Something cracked behind him.
Wei Wuxian’s head shot up. “Hello?”
More footsteps came through the tall grass, a few feet back. Wei Wuxian could hear that they were obviously wearing long pants, and the grass was swishing around them as they slowly approached. He breathed out a relieved sigh.
“I really thought I was going to be stuck here all night! Can you get me out? Or-or go get someone to help?” He got a little squirmy as they came closer. It was excitement and relief crashing together in his gut. He thought he’d probably kiss his savior the second he got out of here (granted they weren’t one of the ugly, old teachers). “I feel really stupid,” Wei Wuxian said. “I probably look like it, too. Haha! Do you think you can just...tug me out?”
The footsteps stopped right behind him, and Wei Wuxian waited.
After a few seconds of silence with no answer, and no other sounds, Wei Wuxian’s breath gave a nervous hitch. Was he hearing things? Gone crazy with isolation, hallucinating in the hot sun beams? It’d only been thirty or forty minutes since he got stuck in here, so Wei Wuxian should probably leave his theoretical insanity on the backburner for now. But...the person said nothing. Did nothing.
