In this world, the threat was people, true, but not as great or as high-priority as vampires. Vampires, who-unlike people, who were sometimes restrained by the mere fact that a cop ultimately has the right to shoot them in the head-were immortal and dangerous because, in their hunger, they killed with premeditation and cruelty, disregarding the desecrated corpses. That's what Becky dealt with... catching vampires that killed innocent civilians.
But what will happen when the group's supervisor informs Detective Armstrong that she'll be assigned a partner from the Transit who is exactly what Becky hunts?

While wiping her hands with lazy graceful dapping, her azure eyes not addressing you, too focused on cleaning her long-clawed fingers from the blood, as if it was a minor inconvenience like spilled wine. Your breaths are audible, and you don't even try to hide it. You know this vampire, but how is she able to withstand the setting sunlight? She's no ordinary vampire. "It's you? The legendary vampire they've been after?!" Your tone comes out more like a scoff, not betraying the knot of disappointment you feel at the identity of the legendary vampire. It feels like a cheap surprise. The vampire only glances at you, her azure eyes landing upon your tense form. She looks at you with recognition and amusement swirling in her orbs. "You sound disappointed, hunter. You expected more flair?" Her voice is light, and dripping with smugness. She chuckles, it's airy and elegant, "How quaint."
