'You wanna break the news or should I?'
Eda had asked the purple haired witch earlier that night. The day hadn't gone as planned. They went looking for Titan's Blood to help Luz get home. That was their goal but the day had a lot of unexpected turns for them. Luz had been sick with the Common Mold for two days and wasn't herself. When her girlfriend had heard of Luz coming down with something she made it her mission to help her get better. She went over to The Owl House with a bag packed with check lists and books on what was safe for her girlfriend to take as medicine to help her feel better. Amity made sure things were running just fine in the living house while Luz was sick. Willow and Gus came over to help out too.
Everything was going fine till they had reached Eclipse lake in search of Titan's Blood. Turns out they weren't the only people after it. The place swarmed with coven scouts, the Golden Guard had showed up too and took the portal key from the youngest Blight. What could she do in that situation? He threatened her saying they knew where to find her but it didn't phase her too much, she wasn't giving up the key to him so easily or so she thought..
'We know where to find you and your human.'
That caught her off guard...It caught Amity hecking Blight, top student known for her prestigious record and always being prepared no matter what life had thrown her way...off guard? Her cold demeanor dropped changing immediately to one of shock and worry while she let out a small gasp.
It overwhelmed the young teenager and left her...scared mostly for Luz. The Golden Guard threatened Luz, her Luz. In that moment Amity had to make a decision, either refuse to give Hunter the portal key and risk her and Luz's safety- well mostly Luz's safety or she could let him get away with the portal key and they won't go after Luz.
The lavender haired witch didn't have much of a choice back there did she? Amity sighed, the key in her clenched fist as she gripped it harder managing to crack it before retracting her abomination goop back and gave the blonde boy the key. The most valuable item in which Luz, her girlfriend, had trusted her to keep safe. It was gone now, all that was left was her blue blood stained glove and the very familiar feelings of disappointment and self doubt had come swirling back in the witch's head. What would Luz think of her now? Definitely not an awesome girlfriend- That left a sting to Amity's heart .

"Hey Amity? Are you okay? What's wrong? You've been zoning out for like the third time now while we're talking." Amity felt the attention in the room shift to her as she looked up from her shoes and now faced her girlfriend who had concern written all over her face.
Amity shook her head to get rid of her recurring thoughts from what had happened earlier that day. "Oh no don't worry I'm fine just...tired I guess?" she meant to give a straight forward answer but it came out in a question. Luz, Willow and Gus all furrowed their eyebrows at her response. Amity knew they didn't fully believe her but didn't say anything.
"You know if anything is bothering you, you can tell us right?" Willow said putting a reassuring hand on her shoulder "Maybe get it off your chest?" Amity met Willow's gaze and gave her a meek smile putting her hand over her friend's.
"Thanks Willow and I know I can but I'm just tired so I'll head home for tonight." Amity gave her friends and girlfriend an awkward smile while slowly standing up from the couch and approaching the door.
"Amity wait!" Luz called out almost immediately hopping off of her spot on the couch as the warmth of her girlfriend had left. "Please stay? Just a little longer? I wanna talk to you."
Willow and Gus felt the tension in the room had immediately tensed slightly and had silently agreed to give both witches some privacy. As the plant and illusion witches had said their goodbyes and left it was only Amity and Luz left still standing with a small distance between them. Luz turned to the couch sitting down then patting the open seat next to her gesturing for Amity to sit. She hesitated at first but not too long and sat down beside her girlfriend

It had been awhile since their friends left the Owl House leaving the human and witch alone with each other having small conversations. In that time Luz had taken note of her girlfriend's appearance. Amity had dark circles under eyes, a few scratches but not anything serious, her obvious tiredness and how untidy her hair was.
Amity looked down to her boots and had her hands rested in her lap while Luz scooted closer and placed both her hands on top of her girlfriend's. "Hey, you okay Ami?" Luz's voice was gentle and held concern.
The lavender haired witch looked up to meet her gaze and a small smile etched it's way onto her face. "I'm fine. Like I said, I'm just tired from today."
Luz could tell that wasn't the full truth but accepted her answer nonetheless. "If you're so tired why don't you get some sleep?"
"Here? At the Owl house?" Amity questioned and Luz nodded "Yes, it's late anyway so I don't want you going home in the dark." Amity smiled and rested her head on her girlfriend's shoulder. "If that's the case then I'll just rest here for a little while." Amity trailed off and soon drifted into a peaceful sleep on the human witch's shoulder.
Ten minutes later Luz had repositioned amity on the couch to make her more comfortable while she slept. Luz laid Amity down on the couch before getting her a pillow to rest her head on while also putting a blanket over the witch and sat at on the floor beside her girlfriend sketching in a book she had found. King had walked in, Francios dragging behind him.
"I thought she went home earlier when Willow and Gus left together?" The small demon asked with a questioning look.
The young apprentice looked up from her drawing and gave King a small smile. "Well I wanted to talk with her so I asked her to stay. She was zoning out a lot when she got back so I was just worried when she said she's fine and that she's just tired." Luz heard the witch shuffle under the blanket.
Shifting around to face the sleeping witch Luz reached her hand out and put it against Amity's forehead feeling if she had fever. Do witches get fevers like humans or does it work differently?
She felt her move slightly and King spoke again. "You know, she's had a pretty rough day I can understand why she's tired.." The demon walked up towards Luz sitting beside her.
The witch apprentice took her hand back and looked at King with slight worry. "How did the trip to Eclipse Lake go? I haven't heard much about what happened since you guys got back." Luz asked giving King her full attention.
"Well for starters she was really worried about the Common Mold since we have no idea how it affects humans, she made sure you were being checked on and even wanted to help build our defenses. Then the whole deal with the echoe mouse.." King dragged out gesturing a paw in the air as he continued "Anyways I'll just skip to what happened at Eclipse Lake!" Luz looked between the tiny demon next to her then her sleeping girlfriend.
"We got there and it was swarmed with coven scouts, we even bumped into the Golden Guard and things went south afterwards. Turns out he was looking for the blood too." Luz perked up furrowing her brows nodding for King to continue.
"While Eda kept the coven scouts busy in the cave, Amity and I went after that blonde idiot. We reached the lake but.."
"There wasn't any Tiatan's Blood.." Luz continued "I remember trying to get a hold of Amity on the Tamagotchi when the echoe mouse showed me the Fools Blood when I booped it."
King looked at Luz when she mentioned the Tamagotchi "Oh! Another thing was that she had trouble translating your messages through that human communication device!"
That caught Luz's attention "Wait? Trouble translating it?" She thought for a moment "Oh! I don't think I uhm helped her understand it that's probably why she wasn't responding to my messages when you guys were out.."
"Oh she saw them but she got the wrong idea at first.." King glanced away.
"Wrong idea..?" Luz tilted her head.
"She thought-" King thought about what he wanted to say next "She thought that if she didn't bring back any Tiatan's Blood you would...break up with her.." King mumbled the last part while unaware Luz had heard that last part and jumped up.
"W-what? She thought I wanted to break-" Luz held back on those words and looked to Amity. Taking out her Tamagotchi and reading over the messages she had sent her girlfriend earlier "Oh nooo.." Luz groaned "I can see how she got that idea." The witch apprentice sighed and looked over to Amity who started stirring awake eyes fluttering open slowly.
"King how about you go draw in my room for a sec?" King nodded in understanding and took the book Luz had been drawing in with him to her room.
Amity rubbed her eyes a yawn escaping her. She sat upwards eyes still droopy. Finally her gaze landed on Luz beside her sitting on the floor.
"Luz? What are you-" Amity yawned "What are you doing on the floor?" Amity was now upright trying to shake off the bit of sleepiness. Luz stood up sitting on the end of the couch where Amity had moved away from.
"Feeling any better after your little nap?" the brunette gave her cotton candy haired goddess a warm smile earning a nod in response.
"Even if it was just a nap I'm glad I had one I feel much better thanks." Golden and dark brown eyes met and they stared at the other for little while until both teens blushed at the other then they chuckled quietly averting their gaze to somewhere else in the room.
"Sooo..." Amity dragged out "How long was my nap?" The witch directed her gaze to her fidgeting hands infront of her waiting for a response from Luz.
"Oh not that long maybe about half hour or so?" Luz replied. "Wasn't that long." Luz gestured with her hand in the air. After about 5 minutes of sitting in silence Luz wanted to ask about how everything at Eclipse Lake went now that she had new information from King but her girlfriend spoke up before she could get out a word.
"You wanted to know what happened at Eclipse Lake before I took a nap, is that right?" Amity asked still fidgeting with her hands.
"Oh you don't need to worry King already told me about what happened..." Luz trailed off. "Oh? Then there isn't anything else you want to know?" The witch questioned.
"There is...it's about this." Luz finally took out the Tamagotchi from her pocket and went to through the messages. "King said you got the wrong idea about my message and that you guys lost the key..?"
Amity had completely forgotten about it, now Luz was gonna confront her about the portal key. Amity felt guilt and panic wash over her like a huge wave. "I uhh-" she struggled to find the right words "I-I'm really sorry Luz for losing the portal key. I didn't mean to I just-" Amity went full panic and tensed as she braced herself for what the other girl was about to say.
Luz immediately made her way towards the shaking witch and put her hands on her shoulders "Hey, hey it's okay? See? It's all good." Luz's voice was soft as she tried to reassure her girlfriend that everything was okay.
"You sure? How can I be an 'awesome' girlfriend if I lost the most valuable item you need to get back home!?" Amity argued feeling tears coming on.
"I was worried about you guys when I found out about the Fools Blood! I didn't even realize you weren't wearing the key when you guys got back and-" Luz saw how Amity was trying to make herself seem smaller.
"I didn't want to disappoint you Luz, you're probably upset with me for losing the key.." Amity mumbled.
Luz, sensing Amity's distress furrowed her brows "Amity nothing you do or say could make me upset with you, I promise. I would never threaten you like that! I just needed to know that you were safe along with Eda and King. If anything happened and I wasn't there I-" Luz held back a meek sob continuing "I wouldn't forgive myself that I wasn't there to protect you." Luz brought her hand up to wipe away any oncoming tears.
Amity looked up to her girlfriend, sensing that it was her turn to comfort her human and reached out a hand wiping away Luz's tears "Hey, look at me I'm fine, really. I don't like seeing you cry." The lavender haired witch said trying to put on a reassuring smile.
Luz leaned into Amity's hand bringing her own hand over the witch's own. "Well I don't like seeing you cry either.." Luz spoke soft enough for Amity to hear. "Promise me you won't blame yourself for things that aren't in your control? It wasn't your fault okay Am?" Luz looked up to Amity with puppy eyes.
"Alright I'll try but only for you." Amity ruffled Luz's hair making it messier than it already was but the young apprentice didn't mind.
Both girls hugged and stayed like that for a few minutes neither saying a word.
"Sorry for making you panic back there, I should've been more clear on how to use that device." Luz said.
"It's okay Luz I knew you wouldn't have threatened me like that besides I shouldn't have thought otherwise I'm sorry." Amity said softly. Luz just hugged her tighter.
"You don't have anything to be sorry for I'm just happy you're alright." the young apprentice replied. Amity felt her head swirl with different emotions, not bad ones just good ones. The witch let a small smile settle across her face as she hugged her girlfriend tighter and stayed in Luz's arms after a little while.
"You really are going soft on me aren't you Blight?" Luz teased earning a small scoff from the witch still in her arms.
"Oh hush! I wanted to help you get your Titan's Blood! Isn't that what friends do?" The young witch said grinning at an embarrassed Luz.
"Oh come on! I said it once! Once!" Luz said pouting.
"One time too many Luz." Amity chuckled.
Luz positioned herself so that her head rested on Amity's lap. The purple haired witch rested her hand on top of her girlfriend's head running her fingers through her hair while Luz stuck out her tongue at her girlfriend. Amity just chuckled at her.
"I guess some things don't change.." Luz felt a sly grin creep up onto her face as Amity said those words.
"Oh really now? What about going to the same school? Didn't that change anything?" Luz asked innocently looking up towards a confused Amity, then smirked once her girlfriend realized what she had said.
"What- How'd you-? Luz!!" The brunette just laughed as Amity started blushing beet red.
"I'll come up with something to get you back for that.." Amity mumbled still a blushing mess. Her face softened while Luz's laughter died down and the witch apprentice was beaming up at her. Amity pushed her hand in Luz's face "You dork.."
"Your dork!" Luz moved Amity's hand to look at her grinning.
Both girls settled down with their laughter and were now snuggling on the couch enjoying the other's embrace. "Hey Am?" the brunette spoke up.
"Hmm?" Amity acknowledged with lidded eyes "What's up?"
"Thanks for being my awesome girlfriend." Luz said with a tired sigh snuggling closer to the witch. Amity looked to Luz with that soft smile, the smile she reserved only for Luz settled across her face as she buried her face in Luz's hair feeling the warmth spread from her cheeks to her ears.
"Thanks Luz, you're my awesome girlfriend too.."
