Between Miracles

Summary:

Some speak of the miraculous
They say that that is love

Yet miracles are matters
of Below and of Above

~ ~ ~

A short, rhyming love poem attributed to nineteenth-century poet Antonio Penn.

Notes:

The ending of this poem was loosely inspired by a prompt from the excellent Juli! Thanks, Juli, for the inspiration — for this poem, and also for being part of the existence of Penn!verse as a whole. :)

For context to this piece, see the first work in this series — Thoughts that Breathe and Words that Burn. If you haven't and don't want to read that story, though, it's fine; all you really need to know is that Crowley writes poetry.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Some speak of the miraculous
They say that that is love

Yet miracles are matters
of Below and of Above

Oh, we bless and tempt and rival
And all that is very well

But it’s when we share a smile
Not in Heaven nor in Hell

When I huddle close beside you
As we ride out stormy weather

It is then I dare pretend
We can be human and together

Notes:

Just a little piece for today! Kudos and comments are as always greatly appreciated, if you happened to enjoy this.

(Also, to those waiting for the post-canon sequel I mentioned, I promise that's still happening! Fell into a bit of a writing slump and haven't gotten much done lately... but the WIP is neither forgotten nor abandoned, I promise. In the meantime, I have a few more poems waiting in the wings. The next one will step out of rhymes into a new structure.)
