Chapter Text

“A-ying!” he yelled and tried to swipe the dog’s jaw but his hands just went through. He yells in horror and tries again and again but he couldn’t stop the dog from biting his son’s leg.

“NO!” he tries again, his son is crying in pain and fear.

“Stop it!” he tries to grab the dog but he can’t. The dog must have had enough and left his son cowering in pain alone in the alley. He tries to pass his spiritual energy but couldn’t as he shakily look at his hands when he just phase through. If ghost can cry he would be bawling right now, trying to comfort his son. If only he knows that he and Sanren would die on that night hunt he would have convinced her not to.

Now his son, his sweet little A-ying is left alone to fend himself.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He was happy that his bestfriend found his son after two years on the streets. He had watched his son starved, bitten by dogs, kicked around by men and women who thought of him as some disgusting thing, which made him mad for days. He thought that his son may live well with the Jiangs, but how wrong he was.
He was a fool to believe such thing.
He knows that Madam Yu hates his wife but he never thought that she will unleash her unjustified anger to his son, his best friend Jiang Fengmian didn’t do anything to prevent it.
“Fengmian! What are you doing!” he yelled at the top of his voice when he saw his best friend turned a blind eye as his wife slapped A-ying when his son called Young maiden Jiang Yanli ‘A-jie’.
He was furious and watched in horror as he realized that his best friend had brought his son to the sect to be treated as dummy for his wife and as a shield for his children.
He tries multiple times to save his son from the whippings, slapping and unjust treatment but he can’t do anything. His heart breaks when he saw his son crying while cowering in the corner of his bed, mending his wounds the best he can.
The young master, Jiang Wanyin at first he thought was just a misunderstood kid but later he realized that the boy was just like his mother. The bitch, Madam Yu had ingrained to his son’s mind that he is more of a servant that is dedicated to serve the Jiangs even at the cost of his life.
He watched along the years as his son was beaten and molded to become a dog dedicated to sacrifice everything for his masters.
He watched as Madam Yu blame his son for the fall of lotus pier and berate him to ensure that the young Wanyin lives which pushed him to watch his son scream in agony for two days as the young maiden Wen Qing transfer his golden core to the other.
He tried to hold on to his son as he was thrown into the burial mounds by the disgusting Wen Chao, his son made it out alive but not fully himself.
He watched his son breaking apart from the continuous use of resentful energy, how he misunderstood the Young Lan’s words as a promise of imprisonment. He beg and beg to his son to stop and listen for once but his words went unheard like it had been at the start.
They won the war but his son was condemned by the world as a monster and a demon. He would yell at them for being hypocrites but there’s nothing he can do but watch as his son sacrifice everything that he had to protect the innocents. He was furious at the Jiangs who didn’t stand by his side but instead join the mob, young master Jiang Wanyin who had forgotten what the wen siblings had done for him and the young maiden jiang who seemingly is enjoying her life as she has now.
Only one person stand by his side, even though his sect were angered by his action. The young lan stood by son’s side until the very end.
He watched as his son died on the hands of his best friend’s son.
He begged at the gods above to give him a chance to save his son, he prayed and prayed. He didn’t know for how long he kneeled, but he heard it.
“Time and fate intertwine with one another, should you be given a chance. Will you try to change his fate?”
After he heard it, an array sprung out from the ground and a light engulf him.
He woke up gasping for air, startling the person besides him. Quickly he placed a hand on his chest and let out a sigh of relief of relief when he felt the soft thumps of his heart. He choked when he saw his wife, alive, looking at him in concern, pulling her into a tight hug, he let it all out. Tears of anger and relief pour out, he didn’t notice a figure disappears in the shadow until he heard a voice in his head.
“Fate is a fickle thing my friend, do you have the strength and will to change your family’s fate? We shall see.”
He doesn’t know the owner of the voice but he doesn’t care, he will not waste this second chance. This time he will try his best to change their fight. If he can’t change his and Cangse’s fate then he will ensure that A-yings fate wouldn’t end like that. Soon, he found out that it was already 4 years since he eloped with Sanren and defected from the Jiang sect. This mean that in 6 years, his little A-ying will be born.
The figure in the shadows watch the two, hoping that their sacrifice won’t be in vain.
