   Summary

   "Alright, buddy, I got you." Bucky murmured, knowing it was falling on deaf ears. Well, Steve was half-deaf anyways, but this time there was no chance that he'd hear. He picked Steve up with a gentle grip and started walking home. That walk quickly turned to a jog- which turned to a run.

   Steve couldn’t breathe. He couldn’t think. He just kept hearing Bucky’s voice in his head and feeling the cold rain seep through his coat and- He was burning up, he knew vaguely. He was freezing, but he had been sick enough to recognize fever chills. Wasn’t a horrible way to go. It was the way everyone expected him to die, at least. And this way, Bucky didn’t have a burden anymore.
