Thomas turned to him, excitement written all over his face. “We can prove them wrong! I need to show Isabelle that I’m capable of serious relationships, and you need to show Anthony that you’re emotionally available and comfortable with your sexuality. So we fake date! Each other, I mean. You know, we go to events together and things, make them really jealous. Then, when we’ve got them where we want them, we stage a break-up! We’ll have them eating out of our hands in no time!”
James thought about it. Amazingly, Thomas was right. The beauty of the plan was that it was so simple. It would work in both of their favours. It would make both Isabelle and Anthony realise that they were incorrect. What could possibly go wrong?

When Thomas and James, mortal enemies and reluctant co-workers at Pat's bookshop, call a temporary truce, their friends are thrilled. Summary
Thomas would much prefer to get enough sleep each night. As it is, though, he is plagued by insomnia, restless thoughts driving him to exasperation in the early hours of the morning when there’s no one and nothing around to distract him. As soon as he lies down to sleep, an endless slew of future poems and, more troublingly, what-ifs flies into his head, and there’s no way to keep them out.
It must be gone three o’clock when Thomas gives up on sleep and resolves to wander the gardens.

Summary
Thomas was not one for dramatics. If he said he was going to drown himself in the lake, by God he meant it! Indeed, he will whole-heartedly pretend to drown while simmering in fury at the bottom of the lake. And he certainly will not care about anything he sees there.
