Bloodstained

Summary:

Vampires, to Kim Seokjin, were creatures in a cringey horror-romance movie he loved to watch with a bottle of wine. He had no reason to believe they were real, until he woke up one.

The vampire world isn't much better than the human one he discovers quickly, especially with large groups of rogue vampires wanting to take control of all humans.

Notes:

I haven't wrote a fanfic in a while and I've had this in the drafts for quite some time. I've been editing this over and over again and finally am slightly happy with it.

I should also mention that the pairing won't be the central plot of this story, but it will be important in the second and third part.

I just love vampires so I decided to combine it with Jin (who I also love).

I hope you enjoy! This is something different from what I normally do <3

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: It Started With A Funny Feeling On My Neck

Chapter Text

Bloodstained

Part I. - It Started With A Funny Feeling On My Neck

As an Idol, Kim Seokjin must be accompanied by a bodyguard whenever he leaves the safety of his home. It didn’t matter that he lived with his six groupmates, it had to be a bodyguard. There were crazy fans that would jump at the chance to harass him if he was seen by himself and that also meant there were haters that would also love to cause some damage.

With those threats in mind, he really should’ve listened to that rule. It was around one in the morning when he decided to break the precious rule. He wore a black mask, a pair of glasses, and a black cap with his black parka jacket on. He didn’t stand too much, most of the residents of the city were too drunk to pay him any attention.

He spotted a slightly run down pub, nearing one of the bad parts of the city. People go to this area when they don’t want to be found, so he knew it would be okay to get a few drinks with peace in mind. People were smoking inside the bar and he scrunched his nose up in disgust. He had always hated the awful smell of tobacco.

“What can I get for you?” The bartender asked him, looking dreadfully tired.

“I’ll have a beer and two shots of vodka,” he ordered and let out a sigh of relief when the bartender didn’t question. The pub was relatively empty so he got his drinks within a minute. “Can I also have some spicy chicken?” He added to his order after spotting the menu on the wall.

“I’ll go tell the cook,” the bartender said, looking a bit upset at having to walk to the back.

Seokjin didn’t really care as he took a sip of beer. His eyes went to the TV that hung on the wall, a rerun of a random baseball game playing. He didn’t care too much for the sport, but it gave him something to watch while he drank and waited for his food.

When he was about halfway done with his beer he decided to just down the two shots in front of him. He grimaced after each shot, his throat burning a bit painfully from the hard liquor. The bartender decided to set down the small basket of spicy chicken in front of him, wordlessly.

“Thanks,” he muttered to the bartender, but didn’t get a response from the man. He felt normal in that moment, getting drunk and eating chicken while watching a game of baseball out in public by himself. The bartender didn’t even bother to say you’re welcome and he was able to get slightly pissed off like a normal person.

A man sat next to him on a bar stool and Seokjin nearly did a double take. The man was utterly beautiful. Seokjin didn’t pay too much attention to his dating life, too paranoid of what would happen if it got out. The more he stared at the man he couldn’t help but realize how attracted he was to him.

The thought slightly scared him. He was barely allowed to look at a woman without it causing a storm, a man would destroy his career in a matter of seconds. Despite that, he was still interested.

The man next to him had long black hair that stopped just above his shoulders. His skin was pale for a Korean, but not entirely unusual. His face was the most interesting thing to him though. He had beautiful almond shaped eyes, his irises being a chestnut brown with swirls of an amber color. His lips were a naturally dark pink bordering a light red. His cheekbones were high up, giving him a regal look.

“Are you gonna stare all day or do something?” The mysterious handsome man asked him, a smirk appearing on his face. Even his voice was deep and velvety, drawing him in even more.

“S-Sorry,” Seokjin muttered, his ears turning a bright red as he looked away. His glass of beer became a lot more interesting in that moment and he quickly gulped down the rest. He ignored the man’s eyes on him, trying to distract himself as the embarrassment seeped in.

“You’re quite good looking yourself,” the man said and Seokjin’s eyes snapped to meet his. “My name is Lim Hyunwoo. Yours?” The man, now known as Hyunwoo, asked him.

“Uh, you can call me Jin,” Seokjin said, mentally slapping himself for using a name associated with his career. It was too late now though and Hyunwoo looked interested in him.

“It’s obvious you’re here because of the same reason others are. You don’t want to be found,” Hyunwoo said, eyeing him as he took a sip of a bright red cocktail. “What are you running from, Jin?” Hyunwoo heavily emphasized his name.

“Would you tell me what you’re running from if I asked?” Seokjin asked him, raising an eyebrow and calling over the bartender. “I’ll have a Bloody Mary,” he ordered and then turned back to Hyunwoo.

“A Bloody Mary, eh?” There was something about the way Hyunwoo said the name of the drink that made Seokjin feel as though he was missing something. “You wanna know what I’m running from? Other people,” he whispered in his ear.

Seokjin blushed from the close proximity along with the hot breath against his skin. He couldn’t help but think he was in the same boat as Hyunwoo. He was running from the hovering bodyguards, the screaming fans, the ruthless haters, even his group mates that did nothing but love him. “Well I guess we’re running from the same thing,” Seokjin finally breathed out.

The bartender set the Bloody Mary down in front of him. He grabbed it and took a sip, feeling Hyunwoo’s eyes on him with his every movement. A satisfied look appeared on his face when he saw Seokjin take a sip of the drink. It was almost as if he was happy he decided to indulge himself in that cocktail, like it was the one he was meant to drink.

“Want to head out of here?” Hyunwoo suddenly suggested just as Seokjin finished the last drop of his delectable cocktail.

“And do what exactly?” Seokjin asked, feeling slightly nervous despite the decent amount of alcohol he had in his system. He was sure if he were to blow into a breathalyzer he would fail as soon as his lips touched it.

“Something I’ve been wanting to do since I’ve laid eyes on you,” Hyunwoo said with a smirk. Seokjin was hyper aware of the man’s hand on his lower back. A thrum of excitement and anxiety coursed through him and he hummed softly. He grabbed out his wallet, throwing down the money for his drinks on the counter.

Hyunwoo’s hand never left his lower back, in fact it seemed to trail a bit lower. As soon as they made it in the alley next to the bar he was pressed up against a wall and Hyunwoo’s lips were attached to his. Kissing a man felt no different than kissing a woman, but he found that he liked this a bit more. He couldn’t help but think it was because Hyunwoo was obviously more experienced than his previous partners.

He let out an embarrassing loud moan when Hyunwoo attached his mouth to his neck. He had gotten his fair share of hickeys on his neck, but whatever Hyunwoo was doing now felt different. An unexpected pleasure burst in a spot on his neck and he felt his nerves tingling throughout his body.

Hyunwoo hoisted him up and Seokjin immediately wrapped his legs around the man’s waist. Hyunwoo’s lips seemed to look even more red and they looked a bit wet. He didn’t have too much time to dwell on that because before he knew it their lips were colliding again.

They didn’t go all the way, which Seokjin was slightly grateful for as he didn’t want his first time to be outside of a dingy pub in a creepy alley. His thighs shook when he came, blushing when he felt the stickiness in his pants. They both breathed heavily for a few moments until they pulled away.

“You best be getting home, Jin,” Hyunwoo murmured, his finger tracing Seokjin’s jawline before pulling away. “You’re going to be even more beautiful than you already are. I hope my little gift helps solve your running away issue.” Then the man was gone and Seokjin was left confused and drunk in the alley.

He had no idea what Hyunwoo meant, but he felt slightly grateful nonetheless. He stumbled out of the alley, cursing when he saw the time on his watch. It was nearing three in the morning already.

He managed to call an uber and waited patiently on the corner of the street. The car stopped in front of him and he spotted the uber sticker on the car, deeming it okay to hop into the car. “You know where Hannam the Hills is?” He asked the driver. The woman nodded, raising an eyebrow.

The car ride was silent as the woman drove and he was thankful. A dull headache was beginning to set in and he rested his surprisingly hot skin against the cold car window. By the time the car reached the gate of where he lived he had broken out into a sweat.

He stumbled out of the car, the uber already being paid for through his credit card. He handed his ID to the man that had control over the gate and waited impatiently as he scanned it to make sure he was a resident. “You’re good to go,” he said and typed a code into a keypad.

Seokjin opened the front door to the dorm as quietly as possible, but he was so drunk that he couldn’t do anything quietly. Their home was big enough that they didn’t hear him at least. He threw his keys on the kitchen counter and took off his coat, folding it and setting it on the counter as well.

He headed towards the fridge, grabbing a bottle of water. He finished it within three minutes and headed towards his room without his keys or coat. He nearly fell over as he attempted to remove his jeans, giggling at himself. He managed to strip down to his underwear and slip under the covers.

It felt like he had only just closed his eyes when he was being woken. “You slept in,” he heard someone say as they shook him. He groaned in response, feeling a sharp throb in his head. He had definitely drunk too much the night before. “Come on, hyung. Jungkook is actually making breakfast for us,” they said and Seokjin finally realized it was Jimin.

“I’ll be out in a second,” he murmured and relaxed once the blond left his bedroom. He still felt uncomfortably hot, which made no sense as it was late autumn already. He stumbled out of his bed, yanking open his dresser drawers to grab a pair of clothes.

He settled on his RJ t-shirt and a pair of black basketball shorts. He didn’t bother heading into the bathroom to brush his teeth, he could do that after he ate his food. He wrinkled his nose in disgust at the smell of the food in the kitchen and his stomach churned painfully.

“Look who joined us-” Namjoon fell silent and he was staring at Seokjin weirdly. “What’s that on your neck?” He asked him, his eyes wide.

“Huh?” Seokjin asked as he rubbed his eyes, still feeling exhausted from his little escapade he took last night. Then he remembered what Hyunwoo had been doing to his neck. There was probably a huge hickey on display for all of the members to see. “Oh shit,” he cursed out loud and his hand came up to cover the spot on his neck.

“You can say that again,” Yoongi said with a snicker, waving him towards the table. “Come eat,” he told Seokjin who hesitantly took a seat at the table.

“You have to spill the details,” Taehyung finally said, breaking the silence that settled over them as they ate their breakfast. Jimin smacked Taehyung in the arm, but he looked just as curious as his fellow ‘95 liner.

“I went to a bar last night and had a bit too much fun,” Seokjin told them as he rolled his eyes. “I’ve got the worst headache,” he groaned, slumping in the chair.

“Was she hot?” Taehyung continued, getting smacked harder by Jimin and yelling ‘ow’ as he rubbed his arm. Jungkook was looking awkward and stayed silent as he looked at him. Seokjin didn’t answer Taehyung, feeling slightly embarrassed over the fact that it wasn’t a she. How would they react if they learned it was a boy that left such a mark on him?

“You still have to do dance practice today,” Hoseok told Seokjin as he stood up from the table with his empty plate. Seokjin nodded and placed his dish in the sink before heading back to his room. He had about an hour before they had to head over to the company building.

He grabbed a more appropriate set of clothes for work and headed into his bathroom. He had to refrain from gasping at the sight of his neck. Hyunwoo hadn’t just left a hickey, he’d left a damn bite mark too. He couldn’t remember it hurting though, but it looked like it should’ve. He grimaced at it, knowing there was no chance in hell he could cover that up with makeup.

He felt even hotter in the shower. When he touched his skin it felt ten times hotter than the scalding hot water. He washed his hair and body in record time, desperately wanting to get out from underneath the shower head. He normally likes showers, but it felt too overwhelming today.

He put on his underwear and socks first before hopping on one leg to get into his black skinny jeans. He grabbed the form fitting turtleneck with a sigh, knowing he would be sweating his ass off in practice today with this outfit. He put in his eye contacts, leaning closer to the mirror to make sure he did it properly.

He winced in pain when he started brushing his teeth. His teeth hurt a lot, specifically his canines. He would have to make an appointment with his dentist unless it got better quickly. He settled on mouth wash after attempting to brush his teeth, the pain becoming too much. He quickly applied lip balm before rushing out of the bathroom.

Everything seemed to go wrong in the bathroom that morning and he could only hope that his day got better. The other members were waiting for him down by the front door when he walked out of his room with a pair of black sneakers on.

“Here,” Jungkook said and handed him a few aspirin. Bless his soul, Seokjin thought as he popped the pills in his mouth and took a large gulp of water.

When he walked outside and was greeted by the glaring sun he flinched, feeling the hot rays on his already hot skin. He was grateful that most of his body was covered by his clothes, but his face was completely revealed. He rushed to the sleek black car, wanting to escape the sunlight.

He pulled up his mask and felt a bit more relaxed as part of his face was now covered from the sun rays. His headache got worse whenever he looked outside, especially up at the sun. “You okay?” Jimin asked him quietly during the car ride and Seokjin nodded, giving him a smile to assure him.

Practice began smoothly and they even stopped by to greet their juniors, Taehyung spending a bit more time talking to the five boys. Seokjin already had the dance down by now, but everyone was attempting to get more synchronized and perfect all of the tiny mistakes each of them had.

Seokjin was sweating a lot more than usual, panting slightly as he waved his hand towards himself to cool down a bit. He was sure it was because of the alcohol still leaving his system and the fact he was wearing a turtleneck due to the state of his neck.

“You’re sweating up a storm,” Hoseok said when he went to pat Seokjin on his back. “Do you need a break?” He asked Seokjin, who shook his head in response and continued on with practice.

The sweater was beginning to feel itchy against his skin and he was beginning to fidget. The sweat with the combination of the material against his bare skin wasn’t nice at all. He couldn't remove his turtleneck either unless he wanted to show off Hyunwoo’s work. He let out a soft groan, catching the attention of Sungdeuk and the members.

“No one at the company can snitch on you. I’ll give you my extra shirt if you’re getting too hot,” Namjoon offered and it really was tempting, but Seokjin refused and decided to push on with practice.

When practice finally ended he was feeling sleepy and very grumpy, which was slightly unusual for him. He ignored the worried glances he was receiving from his members when he arrived home and headed straight towards his room to sleep. The sun was still bright outside but he couldn’t help but feel exhausted.

He shut all of the blinds in his room and turned off all lights, feeling a bit cooled down and calmer in the darkness of his room. He changed back into a t-shirt and pair of shorts. All of his blankets ended up on the floor as he was too hot to even entertain the idea of using them.

“Do you think he’s sick? His temperature is still pretty high. I don’t think he should come into work tomorrow,” he heard someone say as he slowly came to. Multiple voices were speaking, talking about him.

He let out a grunt, catching the attention of the six members standing around his bed. “You’re all acting like a bunch of creeps watching me sleep,” he told them. A few of them snorted, but Namjoon was looking at him with concern.

“You have a fever. We called you into work tomorrow so try and get as much rest as you can. There’s some water for you,” Namjoon told him, pointing to his bedside table where two water bottles were.

“Thanks,” Seokjin murmured, suddenly feeling extremely cold. He shivered violently and Jungkook seemed to see it because he grabbed the comforter from the floor and placed it on his shivering body.

“Sleep well,” one of them murmured and he fell back into a restless sleep, but not for long. His eyes snapped open around three in the morning. His neck was burning slightly and he felt extremely thirsty. His body felt ice cold and his canine teeth were aching fiercely.

A surge of panic coursed through his chest and he sat upward in bed as his heart began to race faster. He licked his dry lips, feeling his stomach twist violently out of hunger. He could see perfectly fine in the blackness of his room, surprisingly. He didn’t even have his contacts in, making him confused as to how he could even see properly.

It was no secret that he had a very strong eye prescription.

He was so hungry and thirsty, it was all he could think about as he stumbled out of his room. He didn’t even mind how cold he was as he headed to the kitchen, a feeling of urgency running through him. He yanked open the fridge door, scanning for something to ease his appetite.

He sat on the kitchen floor with a thump, shoving leftover jajangmyeon into his mouth with a pair of chopsticks he found in the drawer. He still felt extremely hungry and thirsty after that, grabbing another bottle of water from the fridge and chugging it in one go. He frowned and whimpered slightly as the hunger got worse.

He grabbed the bag of Yoongi’s tangerines, quickly peeling them and eating them piece by piece. He groaned loudly, standing up and slamming the fridge door shut as he found he was still hungry after all of that. He didn’t bother to clean up his mess and grabbed his phone, ordering a shit ton of chinese food from a 24 hour food place.

He paced in front of the door impatiently, his hunger getting stronger with each moment. Just as he thought he was going to snap he heard footsteps from all the way down the hall near the elevator. He didn’t know how, but he could smell the food from far away. He swung the door open before the delivery boy could even knock.

“That’ll be 127,000 won,” the delivery boy said, looking a bit tired with the large amount of food he was holding in his arms.

“Come in and set that on the table right there,” Seokjin told him as he began grabbing the cash from his wallet. He froze as he went to hand the delivery boy his money, smelling something much more appetizing than the bags of chinese food on the table. He stared at the neck of the delivery boy, feeling his mouth water. “What’s your name?” He asked him.

“Uh, it’s Sungho,” the delivery boy said, giving him a confused look.

“I’m very hungry,” Seokjin murmured as he stepped closer towards Sungho. He placed the money in his pocket and stared him in the eyes. “Don’t move,” he ordered and he was surprised to see that the delivery boy listened.

He wasn’t thinking one bit when he leaned forward to smell Sungho’s neck, breathing in the intoxicating smell. He felt so hungry suddenly and without hesitation he bit into the flesh. His canine teeth easily pierced the flesh and he felt warm blood flood his mouth. He gripped onto Sungho tightly, the man still not moving due to his order. His eyes snapped open when he realized what he was doing and he stumbled back, pushing Sungho away from him.

Sungho still wasn’t moving, but it was obvious he wanted to move and run away.

Seokjin reached to touch his own lips, seeing the crimson liquid appear on his fingers. There was an open wound on Sungho’s neck, a bite mark. Seokjin walked back towards him and licked the blood off of the neck, barely refraining from sinking his teeth into the flesh again. “Leave and forget this ever happened,” Seokjin ordered the delivery boy.

Sungho nodded, a weird look flashing in his eyes before he gave Seokjin a smile. “Have a good night, sir,” he told Seokjin before calmly exiting through the front door. Seokjin stood there in shock for a good few minutes until it finally wore off.

He nearly collapsed to the ground, his legs feeling very weak. He looked at the food on the table and found that he wasn’t nearly as hungry as he was before. He wasn’t hungry for food one bit, no he was hungry for blood.

He tried to refrain from panicking as he rushed back to his room, barely registering the super speed he used to get there. He entered his bathroom, staring at his reflection. There was blood smeared around his mouth and when he went to open his mouth he found a nice set of sharp fangs. His appearance also looked different, his skin way paler than it used to be. His eye color had also changed drastically, a chestnut brown with swirls of red inside them. Thankfully the red wasn’t too noticeable, but it still creeped him out.

Nothing drastic about his face changed, but he somehow looked even more beautiful. Like Hyunwoo.

Anger surged through him and he gripped the marble countertop tightly, shaking from the anger. He heard a loud snap and stared down at the piece of marble he now held in his hand. “Holy fuck,” he breathed out, tears rushing to his eyes.

An insane idea popped into his head. He didn’t want to think it, rather hoping he’d just gone mental and needed to be checked into a psych ward. He set the piece of marble on the counter and turned on the sink. He scrubbed the blood from his face, then brushed his teeth to get out any blood that remained.

He was wide awake despite it being half past four in the morning. He pressed his back against the wall and slowly slid down until he was sitting with his knees bent in front of him. He wrapped his arms around his legs and tucked his head in between them.

He didn’t cry that often, but he suddenly found himself sobbing into his arms. He couldn’t understand why he was suddenly going through so many emotions. He had no idea as to what he should think, feeling utterly overwhelmed. He must’ve been there a while because he heard the door to his bedroom open.

“Seokjin?” A slightly panicked voice asked that he recognized Namjoon's. He could hear the heartbeat of the leader, but more importantly he could smell his blood from all the way in the bathroom.

“Go away, I-I’m in the bathroom,” Seokjin called out to him. His voice came out hoarse and cracked while he was speaking.

“Does your stomach hurt? The kitchen was a mess and there was a shit ton of uneaten chinese food on the table,” Namjoon said through the door and somehow Seokjin just knew he was resting against the door.

“I just don’t feel good. I’ll clean it up when you’re gone. Just go to practice please,” he begged Namjoon, feeling the hunger slowly return the longer his friend stood behind the door.

“Okay. Make sure to message one of us if you need help,” Namjoon told him and Seokjin finally relaxed when he heard his retreating footsteps. He waited fifteen minutes before even daring to step out of the bathroom. He hesitantly walked towards his window, his curtains still blocking sunlight.

He put his hand in front of the window and relaxed when he saw he didn’t burst into flames, but it did irritate his skin the longer he held it there. Everything was slowly falling into place, but he felt worse as he came to a conclusion. The bite mark on his neck (which was already healed), his teeth hurting, his irritation to the sun, and the sudden coldness all made sense, but it didn’t at the same time.

Hyunwoo turned him into a vampire, or something close to the creature.

He managed to avoid the members the entire day, claiming he didn’t want them coming into his room so they wouldn’t get sick. He didn’t want them to notice the sudden differences in his appearance. He also didn’t want to risk ripping out one of his members’ throats.

He moped around all day, wallowing in disgust, regret, and self pity. He should’ve never looked at Hyunwoo or at least never walked out into that alley with the mysterious man. Would he stop ageing? Did he have to wear sunscreen out in the sun? What could kill him? Was he allergic to garlic? He had so many unanswered questions.

He knew he had to feed again. If he held off and refused to there was the chance he wouldn’t have any control around the members and accidentally hurt them. He pushed his disgust aside and managed to corner a woman walking home alone during the night. He felt guilty, but he knew he could now ask her to forget and stay silent, and she would listen. He kept on telling himself at least he hadn’t killed anyone yet, but he wondered if he would.

He felt more awake than ever during the night, so he was coming to the conclusion that he was now nocturnal. He hoped his body didn’t need too much sleep as he could only get a nap during the day when he went back to work.

Should he go back to work? Or should he run away without a word? No one would have to know what happened to him and he could go somewhere hidden until the world eventually forgot about him. He knew he couldn’t do that though. He loved his members too much to just abandon them like that.

He found himself locked back in his room, his hunger satisfied as he laid on his bed and allowed his mind to drift. He wondered how many others like him were out there. He needed to find another one, or at least Hyunwoo so someone could explain to him what he should expect. If he didn’t age people would notice. They were also going to notice his lighter eye color, but he could pass that off as contacts hopefully.

A knock on his door eventually drew him out of his trance and he turned to look at the clock that read 7:57 am. He sighed, knowing he had to face them. “I’ll be out in a minute,” he said through the door and heard footsteps head towards the kitchen.

He brushed his teeth again and eyed the blank spot on his neck. How could he explain the hickey suddenly disappearing? He settled on putting on a black hoodie which thankfully covered up most of his neck.

He could hear the voices from the kitchen as clear as day and he slowly headed out into the hallway. How would he be around six humans at once? He gulped, running his tongue over the set of fangs in his mouth. He wouldn’t hurt them. He would rather hurt himself than hurt any of them.

He entered the kitchen and everyone fell silent. “Jesus, you look pale,” Yoongi breathed out, being the first one to speak.

“I feel perfectly fine though,” Seokjin assured and gave them a smile. He didn’t smile with his teeth because he was sure his fangs wouldn’t go unnoticed. “I’m going to practice with you guys today,” he told them as he took a seat at the table. Most of them looked like they wanted to protest, but no one actually said anything.

As soon as he took a bite of his food he spit it out. “That tastes like shit,” he blurted out before he could stop himself. He covered his mouth with his hand, feeling mortified making fun of one of them.

Jungkook was the first to break out into laughter, quickly followed by the rest excluding Taehyung and Seokjin. At least it told Seokjin whose food he just insulted. “That was great,” Jungkook breathed out, wiping away tears from his eyes.

“Yeah I think he’s ready to go back to work,” Jimin said with a snicker and grabbed Seokjin’s plate from him. “I’ll gladly eat this. You should go grab something from the fridge,” Jimin told him, obviously trying to hold back from laughing to save Taehyung from any more embarrassment.

Seokjin did as told, but he didn’t actually eat the food. He couldn’t eat food anymore. He felt genuinely upset at that, because he enjoyed cooking for the others on a rare occasion. It also brought up more issues as to what they would think when they noticed he wasn’t eating.

Taehyung entered the kitchen just as Seokjin finished fake-eating and he walked right by Seokjin, far too close. He felt his mouth water at the smell of the other man’s blood, but he held back and clamped his mouth shut. He would not hurt any of them.

“I’m sorry for insulting your food. At least everyone else seemed to like it,” Seokjin apologized, feeling slightly guilty.

Taehyung smiled in response, bumping their shoulders together. “I’ll just make fun of your food next time,” he said and walked back into the dining room. Seokjin wondered if there would be a next time.

Over the course of the next two weeks Seokjin managed to learn a decent amount about his new powers and was beginning to learn to control his hunger bit by bit.

He could eat very rare meats, so rare that they were completely bloody. He needed to reapply sunscreen every three hours or he would end up with a nasty and very painful sunburn. It was much better than the idea of catching on fire in the sun. All of his senses were heightened, his smell, hearing, eyesight, and even touch. He could compel people to do things with his mind as well, as long as they made direct eye contact. His super speed and strength were also fairly easy to control, but he had to be careful about opening certain things.

He’d gone to lift up a chair and accidentally sent it flying across the room.

The thing he found most difficult was the hunger. The hunger and desire to drink from every human possible was always present, but so far he hadn’t killed anyone or fed from the people he held close.

He was desperately searching for Hyunwoo, but he couldn’t seem to find the man. It was almost as if he’d never even existed, but he knew that wasn’t the case. He considered the idea that maybe Hyunwoo gave him a fake name, but if that was true then that meant he literally had nothing to go on in terms of finding him.

He also didn’t know if there was a way to distinguish a vampire from a human. The only thing he had to go on was looking for very pretty people that liked to wander around in the night, but there happened to be a fair share of humans that fit that description.

He was becoming really desperate.

He sat on the bar stool, the exact same bar stool he had sat on when he first met Hyunwoo. The bartender was beginning to think of him as a friendly face, finally being a bit more respectful towards him. “Here you go,” Kevin, the bartender, said as he handed Seokjin his Bloody Mary.

“Thanks,” Seokjin said, smiling slightly when he got a small ‘you’re welcome’ from Kevin. He always stayed until the pub closed, hoping Hyunwoo would just walk through the door and explain everything to him. He began to think that may not happen.

That night it wasn’t Hyunwoo that entered the bar door, but a different man that was possibly even more beautiful than the man that had turned him into whatever creature he now was. The man was around the same height as Seokjin, but he held himself in a way that had Seokjin feeling envious.

The man noticed him staring and Seokjin couldn’t help but feel a sense of deja vu wash over him, his mind going back to the night he met Hyunwoo. He eyed the man, wondering if he was a vampire. The man sat next to him in the bar stool Hyunwoo had sat in on that night.

“How new are you? You’re quite obvious,” the man said with a chuckle, making Seokjin blink at him a few times.

“What?” He said dumbly.

“You’re one of us obviously. When were you bit?” The man asked him, grabbing his beer from the bartender.

“Three weeks ago,” Seokjin finally said, his mind going into haywire as he tried to comprehend what the hell was happening. It couldn’t be this easy. A vampire couldn’t just waltz in and have the answer to his problems. Or could he?

The man’s eyes widened a bit and he stood up from the bar stool. “Would you like to take a walk with me?” He asked Seokjin, holding out his hand.

“I don’t even know your name,” Seokjin said, his eyes locked on the hand being held out for him.

“My name is Yuhwan, is that good enough for you? Now come,” the man named Yuhwan said, dropping his hand to his side. Seokjin sighed and placed the money on the counter, nodding his head to Kevin before following the man out of the pub. “Where’s your sire?” Yuhwan asked him after a minute of silence.

“My what?” Seokjin asked him. He had never felt more clueless as he began to realize he truly did know nothing at all.

“The vampire that created you. Where are they?” He asked Seokjin, who just shrugged in response. “Probably someone from the Ulsan coven,” he said with a look of disgust on his face. “They’re known for turning humans and then dumping them on the side of the road. I’m assuming you know nothing?” He asked him.

“Yeah. I’m Seokjin by the way,” he told him when he realized that the vampire still didn’t know his name.

“Have you killed anyone yet, Seokjin? It’s very normal when vampires are recently turned, even more so when they’re left to fend for themselves,” Yuhwan said it so nonchalantly that Seokjin nearly didn’t realize that he was asking if he’d committed murder.

“I would never kill someone. I still have morals,” Seokjin said, feeling slightly offended at being accused of murder.

“Good for you, then. Most don’t have that much control,” Yuhwan told him and shot him a smile. “You’ve probably figured out the basics about what you are, correct? You don’t need to sleep much as long as you feed regularly, but you are naturally nocturnal. All food is out of the question, but you can drink things like alcohol and water. You get a nasty sunburn if you don’t wear sunscreen,” Yuhwan was just confirming all of the things that Seokjin had already found out.

“You’re not going to age anymore either. It’ll take about five years for people to notice though, so enjoy your time with your family and friends while you can. There are only three ways you can die as a vampire. Decapitation, fire, and a steak through the heart. There is a misconception that any piece of wood can kill us, but that’s a lie we like to tell to protect ourselves. Yew wood is the only wood that can kill us,” Yuhwan made sure to explain everything in detail to Seokjin, who clung onto every word like it was his life line.

“Vampirism sounds cool in theory, doesn’t it? Immortality, super strength, super hearing, super speed. Hell, you can compel people to do whatever you want. You wanna know what the downside is?” Yuhwan paused and met Seokjin’s eyes.

“Unless you find a coven, you’re alone. Your friends and family? They’ll be gone soon enough and if it weren’t for our decent memory you’d forget what they looked like, their voice, and how they smelled. Your sire abandoned you. You have no coven sadly.”

Seokjin didn’t think being a vampire was all that good even before meeting Yuhwan, but he managed to make it sound even worse. Of course Hyunwoo had to abandon him and leave him alone for centuries to come.

He felt like crying at the thought of forgetting Jungkook’s loud cackle, Namjoon’s dimples, Yoongi’s warm and gentle touch, Hoseok’s loud and boisterous energy, Jimin’s sweet and comforting smile, or Taehyung’s soothing voice. He didn’t want to lose them. They were his everything. He had about five years left with them before he had to go on the run. If he were human he would have many more, but he had to make the dumb decision to give Hyunwoo a chance.

“So I’m just doomed until the world ends? Doomed to centuries of loneliness and anger?” He felt his voice crack on the last few words, but thankfully he didn’t cry. “Why can’t I just tell my friends and have them hide me?” He asked Yuhwan, blinking away the tears that sprung to his eyes.

“It isn’t allowed. You can only tell a human that you’re a vampire if you either plan on turning them or you are in a very serious relationship with them. If you break up with them you must compel them to forget what you are and never contact them again. The council, our governing body which consists of the oldest living vampires of South Korea, have the right to kill or compel any human that is aware of our existence. They can also punish the vampire if they feel it is necessary,” Yuhwan explained, ignoring how Seokjin slowly deflated at the vampire’s words.

“We have a government? A government of vampires just sounds corrupt, no offense.” Seokjin thought that a group of ancient powerful vampires was a recipe for disaster.

“Oh it is. We’re facing quite the amount of trouble in there currently,” Yuhwan said and a frown appeared on his face.

“Vampires have been turning celebrities and government officials because they want to reveal our existence. If the people in power are vampires then they’re more likely to attempt a peace treaty instead of slaughtering us. It may not sound bad in theory, but they are going around ruining lives. These vampires don’t want peace, they want vampire supremacy. The issue with our government is that there is someone corrupt that supports these ideals.”

Seokjin couldn’t help but think about his own situation. He was part of one of the most famous groups ever. Did Hyunwoo actually know who he was and find him with the intention of turning him? He kept these thoughts to himself and continued to walk with Yuhwan.

“Do you think they’re going to succeed?” Seokjin asked quietly.

“There is a large chance that they will. Technology today makes it easy for things to spread around and if a video were to leak of a vampire feeding from a human it would cause chaos. Humans act with violence in the face of fear. I have no doubt that there will be a massacre once it gets out,” Yuhwan told him, a distant look appearing on his face as he stared up at the night sky. “You chose a pretty bad time to turn,” he said with a chuckle and Seokjin rolled his eyes.

“Oh shit, I need to get back. It’s nearly sunrise,” Seokjin cursed when he looked down at his watch. It was fifteen minutes away from six in the morning, which meant he didn’t have long before either Namjoon or Hoseok woke up.

“Can I put my phone number in your contacts?” Yuhwan asked and Seokjin hesitantly handed over his phone. The other vampire seemed to realize he was in a bit of a rush because he quickly typed his info in and handed it back. “I’ll see you later tonight,” he said before walking off.

Seokjin was tempted to use his speed to get back to his home quickly, but he was too paranoid about being caught on camera. He waited five minutes for his uber, feeling a bit antsy as his eyes never left the watch on his wrist.

He smelled like alcohol and he was dressed in a white button up and black skinny jeans, he wouldn’t have an excuse that he was just going out for a morning jog.

When he entered their dorm it was completely silent and he let out a sigh of relief. He threw his jacket on the counter when he entered the kitchen and grabbed a water bottle, which was a force of habit.

“Where the hell were you?” Namjoon asked him, startling him a bit and he cursed. He was a vampire, how didn’t he hear the male entering the room. “Jesus, you reek of alcohol,” he continued, his nose wrinkling a bit. “We’ve been worried sick,” Namjoon added after Seokjin didn’t make a move to speak.

‘We?’ was Seokjin’s first thought, frowning at the leader’s words. “I didn’t know where you were so I called the company to see if you asked for a bodyguard. Jimin overheard me and of course he can’t keep his mouth shut,” Namjoon explained and Seokjin groaned in response. ”This is the second time we caught you sneaking out, smelling like alcohol afterwards. Tell me you’re at least using protection, hyung,” Namjoon asked him.

Seokjin spluttered a bit, his ears turning red as his skin burned from embarrassment at the suggestion. “I’m not sleeping with anyone!” He exclaimed, turning away from Namjoon to pick his jacket up off of the counter..

“Then what are you doing when you’re gone? Let’s not forget you coming home with all of those hickeys,” Namjoon asked and crossed his arms over his chest.

“Going to a bar to get some drinks. Those hickeys were from a one time thing that I don’t plan on doing ever again, okay? Now, I’m tired so I’m going to bed,” Seokjin sighed, grabbing his water bottle and heading back to his room. Namjoon didn’t call after him, just remained silent as he walked off.

He understood why Namjoon was concerned, but he couldn’t exactly tell him the full truth. He wouldn’t lie to the man, but he wouldn’t give all of the details unless he really needed to.

Seokjin’s thoughts went back to what Yuhwan said earlier. He only had five years at most before he had to either disappear or fake his death. That wasn’t considering what he had to do when it was time for his enlistment. His heart ached at the thought of his members thinking he was gone or never knowing what happened to him.

If anything were to happen to his members he would be devastated, he could only wonder what they would go through.

He didn’t end up going to sleep. Instead he settled on taking a nice warm shower, the only warmth he got now. His body was ice cold and the contrast of the steaming hot water was something that calmed him down. Not even wearing sweaters or hoodies offered him any warmth.

Breakfast was slightly awkward when he arrived in the kitchen and he felt at loss as to what he could do to ease the tension. Everyone had something different for breakfast and he walked towards the cupboards to grab a granola bar and fake eat it to the best of his ability. He was forced to take a bit of the bar, barely refraining from spitting it back out onto the table.

“Uh, Sejin wanted us to have a meeting before work today,” Yoongi said. Breaking the silence that had settled over the seven men.

Seokjin nearly groaned in response. He was going to get a stern talking to in front of all of the members about sneaking out. How would he get out to see Yuhwan? He still had so many questions to ask the elder vampire.

“Well, let’s get going,” Namjoon said and leaned across the table to pick up a few of the cereal bowls from the others. Everyone scrambled to grab their bags and phones, meeting in the hallway within five minutes.

Seokjin opened Yuhwan’s contact and opened up the text messages, biting his lip. Might not be able to hang out tonight. Got caught sneaking out. He sent the short message and pocketed his phone before following the rest of the guys to the car waiting outside for them.

“What’s the code?” Jimin asked Jungkook as they pulled out their phones to play Among Us for the car ride. Taehyung and Yoongi also had their phones out as they got ready to play with them. Seokjin was tempted to ask if he could join, but decided against it and went back to looking out the car window.

He hated how his skin felt with all of the sunscreen on, all oily and gross feeling. He was sure that if he wasn’t a vampire his acne would be horrible at this point, especially with all of the alcohol and lack of sleep.

“It was Taehyung?” Jimin exclaimed, startling Seokjin with the volume of his voice. Taehyung simply laughed in response, pocketing his phone. They arrived at the company building, all of them clambering out and rushing towards the doors as paparazzi swarmed them. Seokjin was beginning to hate all of the loud noises, especially the noise from the paparazzi. All of them were talking at once while their cameras clicked away relentlessly.

They followed one of the body guards down the hallway and into one of the countless conference rooms. Sejin entered the room after they all took their seats. Seokjin could feel the awkwardness return to the room and the multiple pairs of eyes on him.

“I already spoke with Namjoon this morning. All I’ve been doing is going to a bar for a couple of drinks, sometimes I don’t even drink. I promise I am not sleeping around with a bunch of people,” Seokjin defended himself, deciding it was best if he got the first words in.

“We are not worried about your sex life as long as you are being safe. What we are mainly worried about is your lack of sleep and how much alcohol you’ve been drinking,” Sejin confessed and Seokjin had to refrain from laughing. Alcohol had no effect on vampires whatsoever, which was quite disappointing honestly. He was also nocturnal, so there’s nothing he can do there.

“I am not an alcoholic. I know that’s something an alcoholic would say, but I don’t go to the bar for alcohol. I’ve made a few friends at the bar, which is why I keep on going back,” Seokjin tried to explain and he cringed a bit at how desperate he sounded. “I take a nap during the afternoon, I’m getting enough sleep. In fact I’ve never felt better,” he told them. It was true, he had never felt better physically and he had an unlimited amount of energy.

“Why did you start sneaking out in the first place? It’s extremely dangerous for you to be alone. You should’ve at least taken a body-” Seokjin cut Sejin off without caring about how rude he would come across.

“That’s exactly why I like to go alone. I want to escape all of this sometimes. I don’t want to have a bodyguard hovering over me wherever I go. It’s suffocating! The first time I snuck out was the first time I’ve had an orgasm with someone else in months,” he was whining slightly, but the rest of his members seemed to agree with what he was saying.

“It is a bit hard to do anything with a bodyguard constantly watching you. You’re not allowed to be out of their sight. How am I supposed to get any action if I have a ripped six foot dude watching me the entire time?” Yoongi asked, making a few of the people at the table snort.

“We understand your concerns and how difficult this must be, okay? That doesn’t mean there aren’t people that would storm you and possibly hurt you as soon as they recognized you. Hell, if a reporter were to follow you and learned that you were hooking up with people and the media got a hold of that we most likely wouldn’t be able to come up with an excuse,” Sejin’s voice was soft yet stern as he spoke to all of us, rubbing his forehead as a sign of stress.

“Seokjin, you can’t keep on sneaking out. You need to fix that sleep schedule and maybe we should put you on a diet. Not to lose weight or anything, but restricting certain things like alcohol and other foods that could be having a negative effect on your sleep,” Sejin turned to him, pulling out a notepad to write something down.

“Fine, I won’t sneak out anymore. You are not putting me on a diet though,” Seokjin told him and crossed his arms over his chest. Sejin seemed to realize he was being serious when their eyes met and he sighed once again.

“No diet it is. We’ll be setting up motion sensitive cameras at your front door to make sure you don’t leave,” Sejin said and Seokjin reluctantly agreed. He could most likely just jump from his window if he wanted, but he wouldn’t shouldn’t that risk, Seokjin thought to himself. He’ll just have to find a different way to begin feeding without drawing too much attention.

His life was starting to get very complicated.
