Work Text:
Jack threw a few more sweaters in his bag and made a bee line for the bathroom.
It had been a tough few weeks at the SGC, with Jacob's death, the almost complete annihilation of the planet and the breakdown of Sam's relationship with her fiancé, Jack had put SG-1 and himself on downtime, making it clear to them they were invited to come.
He'd invited them all at the same time, while they were in her lab talking like old times. It was an open invitation to all of them. One which Teal’c and Daniel took him up on, promising to meet him there, five days into the 16 day reprieve.
She had remained still and quiet. The longing look in her eyes of times gone past where he would invite her, she'd say no then look like she was about to change her mind, but never actually get round to it. He really wished she would take him up on the offer, he wanted to be there for her, he wanted to make clear to her he meant what he said about always being there for her, truth was he was always hers, but he hadn't forced it.
So, he left it. Their unspoken agreement, still in place. Once she came to the cabin, it would mean more than just friends, and although he had thought through the invitation he had made his feelings clear several times during the years she still hesitated.
He shoved the toothpaste and toothbrush into his bag and headed through to the kitchen to pick up the crate of beer sitting on the kitchen table when he heard a knock on the door. He dropped all items on the kitchen table and headed to the door.
He opened the door to find a rather sheepish looking, very tired looking Sam Carter. She stood in nothing out of the ordinary, a pair of jeans a grey t-shirt shirt peaked under her dark blue knitted jumper and a gym bag slung over her shoulder.
"Carter?" He questioned blinking at her, amazed at her appearance at his door, he knew she knew the morning he was planning to leave, he dared not hope it meant what all the signs were pointing towards.
" Take me with you."
The four words hung in the air for a few seconds while Jack let his mind catch up with current events, before he made himself clear, took a few steps forward before he took her hand in his. "Always."
She looked up into his eyes and nodded a shy smile appearing at her lips as his other hand cupped her cheek, stroking her, as her lips found their way to his.
Her bag dropped and she returned the embrace cupping him cheekily round his butt.
Their embrace was as intoxicating as any first kiss but as sure as two long time lovers, they deepened the kiss as he pulled her inside.
They finally moved back for air when he stroked her cheeks, gaining her eye contact. "You sure?"
"Yah." She said, nodding her head. "A-always" She confirmed, shyly looking into his eyes. He smiled knowing what it had meant, what she was saying, she'd never stopped loving him. He leaned in, holding her against the wall she seemed happy to be against as they kissed again.
"You up for the long haul?" He asked her, meaning the drive to the cabin.
"As long as it's with you." She told him.
He kissed her again, easily picking up her double meaning before he confirmed
"Let's head out." He grabbed the beer from the table and slung his bag over his shoulder, by the time he turned around she had picked up her own bag and was walking towards his truck.
He caught up at the truck dropping his own belongings in the back.
"Do you have a fishing line I can use there?" She asked him as they got into the cab of the truck, putting on her seat belt, the one he was glad to say was closest to him.
He grinned, proudly and told her as he put on his seatbelt "I bought you one years ago." He revealed.
Sam's heart melted and she took his hand again, he turned the engine. Happily letting her hand stay intertwined with his, he used that hand to change gears so it could stay that way while the other controlled the steering wheel, as they backed out onto the road. Her head dropped onto his shoulder and he dropped a kiss into her hair.
"I stop no more the fifteen minutes for rest stops and food." He told her.
"Sounds good. Do you want me to drive some, we can do watches if you like?" She asked him.
"Sure, we'll go to the drive thru and get some coffee and doughnuts, then I'll take first watch you can sleep."
She chuckled "That obvious huh?" She smiled, finally feeling the weight lifting from her soul, her body started waving towards tired.
"You have every right to be." He reminded her. "Thermos is in the glove compartment, help me get it sorted, it should still be warm by the time you wake."
"Deal." She confirmed.
She stayed quiet until they turned into the driver's thru when she whispered to him "This feels right." She whispered.
He smiled and nodded. "Yeah, it does." He confirmed.
"Thank you Jack." She whispered. "Thank you for waiting for me."
"Always." He whispered with a kiss to her head.
