IT'S NOT JUST IN YOUR HEAD | Thomas Thorne

Summary:

Nightmares are awful things, especially ones founded from love

Work Text:

Everything was cold.

It was one of the many downsides to being dead, temperature didn't effect the body, or lack there of, and everything was cold. Nothing was the same when you're dead and only have the same dead people for company everyday.

There was one thing that followed her through life and into death for (Y/N): she was terrorised by nightmares every night. She had always been plagued by horrors in the nighttime but since her death, they had grown more and more horrific.

Thomas watched every night as his love was theorised by horrors unknown. He was powerless to stop them so he waited until he could wake her up. He would shake her shoulder and murmur something along the lines of "Good, you're finally awake," to ground her back to reality.

"It's you," (Y/N) said, breaking the silence in the dark bedroom. She had woken up from another terror to find Thomas waiting for her as always.

"What is me?"

(Y/N) laughed softly, bringing Thomas to smile. He loved the sound of her laugh, it was his favourite, especially since it's such a rare occurrence lately. "The nightmares, they're about you."

"Oh, I am sorry. I must go." Thomas recoiled and started to pull away from (Y/N), suddenly burdened with self hatred that he caused (Y/N) such pain and horror every time she closed her eyes.

"Wait, Thomas. Don't go!"

"But I cursed you to be plagued and harassed by such unsightly things."

"The nightmares," (Y/N) said, pulling Thomas back to her, "Are of you leaving me. I don't think I could face the world, even if I was alive, without you. I love you."

"That's the first time you said it."

"I mean it, you make every ounce of pain disappear when I'm around you and if I have to suffer through a nightmare when we are separated by dreams, then so be it." (Y/N) smiled as she said that, finally feeling a little warmth in her life, or death.
