage to look at San, he is smiling. Yeosang takes a nervous sip from his coffee before awkwardly smiling back at San.

“Pet names?” San offers.

“I don’t really like cheesy pet names,” Yeosang says honestly and San hums in response.

“How about just simply, babe?”

If Yeosang wasn’t blushing at the thought of getting forehead kisses from San, he was most definitely blushing now. He nods stiffly and San laughs.

“Okay…babe”

Yeosang is sure he is about to become a puddle on the floor. The way San called him babe so easily. The way he sounds so happy and so full of…love. It scares Yeosang but also makes his heart skip a beat.

“I like it,” San says and nods in satisfaction.

Yeosang can only nod.

Once they finish discussing other details like where and when the wedding is and how San should prepare for it, they (it was San really) decide that they should go on a “date”. They walk out of the cafe holding hands (Yeosang feels so awkward) and San is smiling at him widely as he talks about what he was doing before Wooyoung had called him over.

San’s hand is warm and fits perfectly in his own, Yeosang notes. He also gets a pleasant electric feeling running through his veins every time San laughs at what he says. San tells stories of what mischief he and his roommate, Yunho get up to on their days off and Yeosang listens and responds when appropriate. They have a nice long walk through the city before they finally decide that they can make a quick ice cream stop. They talk over ice cream and laugh together.

Yeosang finds it easy to be with San. They might have had a small disagreement over ice cream flavours and San might have made a joke about how they are already having their first fight on their first date. Yeosang finds it all very endearing and it makes his heart race.

Before they know it, the sun is setting and San insists on walking Yeosang back to his place.

“You’ve come this far already…wanna come in for dinner?” Yeosang asks, feeling shy all of a sudden.

“Inviting me in on our first date?” San asks with a raised brow. “How very bold of you, babe”

Yoseang blushes and squirms on the spot a little. Why does he feel like a high schooler talking to his crush?

“I mean…you don’t have to if you don’t want to,” Yeosang says looking down at his feet and San laughs.

“I’m only teasing, don’t worry,” San says with a bright smile on his face before he steps closer to Yeosang.

Yeosang looks up at him with wide eyes and San stops smiling as his eyes wander to Yeosang’s lips. Yeosang wonders how San's lips would feel like on his before mentally scolding himself for having those thoughts.

“I’ll see you soon, babe,” San whispers ever so sweetly before leaning down.

Yeosang’s breath is caught in his throat as he closes his eyes. He feels the softest of kisses on his forehead and it disappears in an instant. He opens his eyes to see that San is looking away while scratching the back of his neck. Yeosang has to once again wonder if San is blushing.

Not possible.

“Good night, San-ah”

________

Yeosang says a silent prayer as he stands in front of the hotel he was staying at with his “boyfriend”, San.

This was going to be a long weekend.

San is holding his hand and it makes him feel a little better. To know that San was next to him, calmed him down but it can only last so long.

“Kang Yeosang!”

“Mother”

“My own son calling me like I’m some kind of distant relative, I’m hurt!” Yeosang’s mum says in a dramatic tone but she is laughing.

Yeosang laughs with her and San can’t help but think just how adorable they are together and it looks like Yeosang got his laugh from his mum.

In an instant, Yeosang is wrapped up in his mum’s arms.

“I missed you too, mum,” Yeosang says softly as he hugs his mum back.

"And you must be the secret boyfriend!” his mum says cheerfully as she pulls away from Yeosang.

“It’s nice to meet you, ma’am—” San is cut off as Yeosang’s mum ignores the hand he was offering and pulls him in for a tight hug.

Yeosang’s jaw drops before he starts to panic. He is about to pull his mum off San when he hears San giggle (his heart did not skip a beat at the soft sound of San’s laughter) before he wraps his arms around his mum.

“Now, I want none of that “ma’am” nonsense, call me mum”, Yeosang’s mum says as she pulls away but her hands stay rested on San’s shoulder.

She has a soft smile on her face and San can feel the love from her radiating.

“Yes mum, I’m Choi San,” San says, returning the smile.

“It’s nice to finally meet you San-ah!”

“Where’s dad?” Yeosang asks.

“He is just checking us in, let’s go inside,” his mum says and she leads the two boys in while chatting with San and asking him a million questions.

His dad is also excited to see Yeosang and San. His parents ask how they met and how long they have dated. They had prepared for the typical questions. They had been dating for a few months but knew each other before because of their mutual best front, Wooyoung. Yeosang’s mum asks about how Wooyoung is doing and Yeosang tells her that he is as annoying as ever which earns him a smack on the back of his head. His parents had always had a soft spot for Wooyoung.

Yeosang finally relaxes when they go to their separate rooms.

“I’m so sorry,” Yeosang says as he shuts the door of their hotel room. “My mum is so embarrassing!” Yeosang groans into his hands.

San laughs.

“I thought you three were cute”

“Cute?”

“Yeah, you get along with your parents well. It was lovely to see and experience,” San says.

“You’re weird”

San just laughs.

“Anyway, they want to meet up again for dinner tonight so we have some time to ourselves,” Yeosang says, once again ignoring the way his heart skips a beat at San’s laugh. “Want to go do some sightseeing?”

“Oh yes!” San says excitedly and Yeosang cannot help but smile at the way San bounces a little in happiness.

They decide to put their things away and getting something quick to eat before heading out. There was an aquarium nearby so they decide that would be a nice place to visit together. San is looking around all excitedly. He looks like a little kid and Yeosang has a wide smile on his face as he watches San.

The blue light of the aquarium reflecting off of San who looks so happy is such a beautiful sight to Yeosang. Yeosang had never really let himself admire how beautiful San is. He knew that would be the nail in his coffin. He was already nursing a crush on San, he was not ready to fall deeper but right now he could feel himself falling in.

“So beautiful”

San looks at him and smiles.

“I know right! The ocean and the creatures are so beautiful,” San says before turning back to watch the different fishes swimming in their aquarium.

For a second Yeosang wants this to be real, he lets himself fall deeper but then he reminds himself that this is fake. This isn’t real. This wasn’t permanent. After the wedding, they would go back to their normal lives, separate from each other and only seeing each other when Wooyoung decides they should hang out…as friends.

Nothing more.

Yeosang’s heart sinks.

“Yeosang-ah!”

Yeosang is snapped out of his thoughts as San calls him cheerfully. San is excitedly calling him as he had walked ahead. San is pointing at a colourful fish with seems to sparkle a little in the light. Yeosang smiles and shoves all of his current worries before walking up to where San was. Yeosang laughs a little at the way San excitedly looks at all the fishes and other sea creatures before reading about all of them on the little plaque cards with interest. His tongue sticks out a little from the corner of his lips. San was indeed very beautiful but Yeosang finds him adorable too.

“Why are you laughing?” San asks when Yeosang cannot hold back his laughter anymore.

“You’re so cute,” Yeosang says as he hides his smile behind one of his hands.

San pouts.

“Yeah, that pout, not helping,” Yeosang says with another laugh.

“I’m not cute”

“Yes, you are and you’re even acting like a child,” Yeosang says and San’s pout only grows. “Just don’t get lost, yeah? I don’t want to go to the reception and make them make a missing child announcement,” Yeosang adds with another laugh.

“I’m not a child,” San says and stomps his feet a little making Yeosang laugh again.

“Fine, let’s compromise,” Yeosang says and grabs San’s hand. “Now you won’t be able to go running off on your own”

San visibly blushes and Yeosang’s smile only grows. San grumbles a little about how he feels like a child but makes no attempt to getaway or argue with Yeosang. They end up walking side by side, San still looking around in amazement and Yeosang takes in each moment. He was going to remember these moments for a long time.

As they come to the end of the aquarium, San excitedly asks if they can take a photo together and Yeosang agrees.

They sit side by side in front of one of the large aquariums, their hands are still linked as they lean in closer together. San is holding up his phone with his free hand and he takes a few snaps. Yeosang has a small shy smile on his face while San is smiling brightly, teeth and dimples fully on display. Yeosang is caught up in the moment, admiring San’s smile that he doesn’t realise how quickly San moves.

He turns and places a soft kiss on Yeosang’s cheek and takes a photo of the moment before jumping away from Yeoasng. He is giggling as he checks the photos and bounces happily. Yeosang is left frozen.

“Come on, to the gift shop next!” San says excitedly as he grabs Yeosang’s hand and leads him away.

After the gift shop, they meet up with Yeosang’s parents for dinner. It goes by smoothly. San gets along really well with his parents and this makes him so happy. He watches San be charming and funny and he can feel himself falling deeper. He almost believes that this is really happening but he mentally shakes his head.

The wedding was tomorrow and then this would all be over.

Yeosang needs to get a grip.

_______

They are both quiet when they get back to their hotel room. They take turns washing up and get ready for bed. Yeosang is playing a game on his phone on the chair by the window when San comes out of the bathroom, dressed in his pajamas.

“I’ll sleep on the sofa,” San says as he grabs the pillow from the bed.

“What? Why?” Yeosang asks as he looks up from his phone.

“Cause…there is one bed and two of us…?” San says hesitantly.

“It’s a double bed, just pick a side and sleep on the bed,” Yeosang says and goes back to his game.

“…okay,” San says and puts the pillow back and then getting into bed.

Yeosang plays his game for a while before looking over at the bed to see San laying on the right side of the bed and scrolling through his phone. He is glad San picked the right because he liked to sleep on the left side of the bed normally. He goes back to playing his game but then realisation slowly dawns on him.

He was going to sleep next to San.

Yeosang starts to panic again as his game is long forgotten. What had he just done? Did he really tell San to sleep on the bed with him, oh so casually? What if San thinks he is like that with everyone? And then lying next to each other all night? What if he does something embarrassing? Also, what about his puffy morning face and bed head?

Yeosang has to bite his lip to stop himself from screaming.

Okay, calm down Yeosang. It will be fine. It’s just a bed and you just have to stick to your side of the bed.

Yeosang takes a slow breath.

It will be fine.

Yeosang plugs his phone in before he slips into his side of the bed. San is facing the other way as he scrolls through his phone so Yeosang relaxes a little.

“I’m gonna turn the lights off,” Yeosang says and San gives him a soft “okay” before he puts his phone down on the table next to him.

“Good night, San”

“Good night, Yeosang”

They are facing away from each other, their eyes are shut tight but Yeosang cannot turn his mind off. His heart is pouring as he can feel San’s warmth against his back.

“San?”

“Babe”

“What?”

“It’s our pet names for each other, remember?” San is laughing a little and Yeosang has to laugh too.

“Thanks San” Yeosang says.

“What for?”

“For helping me relax,” Yeosang says as he shifts a little and turns towards San. He hadn’t noticed that San was already facing his way.

He blushes and thanks god that the pigs were off. He doesn’t need the lights to be on to know San is smiling widely though.

“No worries, babe”

Yeosang rolls his eyes.

“Good night babe,” Yeosang says as he faces the other way again.

“Sweet dreams, babe”

________

Yeosang had the best sleep in a very long time. He is warm and comfortable. He had a nice dream too where he was walking and holding hands with a certain someone.

He smiles before rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. He then realises that something is different. He isn’t in his room and then he finally realises that there is a weight on his chest. There is a pair of arms loosely wrapped around him. He knows it was stupid but he closes his eyes hoping this was a dream and to never wake up.

But the reality of the matter was, he had asked San to be his pretend boyfriend and now, here he was in bed with said boy. He indulges himself though as he wraps his arms around the sleeping San. He takes in the comforting smell of his shampoo and just stays there and he can feel San’s steady heartbeat against him.

This was everything he had dreamt about and so much more.

His own heart is hammering against his chest and he has to take a moment to calm himself down. He stares at San’s sleeping face and smiles before placing a soft kiss on his forehead. He feels a little sad but he had to get out of bed. San wasn’t his for him to indulge in.

Yeosang ever so slowly untangles himself from San before getting out of bed. He makes sure to cover San with the blanket before washing up. He then decides he needs a walk so grabs his wallet and the keycard before heading out.

His body is still warm from where he was holding San. He looks at his hands and curls and uncurls them. He knows he likes San. He had liked him for the longest time now and Wooyoung was well aware of it. That is why Wooyoung had called San when he needed a pretend boyfriend. Being here with San has been so much fun but it also wasn’t good for his heart as his feelings were growing.

He had always wanted to spend more time with San but he was shy and quiet so he had found it difficult to find ways to get close to San without Wooyoung. Wooyoung had always told him that he should go after San and that they would be perfect together and maybe this was his chance.

He is smiling to himself when he finds a convenience store and decides to get breakfast for the two of them. He then heads back to the hotel.

San seems to have just woken up when he gets back.

“Good morning, San-ah”

“…morning…where have you been?”

“I thought I should get us some breakfast,” Yeosang says as he lifts the bag of food he had and San laughs a little.

“What a thoughtful boyfriend you are, babe,” San says and Yeosang can feel his face heating up at the pet name.

San excuse himself so he can go wash up. Yeosang realises that he liked seeing San like that, with his guard down and no make-up on. He felt like this way there were no barriers between them and it felt like he was the only one allowed to see San like this.

When San is washed and dressed they end up sitting on the sofa and munching on some breakfast gimbap and drinking canned coffee together.

“This is so fancy, babe,” San says with a sarcastic tone but he is smiling widely.

“Nothing but the best for my baby”

_______

Yeosang is making sure his suit looks tidy when San steps out of the bathroom. His breath catches in his throat when he sees San. He isn’t in a full-on suit like Yeosang but his dress shirt showed off his wide shoulders, the top two buttons are undone so Yeosang can get a peek at his collarbone. His sleeves are rolled up, showing off his arms and the most dangerous detail is his small waist being shown off with his dress shirt tucked into his trousers.

Yeosang needs a drink.

“Wow, you look good, babe,” San says when he sees Yeosang.

Yeosang squirms a little at the way San’s eyes trail up and down his body before giving a nod of approval.

“You look good too,” Yeosang manages to stutter making San giggle.

“Shall we?” San asks as he offers a hand to Yeosang and Yeosang smiles before taking San’s hand.

The ceremony was lovely and now they are at the reception. They are greeted by different members of her family, welcoming San and asking them if they ever have time, they should come over for dinner and whatnot. The two of them just laugh and nod along, all the while holding hands.

Everyone in Yeosang’s family is saying what a lovely couple they make, making Yeosang blush and he naturally hides his face in the crook of San’s neck. San is charming and this makes him even shyer. This only makes his family way even more.

Once all the fussing over is done, they go to their table and San says he is going to get drinks for both of them. Yeosang nods and says he will wait for him.

“Hey, Yeosang!”

“Hi, mum” he greets his mum before he notices his mum is bringing someone to talk to him.

“This is Soobin, my friend’s son, you remember I mentioned him before right!”

“How could I ever forget,” Yeosang says as he grits his teeth.

“Well I told him I would introduce him to you,” his mum says. “I will leave you two to talk”

“W-- Mum!”

Yeosang is confused. For all his mum knew, he was in a relationship with San and his mum seem to fully be in love with San. So what the hell is this?

“It’s nice to meet you Yeosang,” Soobin says with a smile.

He wants to run away.

“Nice to meet you too,” Yeosang says and puts on his best business smile. He doesn’t want to come off as rude so he decides to go for the smile and nod approach.

“I have heard so much about you, I just couldn’t wait to meet you in person,” he says, his smile never fading.

“Oh god, what has my mother been saying to you?” Yeosang asks feeling a little worried.

“Oh she has just been telling me about your work and things,” he says.

“Oh god, that means she has been bragging and that is never good because she always exaggerates about what I do,” Yeosang says with a laugh and Soobin laughs too.

“Erm…excuse me, I would like my boyfriend back”

“San!”

“I was just talking to Yeosang about his work—”

“Bored!” San cuts him off and Yeosang can only sit there are stare at San with wide eyes. He had never seen San like this. San was always nice and friendly, never rude.

“Just give me back my boyfriend,” San says, a small pout forming on his lips.

This is not the time but Yeosang cannot help but think about how adorable San looked. He pulls himself together and stands up finally. Yeosang places his hand on San’s shoulder as the tension in San’s face only grows. Some people have started to stare and whisper and Yeosang needs this to stop. It is his cousin’s wedding and he cannot be ruining her day.

“San, we just finished talking, it’s ok,” Yeosang says and his other hand takes one of San’s hands and squeezes it.

San continues to glare at poor clueless Soobin as Yeosang pulls him away. Yeosang’s heart is hammering away in his chest, confusion has consumed him. Why was he acting like this…like he was jealous. Yeosang shoves that thought away, he would never be jealous, and anyway, why would he be jealous? Yeosang was just talking to someone.

Once they are a good few feet away from Soobin, Yeosang sighs.

“What was that?” he asks as he faces San.

“I just don’t like the way whatever his face was looking at you,” San grumbles, pout still firmly on his face.

Yeosang’s heart skips a beat.

“How was he looking at me?” he managed to say.

“Like he owned you”

Yeosang is dumbfounded.

“San, look at me,” he says as he takes San’s other hand in his free hand.

San finally looks away from Soobin (who is now an unrecognisable face among the crowd) and looks at Yeosang.

“First of all, he can’t own me, I’m not a thing to be owned. Second of all…are you drunk?” he asks. What he wanted to say was that his heart was already set on San but then he smelt the alcohol on him.

“Maybe…I might have chugged something when I saw you smile at that…that thing!” San says as he starts to think.

“What did you chug?” Yeosang asks, ignoring the way his heart skipped a beat at San’s comment.

“It was clear and fizzy, I thought it was lemonade but it didn’t taste like lemonade,” he says, he sounds a little dazed, and Yeosang laughs.

He remembers Wooyoung saying San was a lightweight.

“Yeah, you were smiling and laughing like that,” he says. “I didn’t like that it wasn’t me who made you laugh like that”

“You’re drunk,” Yeosang states, more to himself as San doesn’t seem to be listening to him anymore.

Yeosang should probably take him back to their hotel room. They had been at the wedding long enough and they had greeted everyone and had dinner already. It might be the best idea to retreat to the safety of their hotel room.

Just as he decides to take San away, music starts to play.

It’s time for the first dance and so on. San’s eyes land on the newly married couple. It’s a slow song and the couple happily sway together. He seems to be intrigued as he watched the couple. Yeosang just stands there and watched him. He looked different at this moment. He looked like a little kid watching the most amazing thing ever and Yeosang can practically see the gears in his head moving.

“Hey babe,” he finally speaks once all the special dances are finished and other guests start to join the dance floor.

“Yeah?” Yeosang asks and looks at him.

San finally looks at him and with a wide smile asks, “Wanna dance?”

Yeosang blinks and then nods dumbly. San’s smile widens before he tugs Yeosang to the dance floor. He wraps his arms around his waist and Yeosang’s hands automatically go around San’s neck. They are quite close as they start to sway together to the music.

Yeosang’s heart is hammering away again. His heart cannot get a break recently.

San’s forehead rests on top of his and he can smell the alcohol in his breath. San was definitely drunk but he will keep the words San had said in his drunken state close to his heart. Yeosang would go back to their normal lives after all of this and think about how he would like to tackle his feelings for San. For now, he would just enjoy this moment. Yeosang closes his eyes and his grip around San’s neck tightens. He pulls Yeosang closer and they just enjoy dancing together.

They are just laughing and having fun by the end of the night.

San also sobers up a little so Yeosang doesn’t have to worry about any other outbursts.

“I’m happy,” San manages to declare as they sway together to a slow song, foreheads pressed together.

“Oh yeah?” Yeosang asks with a small smile.

“To be with you here,” he says.

“Really?

San nods like a little kid.

“But, I’ll be sad once it ends,” San says sadly which makes Yeosang’s heart clench.

“Why?”

“Won’t be close to you after,” San says, his eyelids are closing now as he becomes sleepy.

“Come on, we should go back to our room. You look tired,” Yeosang says as he holds San’s hand. San just nods and follows his lead.

Once they get back to their room, Yeosang leads San to the bed.

“You should sleep,” Yeosang says as he bends down to take San’s boots and his own off before standing up. He yelps in surprise when San’s arms wrap around his waist.

“With you” he declares.

Maybe San hadn’t sobered up fully yet.

“Yeah, with me but you need to get into bed first, I need to get dressed for bed,” Yeosang says as he places his hand on his chest.

He pouts and Yeosang can’t help but laugh.

“Stop being a baby, I will be right here for you,” he says softly as he runs his fingers through San’s hair.

“Promise?” he asks as he looks up at Yeosang.

“Promise, I’m not going anywhere. I will be here with you,” Yeosang assures.

San’s eyes look at him and he feels like San is looking right through his soul.

“Stay with me,” he says as his grip around Yeosang tightens, and Yeosang nods.

“Bed now,” San says and pulls Yeosang into bed with him and he swings his legs into bed and holds Yeosang tightly.

“San!” he yelps in surprise but it’s too late, San is on top of him and he has an iron grip around Yeosang’s waist.

San, despite clearly being tipsy, manages to take off Yeosang’s blazer and his tie. Yeosang’s heart is pounding as he lays there. San’s hands are gentle as they work on unbuttoning the top two buttons of his dress shirt before he snuggles into Yeosang.

“Good night,” San says before placing a kiss on Yeosang’s cheek and closes his eyes.

“Good night, babe”

“Your babe,” he mumbles before he seems to fall asleep.

Yeosang laughs softly before he too slowly falls asleep feeling happy and content.

They wake up tangled up in each other’s arms. Yeosang wakes up first and smiles to see San sleeping so peacefully. He runs his fingers through San’s soft hair and his smile widens when San leans into his touch and whines a little in his sleep. San stirs a little before his eyes flutter open slowly.

“Morning, San-ah,” Yeosang says with a teasing smile.

“Morning,” San says. His voice is low and a little bit groggy but it does things to Yeosang’s heart.

San is smiling and Yeosang decides that he will have to come clean about his ever-growing feelings for San.

Unfortunately, normal life is busy so he barely sees San once they get back. Also, Yeosang is a coward but he isn’t about to admit that. Wooyoung shakes his head and moans about how his efforts were wasted but Yeosang just ignores him. He really wanted to talk to San but he is so afraid that if he opens his mouth he will lose his newfound friendship with San. So yes, Yeosang is a coward.

Yeosang is at work, teaching kindergarten kids how to colour within the lines was harder than one would expect. He sits in one of the tiny chairs surrounded by a handful of kids who all tell him that he is an amazing artist for colouring within the lines. Yeosang laughs and helps all the kids with a wide smile on his face. They all call for him wanting his attention and he takes his time to make sure each and every one of them got the attention and help they wanted. Before he knows it, it’s home time for the kids and Yeosang starts to instruct the kids to pack up their things and tidy their tables.

He is very absorbed that he doesn’t realise someone is at his door and has been watching him for a while now in absolute awe. As he is about to lead the kids outside where their parents would be waiting, his heart jumps to his throat.

San is standing there with his hands behind his back, his eyes are wandering and he looks nervous. The kids all stare at San and one of them runs to Yeosang.

“Who is that, teacher?”

“Ah, he is San…my…”

“Boyfriend!” another kid says happily and claps her little hands together and Yeosang’s heart skips a beat.

“Teacher has a boyfriend?”

"Yes! I saw them at the aquarium! Holding hands!"

This starts a debate among the kids and as the kids start to talk amongst themselves, Yeosang gives San an apologetic look before clapping his hands to get their attention.

“Come on, your parents are waiting for all of you,” Yeosang says (blushing at the fact that he had been spotted with San) and lines the kids up before leading them out but not before telling San to wait for him here.

When he comes back San is looking around.

“Hey, it’s been a while,” Yeosang says with a smile and San jumps a little.

“Yeah…” San agrees and his eyes are wandering again.

“Everything ok? You’ve never come to see me at work,” Yeosang asks as he starts to think maybe there was something wrong.

“No..well yes…it’s weird,” San says before finally pulling his arms from behind his back. He is holding a bouquet of colourful flowers. “I missed you,” San whispers, and Yeosang almost doesn’t hear him, but he does hear San and his heart skips a beat.

“Sorry, that was a weird thing to say,” San says.

“No…it makes me happy,” Yeosang says with a smile. “I missed you too”

San’s eyes widen in surprise before he is smiling. The wide smile with his teeth and dimples on display, the same smile which makes Yeosang’s heart burst in joy.

“These are for you…” San says shyly and offers Yeosang the flowers he was holding.

“They are beautiful, thank you, San-ah,” Yeosang says.

They stand there silently for a minute or maybe even two.

“Do you remember…the night of the wedding when we got back to our room, what I said to you? Or what I promised?” Yeosang asks after taking a deep breath. He has to take the opportunity, San had come all this way to see him and give him flowers. This had to mean something.

San frowns.

“I actually remember the whole night…I’m so sorry for the way I behaved towards your friend and then for making you take care of me,” San says as he looks down at the floor.

“It’s okay, I had a good night with you…also he wasn’t my friend…he was the blind date my mum wanted to set me up with,” Yeosang explains with a laugh. “So I was glad that you made a scene about the whole thing, my mum even called after we got back to say I was really lucky to have someone like you”

San groans at that.

“How am I ever going to face your parents?”

Yeosang laughs again.

“So you’re thinking of seeing my parents again?”

San blushes.

“But I guess you will have to, I have a promise to keep after all,” Yeosang says before putting the flowers down on his table and walking towards San.

San looks at him with hopeful eyes and Yeosang almost laughs again.

“Can I kiss you?” San asks and Yeosang can only nod before closing his eyes.

San’s lips are soft and Yeosang finds kissing San is so easy. He feels like this is exactly where he belongs. San is kind and warm. Yeosang can feel the warmth deep in his bones and he finds his hands rest on his chest while San’s are around his waist, pulling him closer. Their lips move against each other.

They didn't have to tell each other how they felt, they could feel it with the way the other kissed.

A silent, I like you is shared between them and it leaves both of them content.

When they pull away they are both gasping for air but their bodies and their foreheads stay pressed.

“My classroom probably isn’t the best place to do this,” Yeosang says.

“Why?”

“This kiss will be all I think about now every time I’m here”

San laughs and Yeosang basks in the sound of his laughter, knowing that he will get to hear that laugh again and that he will get to kiss San again and again.

“I’ve wanted to kiss you for so long,” San admits.

“Really?”

San nods and says “Just ask Wooyoung. I’ve wanted to become close to you and get to know you for so long but I didn’t know how to…I was so scared. And then Wooyoung called me to meet you two that day and I thought this would be my chance but I ended up making a fool of myself but you still made that promise,” San rambles.

Yeosang is watching him with a bright smile.

“I meant it, I will be here with you,” Yeosang says softly.

“Me too, I will always be here with you,” San says and Yeosang isn’t sure who moves first but their lips connect once more.
