Summary:

“In the nicest way possible, it was clear Skeppy had been on a plane until noon. He wore baggy mismatched clothes that he rarely would be caught dead in, gray sweatpants with a bright red t-shirt that Bad was 90% sure was stolen from him last time Skeppy visited. His hair was messy, soft and windswept in that way that Bad always adored, and his face was gentle but had subtle eye bags under his bottom lashes. Bad swept his thumb along one of the swoops and his heart hummed happily at the thought that only he got to see Skeppy like this.”

Bad wakes up from an unplanned nap to find Skeppy sprawled out on his chest.

Notes:

This is unedited and also I wrote it in about two hours. It is 2 am. I just really wanted to write Skephalo because I absolutely adore them ❤️

No trigger warnings, there’s no swearing or anything even. This is meant to be CCs but I used usernames because I’m uncomfortable using real names lol. Not truthing! Do not be invasive on CCs personal lives. This is just based on their personas.

Enjoy!

Work Text:

Bad woke slowly, his eyes fighting to stay closed as he forced them open. He felt stiff, his head at an awkward angle against the couch he was sprawled out on, and warm afternoon sunlight streamed into the room perfectly to hit his eyes. All he could see with his position was the ceiling, his living room light off and a flicking blue light that indicated that the TV was on but muted. The blue clashed beautifully with the sunset orange filling the room, the color combination capturing most of his thought process for a moment. He squinted, raising a hand to block out the light, and realized with a start that he was still wearing his glasses.

Today couldn’t have been a good day, not if he had fallen asleep on his couch in the middle of the day with his glasses on. That was a recipe for a sore back and a grumpy mood. Oddly though, he felt warm more than irritated, an unexplained content lodged firmly in his heart. He shut his eyes for another moment, then lifted his head and opened them again. His breath caught in his throat as it clicked, the sight of a dark-haired man laying in his chest bringing back a flood of memories.

Skeppy and Bad were very busy people and Bad in particular was a very private and anxious person. This made meeting up hard. Their first meet up was a relief, a break in the dam that was Bad’s fear of disappointing, of being disappointing or boring or too clingy. Meeting Skeppy in person for the first time helped that, even if it introduced a whole slew of new problems.

Bad felt his cheeks heat up and he took off his glasses. He placed them on the coffee table and rubbed his face, finding his other hand trapped underneath Skeppy.

Their first meeting was both a dream come true and a disaster, both of them dancing around their swiftly evident feelings for one another. Neither of them were any good at dancing and that showed in the fact that by the end of the second night, they were all over each other. If cuddling and shy nervous kisses counted as ‘all over each other’, anyways. Bad thought it did; it made him feel as fluttery as a middle school crush, so it had to.

Regardless, being able to cup Skeppy’s face in his hands and call him his own was a relief from a problem Bad didn’t even realize he was fretting over. The only issue was now, whenever Skeppy was away for videos or his business work or just his usual flighty nature, Bad missed him all the more. The other man became so quickly entwined in his daily real life routine that waking up without him left an ache in his chest.

Bad pushed away that thought in favor of extracting his arm from under Skeppy. It tingled with pins and needles, something he winced at but tried to push through in favor of wrapping both arms around his boyfriend and pulling him further up his chest. Skeppy grumbled, stirring just a bit but not waking fully, and Bad smiled as he admired him. One hand rested on his back, light and reassuring, and the other traveled to stroke his face.

In the nicest way possible, it was clear Skeppy had been on a plane until noon. Bad swept his thumb along one of the swoops and his heart hummed happily at the thought that only he got to see Skeppy like this.

Sure, his friends would probably get occasional glances, early morning FaceTimes or when they arrived too soon for events at his house. But Bad got to see his boyfriend like this whenever he wanted. As much as the two liked to whine and moan at one another, it was common knowledge that they would both drop anything for each other. If Skeppy wanted a video call in the middle of a stream, he would get a video call. If Bad wanted a selfie in the middle of the night, Bad would get a selfie. The two had built up a silent but unchallenged promise of giving each other all they had to offer. Bad couldn’t be more pleased with it.

His hand trailed down his cheek, feeling the softness of his skin. Skeppy always had clear smooth skin, something Bad was jealous over at the worst of times. Even in his self-conscious moments though, he adored the feeling of it under his fingers, like silky fabric. His fingers reached Skeppy’s hairline as he brushed up his temples and he pushed them into the soft strands, moving his hair back from his face. With the colorful lights lining and shading his warm tan skin, Skeppy’s face structure looked like a Greek sculpture, exaggerated and beautiful. Bad’s eyes traced along his strong nose, his bold brow, the subtle curve of his bottom lip. It was hard to believe someone so handsome was his.

He tugged his fingers out of Skeppy’s hair and the man let out a low whine. Bad jolted in surprise.

“I was enjoying that,” Skeppy grumbled, cracking one eye open to glare up at Bad. The color was warm brown, deep and inviting, and Bad felt a grin break out of his face. “Bad, come on, I was sleeping there.”

“How could you be enjoying me playing with your hair if you were sleeping, you muffinhead?” Bad asked teasingly, wiggling his fingers in the air where Skeppy could see. His boyfriend’s frown deepened.

“It was so nice I felt it in my dreams.”

“Mhm. I’m sure you did.”

“I did!” Skeppy groaned and let his head fall against Bad’s chest, hiding his gorgeous features from sight. Bad pouted, relenting and running his fingers through Skeppy’s hair again. His other hand drifted up to rest between his shoulder blades, firm and steadying, and he could feel Skeppy relaxing under his touch.

“Going back to sleep, ducky?” Bad asked, voice softer than before, and Skeppy replied with a vague hum. “You wanna move to the bed so it’s more comfortable?”

“But I like how you look in this lighting,” Skeppy murmured, adjusting his head so he could look up at Bad. Adoration was clear in his gaze and Bad felt his heart stutter in his chest, surprise freezing him for a moment before red hot embarrassment flooded his senses. He squeezed his eyes closed as he flustered, giggling, and he could feel the vibration as Skeppy joined in.

“Skeppy, you—! Oh my goodness,” Bad forced out and he could feel Skeppy lean back against his hand.

“You’re so cute,” he teased. “Can we just stay here a little longer? I’m warm and you’re cute.”

“You already said that, Skeppy.”

“Yeah, cuz it’s still true, duh. Dumb-boyhalo.” Skeppy nuzzled his face into Bad’s chest again. “Go to sleep. I’m tired.”

Bad’s neck still hurt, Skeppy’s presence on his chest was getting past warm into uncomfortably hot, and he could already feel his sleep schedule getting screwed over. But he was only one man and as stated, Bad would give Skeppy anything he asked for. His boyfriend deserved the world, and Bad couldn’t give him that, so this nap would have to be enough for now.

Bad let his head loll back against the couch arm, starting to count sheep in his head. He moved his arms so they draped loosely over Skeppy’s back and he buried himself further against Bad. Bad’s heart trilled happily and he smiled as he dozed back off into sleep.
