Letter to "Santa"

Summary:

Christopher's class is asked to write their Christmas wishlist to Santa.

Notes:

I'm sorry if the letter is all over the place. I literally just wrote how I would write at Christopher's age (while trying to keep his personality of course).

This is the second in my November writing project series.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

November 2, 2021

Dear Dad,

Today, Mr. Martinez had us write a letter to Santa telling him what we want for Christmas. I think this is ridiculous because

a: We’re in middle school.

b: No one in the class still believes in Santa.

c: we have a substitute. She’s nice but I think this is busy work.

ANYWAY: I hope Mr. Martinez forgives me for writing like this when he gets back, but I’m writing my letter to you. I don’t have a long list of things I want for Christmas. Sure, some hot wheels would be nice, and the Vanguard trailer is so cool. Like really awesome. But there is only one thing I think we need for Christmas.

And HEAR ME OUT: Buck.

I think you should ask him to be a part of our family. Think about it. A few months ago, you told me about how you put him in your will. That he would be my legal guardian if you die. But I don’t want to wait for him to be my other dad. I want that now- while both of you are here.
You look at him with the same smile Uncle Chimney looks at Aunt Maddie. The same smile Aunt Hen has for Aunt Karen. Before you come looking for me saying that I’m wrong, just know that you’re being stupid about this. I’m sorry for calling you that but it’s true. I just want you to be happy and we both know Buck would make you happy.  (You would make him happy, too.)

No one will fight for us more than he does, Dad. He saved me from the tsunami. He kept me alive. And I saw the news that time you got stuck in the well. He tried to dig you out. Did you know that?

And how else would we stay fed without him? Dad he cooks most of our meals. Even more than Carla cooks for me when you’re not here. There’s stuff in our kitchen that you bought just for him to use. I bet you wouldn’t even know how to spiralize pasta.

IN CONCLUSION: I know you love Bucky, and he loves you to. Ask him on a date as soon as you can- that way we can ask him to move in on Christmas. Please.

Love,

Chris

(Buck really is all I need, but did I mention just how cool the Vanguard trailer is)

Notes:

Not all of these will be Christmas themed, I promise.

Give me song suggestions for inspo.
