the weather had started to cool and the sun was setting earlier and earlier. the trees lining the pathway through the park nearby had started yellowing, the leaves falling off onto the ground.
jeongguk had started peeking out of the window quite often, watching the leaves change colour in fascination. so that weekend they took him to the park to play among the leaves.
"are you ready to go now?" yoongi asked after they finished breakfast.
jeongguk hurried to their bedroom and came back out with a jumper and a wool hat. he struggled to put them on and then nodded enthusiastically.
seokjin chuckled as he fixed the wonky hat. "okay, let's put our shoes on and then we'll go."
jeongguk nodded and grabbed seokjin's hand, walking together towards the shoe rack. he sat down on the stool and put his slip on shoes on and watched as seokjin put his shoes on.
yoongi chuckled as he watched the two and joined them, putting his shoes on as well. once they were all ready, they went out to the park.
"oh!" jeongguk exclaimed as he pointed at something on the ground. he walked slowly towards it and bent down to pick it up. it was a seed that looked almost like a moth.
"that's a maple seed," yoongi said as he knelt down next to jeongguk. "it looks really interesting, doesn't it?"
jeongguk nodded in agreement and put the seed in his pocket. he grabbed yoongi's hand and then toddled over to grab seokjin's hand so they could continue walking.
"careful," jeongguk said.
"hm?" seokjin asked as he looked down at jeongguk who was walking slowly, watching where his feet were going.
"careful ggu," he said to himself, still watching his feet carefully. " be careful ggu."
yoongi took his phone out with his other hand to start recording while seokjin tried his best not to laugh. they shared the video in the group chat and taehyung commented that jeongguk probably had his own 'inner yoongi' now after being told to be careful multiple times by yoongi before.
they stopped at a park bench to rest and enjoy the scenery. jeongguk settled down on yoongi's lap while seokjin went to buy them some red bean buns to eat.
"ahh," jeongguk sighed as he leaned back against yoongi and took a bite out of his red bean bun, munching happily.
"this is all your fault," yoongi said as he petted jeongguk's head while seokjin laughed unrepentantly. "he always sighs like an old man now."
after eating they started walking back home. jeongguk grabbed both yoongi and seokjin's hands again, walking slowly and telling himself to be careful. they stopped by at a local diner and bought some fried chicken for lunch then went home.
yoongi went to the kitchen to cook some rice and soup to eat with the chicken, while jeongguk and seokjin went to the living room.
jeongguk took out the maple tree seed he pocketed earlier and handed it to seokjin.
"fie!" he exclaimed, waving his arms excitedly.
seokjin went to get their fan and pointed the fan upwards. he turned it on and threw the seed in front, letting it be blown by the wind. the seed fluttered, twirling like helicopter blades, and jeongguk squealed as he toddled around, chasing after it.
he caught the seed and handed it to seokjin. "gain!"
seokjin took it and threw the seed in front of the fan again, recording jeongguk running around chasing after it.
"gain, papa!" jeongguk exclaimed as he barreled into seokjin's stomach. he noticed the phone camera directed at him and grinned wide at the camera.
seokjin stopped recording and sent the video to the others before throwing the seed in front of the fan again.
that night, the boys came unannounced with takeaway and played with jeongguk and the seed.
